Well, the first two sentences of this video are really quite offensive. The EU Parliament doesn't have real power - that's what us moderate No-to-Lisbon folks have been saying. It's the Commission that makes new initiatives. Transfer power to the people and the parliament, let the commissioners just be 'figureheads', not dictators. Plenty of referenda & a viable Parliament would certainly solve a lot of headaches. But of course, I forget, the word "referendum" has no real meaning in the EU.
Please dont vote for these people they will return us to the dark ages and condem all economies into a massive depression were they to gain any power / influence
I agree with the 'grassroots democracy' approach that the Greens aspire to take. However, the Greens will get hammered in the upcoming election because they chose to go into government with arrogant and inept Fianna Fail and also gave up the very things they actually stand for. The Greens have made themselves irrelevant in Ireland. They are seen as idealistic but impotent.
MEPs mean nothing to most ordinary people and it's just a well-paid job in Brussels as far as most people are concerned.
