This is an incredible tune. If you slow it down and voice it a little differently, it sounds like straight up blues. George Jones is an incredibly gifted vocalist. Listen to how he phrases "I wound up in second place"; in this stupendous rendition of the song, he does a syncopated emphasis that is impossible to duplicate.George is so good that it's hard for idiots like the previous commentator to recognize it.

i deiced to listen to both this version and he sawyer brown version . simply put the tone difference in how its sung was the biggest factor . GJ sings it in an upbeat and almost happy tone , while SB has more of a sadness to the tone . thus for this heart break song , SB defiantly is better
