First off. This was a great movie we watched it in my creative writing class and I can honestly say the meaning of this movie touched me. to be honest I would rather have amazing stories of my life rather than normal I mean what sounds more interesting? Mr. Edward bloom I tip my hat to you my good sir. :)
@theguywhomakesmovies Agreed, but to some extent judging a film by whether it moves you or not is usually a good yard stick to measure whether the film is successful or not. When you strip away everything and take a film down it's pure intent, eight times out of ten a film is made to draw you into the situation of it's protagonist and his or her's situation and get you to empathise with them. Therefore if you're moved by what you experience, chances are it's halfway to being a success...
from start to finish I was crying, I love this movie so much, its so powerful and just beautiful, I always aspire to live my life like this, the immortality of memory...
The first time I had seen that movie, I had switched on the tv at that exact part... I had never seen that movie before and I could not guess what was happening... Yet, strangely, I cried... After having watched the whole movie, I cried even more... love that one... <3
Hi everyone! One of my friends, a top graduate of USC film school wrote and directed this short film called THE BROKEN HEART OF GNOCCHI BOLOGNESE. It's a whimsical, fun, romantic comedy with a similar sensibility to BIG FISH. The trailer is listed under my favorites on my YouTube page or you can find it by searching for the title. The entire film is available on the iPad app Play Festival Films. The link for the iPad app is listed in the description of the trailer. Check it out. Thanks!
This is such an amazing scene, and i think alot of people can relate with wanting to communicate emotionally with parents before they die, yet it becomes too late.
its a truly amazing ending: you finally see that the two are exactly the same down deep -- they are both gifted with the power to put smiles on other peoples' faces through storytelling... and in that way they are both immortal in the sense that they change other peoples lives for the better.... forever.
"and the strange thing is there's not a sad face to be found, everyone is just so glad to see you and send you off right." ...holy shit, that line gets me
It inspires me, to remember every thought I have about loved ones past and how they become immortal by that very reason. These are the movies that should be made all the time, the ones that touch you in your very heart.
I lost it when he said "The story of my life". this makes me think of my father so much that it shakes me up sometimes. I saw this movie about 100 times and I cry EVERY TIME i see this scene. A truly wonderful film
I genuinely think this is one of the most underrated movies of all time. Noone ever mentions it next to Edward Scissorhands or Nightmare Before Christmas, but it's just such a tear-jerker!
@masaidan You should add Ed Wood to that list. An underperformer at the box office, but an outstanding film nonetheless. Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi and Bill Murray stole the show in my opinion.
@masaidan So true it is underrated. It's forgotten by the masses which are lost anyhow on things that are not shiny - new - or up to date. I mean I'm only 23 and I saw it a few years back but it's phenomenal none the less. A movie with heart and thought behind its self.
This scene is emotional awesomeness! When I first saw this, I lost my shit at "He's Here!" after seeing all of those people because when I go, that's what I want, to see all of those people that were in my life from one time to another one last time.

This scene in particular reminds me of the end of Titanic: where all the memories of people are revived and everyone is happy and at peace.

Will sees all the characters that his father put into the stories that kept him so far away.
It's amazing.
