I guess they wanted to put in a stage with classical music just like they did with "Night on Bald Mountain" with the first game.. if they eve make a Earthworm Jim 3 they ought to follow tradition... maybe Mozart or Tchaikovsky next time?
The level take place in a digestive system because Villi is a finger like cell that moves food into the gut, and for some reason there are fish plaques, neon signs, pinball bouncers, sheep, house pieces, and even a GAME SHOW!
It's weird when hear people say they prefer the SNES or Genesis version, particularly when it's apparent that the CD version represents the sound quality those consoles were trying to achieve. But to each his own.
dunno, i like the snes version of this song, it didn't sound like a piano, more like a weird synth making the level more interesting, and by the way, what is earthworm jim wearing in this level? its like a hairless rodent???'....peace
musically a better version then the genesis one but still the genesis version remains best, better gameplay and even better graphics in certain levels.
i haven't played the 1st game allot i have it on genesis and sega cd,the sega cd version has a pasword option tought, and is considerd to be the best version.
This is one of the most chilling and beautiful pieces of music you will ever hear. Piano Sonata No. 14 a.k.a. "Moonlight Sonata" was written by Ludwig Von Beethoven in the 17th century supposedly for a forbidden lover of his who was 17 at the time. Earthworm Jim 2 would mark the first time I heard this piece. The first time I heard it I loved it and to this day it remains my favorite classical tune of all time.
It is the same for me....I heard it the first time a long time ago when I was much younger while playing this game and back then and I loved it so much....and still today I love it A MASTERPIECE
This music made that level so much creepier than it was supposed to be.

The "Moonlight Sonata" was composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Who the kiss is this Tommyboy Tallarico???
Allroundmoviemaker 7 months ago
@Allroundmoviemaker He was a video game music composer. He's done quite a lot of kick ass soundtracks.

@hiynastrike Is a planet with the form of a digestive system... nobody can imagine something like that except for the creators of Earthworm jim :P

Hehe, its funny. In the first game they mentioned
"Elephants, tigers and blind cave salamanders"
And if you check the game on steam. It says this
"You get to play as a blind Cave salamander (We're actually not kidding this time)

@sakaelporro It's a reference to the first game's easy ending for the Sega CD. Or at least, that's how I've always viewed it.

It's all in a matter of opinion.
For I've heard others say virtually the same exact things about the SNES version, or the Saturn and PSX version.
I personally think the Saturn version is the best, visually, gameplay wise, and musically.
Again, it's a matter of opinion.(also, I prefer the normal Genesis version of EWJ though)

maybe it is.music wise defnitly but the puppy love levels where off and pasword 2.

I agree about Puppy love, but I never saw the use for passwords anyways, since the first one didn't have them.

but since it ain't an easy game they come in handy.puppy love pisses you off.serious.

Whenever I see a piano I feel compelled to play this song, just to see if a secret passage opens.

Where does this theme come from? It's almost as if... I've heard it before... in Resident Evil.
MegamanNG 2 years ago
It's basically "Moonlight Sonata" by Ludwig Von Beethoven.
Dragon2020 2 years ago
Go figure. That theme was heard in Resident Evil as well.
