see not only is this scene good, but it makes sense in season 5 when ben comes back to this office cuz they treat it like we've seen it before. if they had it then we'd be like "oh! thats bens office from season 3!" but no they cut it, cuz abc makes them have a time limit :(

although after all the bad things Ben has done, and i think he is meant to be seen as a 'bad guy', i love the way the writers have shown this completely different side to him when he is talking to Alex.

If they had kept this scene, the flashback in last week's episode would've been more meaningful to the viewers, but I understand why they cut it. It doesn't really add to the plot and its omission makes other scenes more suspenseful.

I agree. Ben while a great character, HE does not really understand what love is. Not having anyone who loves him in his early life made him possessive and made him want love so bad that he does anything in order to get it. He's selfish with love. Probably why he took Alex. Ben wanted someone who would love him. A baby can't say, "No, I don't want to be around you." The plan backfired when she grew up though.
