Yes this was in Afghanistan around may 2006, that was a 75mm rifle, and those where not contractors they where U.S. Army ETT's (Embedded Training Teams) working with the ANA (Afghan National Army). The ANA were very welcoming to us and we had never fired one before. If I remember right he said he knew what he was doing. aparently he was wrong because that thing is supposed to be mounted to a tripod or gun mount from the back of a truck.

actually crouching woulda did nothing, this isnt a rocket laucnher but actually a larger diameter gun. The javelin or tha AT-4 doesnt look anything like this and these are the type of rocket launchers we have taken over there. The AT-4 and the Javelin are bad mother fuckers but do not have near the recoil of this though. You can stand when firing the AT-4 but must crouch to fire the Javelin

That was a "recoilless" rifle. It looks to be an older Russian version. That model would normally have been tripod or light vehicle mount, but not bad for a close in roadside vehicle whacking.  The US man fired model was a 90mm (M67) and was truely was able to be controlled. The US had a larger 105mm Jeep, Mule, Ontos Tank.
