  • why use fucking lube when you can use the air in a bottle to spray the dirt out of the pickups and the inside

  • you guys click the wrong video, this video shows u how to fuck up ur guitar not clean it

  • or you could do it my way. The spit and wipe

  • can alcohol removes rust in guitar pickup screws?

  • one must wonder from what village these "experts" come from...

  • Great. And then you've got a guitar full of fucking lubricant..

  • Hahahahahahahahaha...............! I don't know about the video so much but the comments have made me laugh till death guys.

  • so that's how the "professionals" do it huh?

  • NOT REMOVING ACCES OIL AFTER USING?!?!?!

How to fuck up your guitar step 1, MISTER PROFESIONAL GUITAR TECHNICUS

    Expertvillage indeed is shit...

  • NOT REMOVING ACCES OIL AFTER USING?!?!?!

How to fuck up your guitar step 1

  • K GUYS THIS IS HOW U CLEAN A GUITAR YOU SPRAY THIS SHIT ON THE SWITCHES AND THEN MOVE THEM ROUND BIT K DONE

  • anyone who knows their shit knows that you cant clean a three way switch by spraying shit in it from the toggle side. it functions on the concept that there are two prongs in constant contact with a metal center. flipping the switch one way separates a prong thus routing your signal to one pickup. the middle position routes signal through both. this is all INSIDE YOUR GUITAR...he's not cleaning anything by spraying the toggle switch. once again...expert village....fail

  • i am sorry i think i didn't heard it well. ANY SPRAY OF THAT TYPE WILL DO???? hmm guess he messed up some pretty guitars. People shouldn't be messing around with guitars.

  • I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOIGN TO CLEAN UP CAT LITTER WITH GITAR.

  • at 0:56, could i use WD-40?

  • @polishskaterdude32 yes u can . .

  • expertvillage=shit

  • you don't need to spray that much and drown it in lube lol

  • First problem, he pulled the knob off before the setscrew was fully backed off. Second problem, he's turning the aerosol can upside down, which is just ignorant. Third, he's getting that stuff on the guitar's finish. It may or may not harm the finish, but it's just plain irresponsible! He even states that it helps to use a nozzle tube to "get it in there cleaner" so he knows better. Fourth, he abused the selector switch. Sure, he didnt break it, but he put a lot of miles on it.

  • @IncisalEdges I wouldnt let him touch a $100 guitar from a garage sale. This video really made me think though. Im going to be more careful about who I leave my guitar with in the future. This guy is poorly trained, and 99% of his customers would never know.

  • 2:15, it would be funny if the toggle switch just snapped out.

  • He's spraying that stuff all over the guitar but that maybe doesnt matter?

  • Morron dumb ass tech :op

  • dose anyone know how to clean that kind of paint in the guitar?

  • @chinoxdark wd40 cleans all the shit in the paint , you can use it once in every few months , but it's always better to maintain with a cloth or something from then on.

  • hmm is safe using it or if i use often it will scrap off the shit out of it?

  • That's a corrosive spray, but until scraps the paint of a guitar will take a bit of time, like a nail inside a coca cola glass...if u use it once every 2 months or something u will have no problem, i do to mine sometimes, in the end she looks brand new :)

  • ooh ok thanks ima totaly gonna do it right now :D

  • no bother, give me some feedback on how that worked out! :)

  • I was just about to say what avhcbeaver1 said. I use Caig deOxIt fr pots and swtiches. You do NOT want to get most contact lube or contact cleaners on the finish of your guitar!

Also, regardless of how you go about it, use a 'straw' like comes with WD40 or most Caig products. Stray lube/cleaner can play havoc with the finish or the circuits.

As far as frets, it often helps to polish them carefully with some very fine sandpaper.

Also cleaning the crud/grime on your fretboard often helps.

  • i have a strat copy will i screw up my guitar neck if i take all the strings off at once?

  • shouldnt do but if you were to cut them off all at once the sudden drop in tension wouldnt do it much good on at a time would be fine

  • yup.. you shouldnt take all the strings off at once. it releases the tension that guitar necks are meant to be under tension. it can damage the neck if you leave them off for too long. i recomend doint one string at a time or what i do is i just loosen the strings then tighten them when im done

  • what i do is loosen up the strings and then cut it and take them out of the bridge and tuners.

  • can i use a WD- 40 lubricant?

  • @coolboycoomingsoon nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo way

  • this was not very helpful

  • little red straw from the nozzle. also paper towels wrapped around the pot, protecting the rest of the guitar from the overspray.

  • right.. so your saying all knobs have set screws on them... right... thanks for giving us bad advise..

ow and next time you should say to use "Contact Cleaner" not just ANY electronic Lubricant..

  • this guy is a moron why is theyre so many stupid guitar techs around. some idiot tried to tell me that my ibanez rg didnt have a truss rod too. alll guitars have truss rods.

  • .. not true

  • allmost all modern guitars i should had said.

  • well said mate

  • thank you mate.

  • this guy is, a moron...

no all guitars have trussrods my friend... but your RG defiantly does, unfortunantly there are a lot of tossers out there in the world of guitar techs...

  • no,classical guitars and spanish flamenco guitars dont haha

  • unless they are acient or have another form of neck adjustment.

  • will wd-40 work

  • NNNNNOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

  • 1:01 LOL

he sprayed all on the guitar body haha

  • i wouldnt let this idiot touch my guitar

  • wow...even I knew this

  • 'Expert Village' ?

Fuck me, this vid is shit on so many levels

  • im with you... these vids are CA CA...

  • switch the switch a buncha times (and it breaks ) LMAO!

  • I use "Gunk" spray from auto shops to clean mine.. and if its really bad, i use a

"Sandvic" plane.. that cuts through the

    muck no problem!

  • LOL....omg the bottle is called LUBE JOB

  • LOLOLOLOL LUBE JOB

  • that cleaning fluid, is it the same as penentrating fluid?

  • Spraying down the shaft of a 250k pot will not reach the wiper of the pot where it touchs the carbon track inside. You need to get into the back and spray through one of the small press out holes. Using ElectroLub or any good electraical contact spray is OK, its not water and will not harm anything. One thing does come to mind, if a pot is dirty and scratchy it is because the carbon on the track is wearing off to form a gunk on the wiper so assume that the pot is on its way out.

  • i took the plastic off, should i have done that?

also how do i clean the space under the strings?

  • you take them off

  • I just Jet spray mine ,use a 50/50 mix of water and garden patio grime remover and then polish it up afterwards with wire wool and cillit bang

  • this stuff works ok, but it's better to remove the plate otherwise your just spraying the gunk into the guitar.

  • they do come off. use two flat head screw drivers on each side of the volume knobs. apply equal pressure. i ussually apply a small cloth under the knob wen doin this so i dont damage my finsish. but if in doubt call in a pro lol

  • By the way, you should NEVER EVER SPRAY anything in your guitar!!!!ESPECIALLY LIQIDS!!!!

  • how can i get the knobs off my stratocaster???

  • just pull

  • They don't come off :(

I still have protecting plastic stuck under them.

  • You may have to use a srew driver also, be carefl not to scratch your finish

  • that's what so cool about using a screwdriver! you can relic your guitar up!

  • I ment use the srewdriver to help pry the knob off! Use your common sense, people!

  • they sell a tool that can remove them or put a cloth over the knob and use pliers, just be careful not to damage the knob

  • What store do you work at? I want to make sure I NEVER take my guitar there.

  • and why wouldn't you take it there?tell us the reason, really if you think that you know the right procedure why don't you tell us?i'm interested in doing by myself

  • the right way is to get into the back plate of the electronics and if you look at the flat back of the pots there will be a little opening that you can put the straw of the cleaner, turn your pot all the way open, shoot it with cleaner, then close your pot and shoot some more. then turn your pot off and on a few times. the switch you can do what he did but always use the straw so you dont get it all over your finish

  • Thank you avhcbeaver1 for that. Your way sounds much better. Do you have any tips for the fret board area. My strings seem gritty when im trying to bend notes. I seen a video where a person applied some type of liquid from what looked like a shoe polish aplicator. Any help would be apreciated.

  • How to screw guitar electronics?

  • using electro-lube.

  • hey dont destroy the color of the guitar!!!!

  • Do u know how would clean a bridge on a guitar like that?

  • get some air (no joke)

    compressed air in a can.

it blows out any dust etc then you cant get your hands on.

  • whats the thing i need to spray?

  • wow ahaha did you see when he first sprayed, it went all over the pickups. I can't even believe this guy is serious.

  • people dont do that to ur guitars coz it will screw it up!! is that guy even serious hahaha cleaning electronics??? just make sure its dust/liquid free!!

  • if i ever make it big you would be the LAST person to be my tech. you should be banned from touching guitars

  • well that's good cause you won't make it big

  • Hah! You are no professional!

It is best to mask the guitar finish and pick-ups so the lubricant does not go anywhere except the intended areas.

You can't even use an aerosol can properly!

  • If this guy is a Pro Guitar Tech then I'm a Tech God, don't get me wrong I thank all for sharing their info with others who do not have a clue, but after watching two of these clips I'm so glad I learned to do this myself decades ago.

  • Dude your an idiot. Spraying the shaft of the pot isn't going to do a damb thing.

You need to get at the back of the pot or switch for it to do any good so the contact cleaner can clean the contacts inside the pot.

  • Dude, if you sprayed that stuff on the finish of my guitar I would turn into a three-headed Godzilla.

  • @dantierneyzilla

    me too

  • dude. i already know how to polish my knob. LOL

seriously, he may be a professional but there are more important things ot clean on a guitar than knobs and switches. anyone know how to clean pickups?

  • i was expecting to see how to clean the pick ups

  • ya same here man

  • From title I was expecting to see how to clean the guitar, like the body ,neck, etc, this really doesn't cover much t'all.

  • Well, it is helpfull.

  • thats all gd.... but i wanted to no how to clean the surface of ur guitar
