What makes you think there wouldn't have been a deficit under the tories? The deficit accumulated by Labour only became a problem due to the crash of the American sub-prime sector that sent the banking sector worldwide rocking, the ‘global’ recession wasn’t Labours fault was it?

Labour are so pathetic, I know politics is all about bitching at each other but Labour use scare tactics only because they have f****d up 10x worse and have no policies. Micheal Howard was a politician of conviction and class and would have got this country back on its feet instead of being a country of filthy hospitals, migrant favoring, knife crime epidemics and jails packed to the rafters because of ridiculous laws.Thank You Labour, Thank You for destroying the country I was once proud of!

see they forgot to mention that he his the only home secretary that has cut all crime, crime fell by 15%. if Labour want to compare competance then they can keep on going on about black wednesday, the amount the exchequer lost when brown sold all that gold is more than £20bn, not only £3.3bn

It's incredible Labour got in for the third time when they have done nothing for two years with it. Michael Howard would have done a much better job and seeing who replaced him we'd have been better off keeping him.

Why are you all Naive, and narrow-minded! If you lived this period, it was the worst time to live in all together. People don't realise how bloody lucky we are to have what we do have. If tories came in and cut taxes, like they always do and promise to offer high quality services. How on earth are they supposed to keep them running. A time of greater freedom and democracy? You are the naive one for forgetting the thirty years of socialist policys after the war. Large nationalist companies who were so inefficient that britain became the sick man of europe. Unions destroyed our industry and strikes lead to the winter of discontent.
