Putting rabbits in a trance is not good for them. Its a state a fear. They go into this state when they're trying to "play dead" for a predator. The predator wont have a hard grip on his prey because he thinks its dead, this gives the bunny a better chance to escape. please do not do this to your bunnies. It stresses them out, it doesnt relax them.
Wanna know why bunnies "play dead"? Because they have a nerve in their spine putting them to "sleep" in case of a predator. Hey, if you keep doing this, she may actually die. I think when you do this you are treating your bunny as prey. They are uncomfortable and continued use of this can lead to loss of breath and heart attacks. Treat your bunny as you should.
I would do this with my rabbit and i thought it was funny and cute until i found out that in fact there spine gets blood cut off through it which in terms practically is choking the poor like wabbit. i stopped after i found out this information..... please do so the same!!!
this is how u do it... u lie them in ur arms, then u lay them on ur lap then finally lift their arms next 2 their hed (NOT 2 FAR) they usually stay relaxed for.. a few seconds (TIP: if ur bunny starts kicking about just put him/her down then try agen about 15 mins later if they do it agen, leave them. it seems they dont like it hope this helps! :3
i have my bunny lay like that in my lap sometimes... :3 she usually falls asleep like that... not sure if its good for them to fall asleep on their backs though XD i flip her back over afterward :3
ive just ried this and my rabbit went crazy. didnt like it one bit so i put him down. he's just came right back to me to lie by my feet as usual though so theres no hard feelings between us!!
my rabbit doesnt like being 'persuaded ' on to his back (gently of course ! ) and my wife goes mad at me if i try ! is it definately safe for the little dudes back?
lol good trick but basically if u put them on their back it triggers somthing on their back to just go asleep or hypnotize but this is pretty cool nice vid man
Actually nothing on their back triggers. It's a tactic that wild bunnies would use when predators went up to them. They would literally play dead to avoid death or fatal injuries. Then they would suddenly spring to life and run away. As a last resort, they might fight back. It's a natural instinct, not a trick 0xpanda.
this is a true thing that happens! its not a chain letter! its kinda scary at first but it really works!! paste this message into 3 comments and press ALT F1 and your crushes name will appear on the screen!!! its soo wierd if you dont want
The state you have put your rabbit in is part of a bag of instinctual tricks to escape a predator. When a rabbit is grabbed by a predator the rabbit will freeze and imitate prey that has been killed a dead rabbit. By doing this the rabbit will boost its chances of escape and fatal injuries.
My rabbit is the same exact breed as this one and before i ever saw this video i did the same thing months ago. but i laid her down on the floor and walked away and she was still like that.
this is a true thing that happens! its not a chain letter! its kinda scary at first but it really works!! paste this message into 3 comments and press ALT F1 and your crushes name will appear on the screen!!! its soo wierd!
Actually, it's not mean. It's a rabbit's instinct to "play dead" like that while in an predator's mouth, so the predator will loosen it's grip and the rabbit can escape.

Yea, well, the person who posted this thought it was an intelligent thing to delete my previous post on this "hypnotizing", which is in actuality a defense response that all rabbits do. It is NOT recommended that you do this as the bunny can actually have a heart attack if startled out of this. This is not a trick. Shame on you for deleting what is considerate advice.
actually this can really relax a rabbit, it's recommended by vets to help relax a rabbit when trimming its nails. Trust me it wouldn't sit still if it was startled from this. You can't flip a rabbit onto its back if it doesnt trust you and it takes a LOT of time to train them to do that.
Actually, if they are handled from a very young age (I handle mine practically from birth) they actually get used to it and it is easier to train them, just as a side note. It also makes it easier to sex them when they are upside-down.
wud really help to do this my bunny is skittish of bein picked up and she doesnt like me liftin or holdin her legs to check nails She doesnt like being flipped onto her back and unlike my 1st bunny she doesnt freeze as soon as i take hold of the scruff Could sum1 plz help me by telling or showing me what i should do to calm her down when i put her on her back Tried today and she kicked and freaked out so i put her back down cause i didnt want to hurt or scare her Any help?
Hi, I have bunnies that can't tolerate being on their backs, I don't push it because maybe it is just their personality?! I have one of my boy bunnies groomed and nail trimmed at the vet--there is no darn way I can do it! If your bunny is young, just work with her every day, hold her on her back in your arms just a little every day and she may get used to it. thanks for watching Emily, she's working on her new music vid!

I agree with you. I think it is a personality thing, and if you force it, you can cause some real damage if they twist etc. Our bunster loves to be handled and is just like a puppy, BUT he hates to be picked up. Once we have him he is OK but I can tell he hates it. Whenever I have tried to just put him on his back he fights . To clip his nails he is fine and sits in our lap while the other person clips. I can tell though that he hates the control of being held, so we seldom pick him up.

Still dont want to put her on her back much, i just want all her experiences with me to be happy ones. I've actually just been to the vets recently to trim her nails and thats how i will be doing it so its alright :) after all its only £2:40 or sumthing each time so thats no biggie! Thanks anyway :)

the bunny might wonder whats going on but as long as you are gentle and reassure him he will be fine, and slip into a trance no problem.
its the best way to clip their nails without distressing them.

It's not hypnotising. A rabbit behaves like it's paralized when you put it on it's back. Vets do it alot for alot of checkups and proceedures.
