@wowkidlrn2play Join cadets it will introduce you to the other side or the military, what you do 90% of the time. Drill, map and compass, bush craft. Plus when you leave and if you decide to join you get paid as a third year. And it will help you make sure it's for you. So when you turn 12 go join, you won't regret it. I'm 16 hopefully (if i get my parents signature) on way to the QOROC reserves.

@ProtectDavid Making 32k a year as a 18 year old Private in regular force is better than most full time jobs for someone that age. If you were in the Canadian reserves for a year starting out, you'd be making around the same as a US Private in the Regular Force.
@SNeyePED you pay pay for rations and quarters if you live in the shacks, it just gets deducted off your pay before it goes into your bank account, at least out here in edmonton (3VP)

@Unregenerate What I suggest you two do is go and talk to your local reserve regiment and be a weekend warrior. Since you both aren't 18 you can't join regular force, but you can join as a reservist. As a reservist you could still be an infantry soldier and later on switch to regular force STILL as an infantry soldier. The only people regular force will take for infantry during these times are infantry reservists or people who have done something that make them stand out.

@SNeyePED They can join the regs at 17. Use to be that you can join the Res at 16, but that was recently changed. The reason being for the 17 year old enlistment age is that by the time they are done training they will be well over the age of 18.

@Unregenerate infantry is opening up, recruiters have to say that, go back in three weeks when they are given an enrollment window and do your CFAT now
@Unregenerate I don't know if your heart is set on the infantry, but you might want to check and see what if there are any support trades that suit your fancy. I have completed the first half of my paramedic training, and in two weeks I have a tryout for a spot in the JIBC Primary Care Paramedic program. The CF will not only pay for the course, but I will recieve a wage during the time in which I take the course. If being out in the centre of the action is what you want, there are many options.
@AFroese I've been considering what I wanted to do for a career for the last 4 years, and everytime I thought of what I wanted to do, I came back to this. Infantry is the only thing I see myself doing. I know there are tons of different things that can be done in the military, and tons of stuff that puts you in the middle of the action, but infantry I know without a doubt is what I want to do. That's what makes it the best the US military the best overall. If you talk to any competent US military member we hold Canadian, UK, and Australian troops in the highest regard.

@puppetmaster532 Housing and food is free only in the US, in Canada you have to pay for it. It still is better here because a private in the US makes 18k and a private here makes 32k.

@ProtectDavid Making 32k a year as a 18 year old Private in regular force is better than most full time jobs for someone that age. If you were in the Canadian reserves for a year starting out, you'd be making around the same as a US Private in the Regular Force.

@ProtectDavid What do you mean F money. My buddy has been an armoured soldier for 3.5 years and makes almost 60 grand a year. Thats comparable to being a tradesman acept in the military the monday to friday routine is slacked, maybe even too slacked

@Unregenerate What I suggest you two do is go and talk to your local reserve regiment and be a weekend warrior. Since you both aren't 18 you can't join regular force, but you can join as a reservist. As a reservist you could still be an infantry soldier and later on switch to regular force STILL as an infantry soldier. The only people regular force will take for infantry during these times are infantry reservists or people who have done something that make them stand out.

@SNeyePED They can join the regs at 17. Use to be that you can join the Res at 16, but that was recently changed. The reason being for the 17 year old enlistment age is that by the time they are done training they will be well over the age of 18.

@Unregenerate I don't know if your heart is set on the infantry, but you might want to check and see what if there are any support trades that suit your fancy. I have completed the first half of my paramedic training, and in two weeks I have a tryout for a spot in the JIBC Primary Care Paramedic program. The CF will not only pay for the course, but I will recieve a wage during the time in which I take the course. If being out in the centre of the action is what you want, there are many options.

@AFroese I've been considering what I wanted to do for a career for the last 4 years, and everytime I thought of what I wanted to do, I came back to this. Infantry is the only thing I see myself doing. I know there are tons of different things that can be done in the military, and tons of stuff that puts you in the middle of the action, but infantry I know without a doubt is what I want to do. At least i would be doing something interesting insted of sitting on my ass photo-copying papers and homework assingments" Worth every detention i got.

@Outlawpimp101 Generally true for basic units. Quantity is necessary for power projection. The biggest difference is America's integration of aviation and naval assets. That's what makes it the best the US military the best overall. If you talk to any competent US military member we hold Canadian, UK, and Australian troops in the highest regard.

2:26 looks like US troops (They don't have the green finish, and they are carrying carbines whereas the majority of CF doesn't.) but it could be CF
