Like clim84, I LOVE MY GLI!!! Owned an '03 1.8T Wolfsberg edition and loved that too. Unfortunately it had too many miles. I got a great deal on it from a local VW dealer. They had 2 (#57 mine, #229). If you are still looking for one, btw Certified Pre-Owned, Emich VW in Denver, CO. The car will not disappoint.
I have #362 and lovin it fast enough and good economy and definately turns heads, Love it or hate it color. It caught my eye and since the controvertial color got a hell of a deal on my barely used GLI. Almost half the original sticker for a very low milage GLI can't be beat.
DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) is total crap! It is hybrid inbetween automatic and clutch, transmission. when they go out your looking at about 3-4000 bucks, IF you can get the parts, and have to remove the engine and trans too. If you can't drive a 5 speed you shouldn't drive...
Great performance but very boring exterior styling... where's the body kit, 18" bbs wheels and recaro seats??? these were standard for 2005 jetta gli and it looks very sporty.
I got mine from the dealer in Covina (probably the one that was sitting there for months) and I think the price was the thing that was too much for people in that area. They prefer their "reliable" Hondas and Nissans.
This car definately breaks the mold. Safety, performance, reliability--and definately eye-catching.
The downside: It's a huge temptation to test the car's limits, and its color makes it a target for cops. haha.
The Volkswagen Dealer Near my house in covina cali has the GLI and GTI Fahrenheit and they have been sitting on the lot for abut 6 months....NO BUYERS...I think that if they werent Yellow and Orange it would sell better

Agreed about the colors. We have GTI fahrenheit sitting on our local VW dealer for 6-8 months now.
I'd snap one up if they weren't in those hideous colours
