If any decline in cartoons has taken place (which on a large degree it has), it didn't JUST happen in the 2000s, marketing decisions of the past and new people with different goals (Anne Sweeney for Disney as an example) caused creative possibilities to go down the drain. However, even though new cartoons are different, that shouldn't mean we forget about the old ones. For many decades new cartoons have been introduced along with oldies, for example....

Then in the 2000s, marketing strategy tells executives that preteens don't want to see anything made before they were born, so here we are today, most particularly with Disney
