I guess I have to pay for my garbage can because the taxes that I already pay , that are suppose to pay for garbage pickup and disposal, are all going to pay the sanitation workers pensions.
On today's news, they had an interview with Mayor Miller at some marathon, and he was wearing an earring! On his left ear. It was the first time I had seen him wearing one. I looked carefully in case it was just glare or sweat, but yup, it looked like a gold hoop in his ear.
Not that it means anything, I just thought it was interesting, considering none of his mayoral pictures show him with one.
Finally David Miller the dumbass shit has resigned. Today should be a new Toronto holiday!!!!!! Every year going forward we should celebrate this day the day David Miller the dumb shit left office!!! Now hopefully his successor will begin to repeal the taxes and other policies David Miller the dumb shit enacted
Miller is such a genius with the gun ban, he can now just make all crime illegal and then it would solve... hey wait a minute, crime is already illegal. WTH we got snookered again!
Miller has raped Toronto. He helped his union buddies and has left the working class overtaxed and under-serviced. Miller has ruined the CITY I LOVE. He totally effed up my St. Clair - MY stomping grounds. He didn't ask US he just wrecked it! HE WRECKED IT!!! eff you Mayor Miller!
If David Miller doesn't like cars, how come he won't turn parking lots downtown into parks with bike paths? With very limited parking, people will then be FORCED to carpool, or take transit.
Oh yeah I forgot, HE NEEDS YOUR MONEY to park your car !!!
ahhhh... it's always about the money. It's not about the environment.
And while Miller reduces lanes on Jarvis St and wherever else to put in more bike lanes, the traffic just gets worse, while pollution does also, while people continue to idle their cars while stuck, and the oil companies continue to rake in that dough. More pollution huh Miller? Way to go. Good job idiot !!
you can't blame him for Toronto's design! there will always be problems parking, no matter! Toronto is an old city, originally made up of several different cities...maybe you should look around at some other north american cities and you will see that parking is just as expensive, and difficult! Stop picking on Toronto, there's more wrong with the world then just one fucking city!
In simple terms, the law of karma suggests that a person's mental and physical actions determine the progress of his life on earth. What ever actions he undertakes, both his good and bad actions, impact his life in several ways and bring twists and turns in the course of his life. His bad actions lead him to suffering and unhappiness, while his good actions lead him to happiness and spiritual success.
bad actions lead to suffering through cosmic forces, not other people deliberately going out to harm them! Innocent people with good karma get hurt every day...you completely misunderstand the concept.
This guy is a joke, he makes lastman look like Alexander the Great. He should be out .....just cocky no remorse for his actions , then their is Giambrone another mess. I want him out now, I should go for mayor a citizen from toronto born and raised at least I care for my city. Hes a piece of garbage That should be the first thing thrown out when the communist workers go back to work.
That was once of the worst parodies I have ever heard. Sinatra should be rolling over in his grave. If all that time was put into it at least do something creative with the lyrics. Here is a clue. Watch Al Yankovic for a few weeks to get the hang of it.
Within hours of the strike's commencement, numerous providers emerged to offer garbage services at a reasonable price and, more importantly, with a smile.
Toronto's garbage strike creates hazards to the public health and inconvenience to all, but it does have some saving virtues. It highlights the self-centredness of the unions, which have again timed their strike for summer to maximize the fetidity of the garbage and the distress of the citizenry. And it reminds us of the resiliency in our society, through the entrepreneurship that instantly sprang up in response.
The sole relief from this aesthetic occurs on garbage day, when Toronto's workers leave the emptied bins strewn on sidewalks, creating a hardship for people in wheelchairs or mothers pushing baby strollers, and an eyesore for all.
To overcome the low productivity of the city's aging garbage workers, the city of Toronto now requires each household to use uniform, city-supplied garbage bins that garbage trucks can lift for disposal. These ungainly bins --one for food wastes, one for garbage and one for recyclables -- have become the chief aesthetic on front lawns and porches throughout the city.
Pretty much sums it up, but Toronto is doomed by its own voting demographics. The bulk of the voting public in Toronto are either the Loony Left (old hippies, granola eaters, CBC employees, unionists and academics) politically apathetic rich folk, and immigrants. Conservatives in city politics have been ridiculed and villainized. Won't change.
I left the 416 years ago when I saw the tide turning.
By the way, trash day was today where I am now, and my parks are lovely!
It appears that you haven't the foggiest idea of what the strike is about. Stop watching media reports on TV, as they only report about 10% truth and 90% BS. Get to understand the facts before posting again.
Toronto the laughing stock of the country. The people got exactly what they deserve. And guess what, in 2010 they'll vote him back in office again. Even that idiot Lastman is starting to look good ?
Everyone is laughing at Toronto. I'm laughing because I would have been very helpful in ending the strike, because I would not have sat back and have allowed this BS to continue. But that's typical Toronto, DO NOTHING but allow this to ruin the summer of many good honest hard working citizens.
Miller is a Socialist Czar and has a lap dog follower council. His agenda of tax and spend is destroying the city and, lets not forget it was the unions that got him elected. Of course not every citizen is responsible, but a vast majority are. Last election wasn't his platform the Island bridge, please ! The answer is to toss this useless green bastard. Ever notice how he blames every one else for Toronto's problems. You are and will continue to be the laughing stock of the country.
Again, I will repeat myself. How can you blame the entire city for something like this? If you don't agree with Miller, that's fine. I don't agree with you. But just as we should not be blamed for having Stephen Harper as our Prime Minister, Toronto as a whole, should not be blamed for what goes wrong.
I would also like to ask, do you know Miller personally?
Have you ever worked for a union? You should be so lucky that they even exist...My last question is, are you a resident of Toronto? If so, then you are to blame as well...since you so decidedly choose to put blame on them...if not, then clearly you are poking your nose where it doesn't belong.
The citizens of TORONTO should be to blame, You had your chance to pick TORY
but instead chose this DONKEY not once but twice !!!!! MILLER is a HORSES ASS !!The workers of Toronto are doing their thing whether it's right or wrong. Hell if the teachers can do it every three years why not the employees of Toronto, they don't get 3-4 months off a year like teachers. I am not a City of Toronto employee nor have a relative of one,but I do support their cause!!!!!!
Most people don't get the luxury of working for a union (do you know how difficult it is to get in i don't have a relative that works in one for example). This is why so many people are pissed with unions - we work for private companies where sacrifices are made all over the place, and we don't get the luxury that the unions do. They are living in a dream world. I am not even totally against unions, but a strike for 36 days plus over some of the issues? It is disgusting.
ahh, ic! That makes perfect sense! You are jealous that you don't work for one...That's really too bad. You should get into one, then maybe you might stop bashing them...the security of knowing that you have something big to back you up is a really good feeling. That's what strikes are for - so you don't get screwed over. I'm sorry, but if I had to pick up other peoples dirty garbage all the time, I'd be on strike too. Not to mention how many people put sharp objects open in a garbage bag,
You know...it's fine to have an opinion and disagree, but maybe you should take into consideration that part of a union is that when they say, "strike" you have to do it, whether you agree or disagree. So you could be potentially harming someone who has the exact same view as you, so how is that karma?
by the way, I think you should really look up the definition of karma. What you are considering karma, even by the incorrect definition is not, in fact, karma at all. The commonly incorrect
"So you could be potentially harming someone who has the exact same view as you"
"YOU" meaning me? I didn't say anything about ME harming anyone. I don't even live in Toronto. I said that "MAYBE" you'll (talking to the garbage workers) be seeing a lot more sharp objects (somebody was complaining about them in an earlier post) in the garbage (meaning that angry residents may throw in more objects in response to half of their summer being ruined by the strike).
assumption is that karma means that what you put out into the world, will be through cosmic energy, returned back to you.
Intentionally going out to harm someone by definition, is not cosmically returning energy to its source.
The origin of the word karma is, as most people already know, from buddism. It actually does not mean what most people interpret it to mean. All it means is, peace.
and expect them to just pick it up, no questions asked!
and you know what, I know exactly how difficult it is to get into one...2 of my uncles are in the steamfitters union, and my grandfather was the president of it for a number of years...
Maybe there's a good reason why you couldn't get in?
there's more to it then that. You have clearly stated previously, "Most people don't get the luxury of working for a union" also, "I am not even totally against unions..." But then you completely contradict yourself by saying, "a strike...is disgusting"
You don't make any sense at all! Maybe you should rethink what you said...
If you are going to quote me, don't put dots in the middle of the sentence. I said "a strike for 36 days plus over some of the issues is disgusting." And it is. I think a strike should be an absolute last resort, and should be over something much worse, like major job losses. This is the second strike is seven years - is this going to keep happening over every little issue these people cannot get? And sick days should be used for just that - sick days. Not bonuses to cash out on.
they're called ellipsis points. It's weird when someone cuts out the middle of your sentence and changes the complete meaning of what you said, isn't it? The news media does this all the time. Did it ever occur to you that what you read about people saying is completely inaccurate?
All i know is the fact that sick day banking and getting pay out for up to 18 of them a year is unfair. And the city is a mess because there's been a five week strike which was senseless. It is gross. And you must be so proud of yourself to misquote people. You are obviously the one who expects inaccuracy. Now go back to the job you probably relish in because your poppy got it for you... if you even live in the 416!
no, I no longer live in toronto because I choose not to live in a big city. I don't complain because I don't live there. I don't hate on it, because I don't live tehre and it's not my problem. I'm sick and tired of people hating on another city just for the sake of having something to hate. 95% of the people I know taht say they hate toronto have never even been there.
And no, actually, I am not close with my family at all. I paid for college on my own and got food from the food bank. I'm a
forestry technician living in BC. I like nature and I don't blame anyone for the huge polluting, dirty cities that exist in the world because it is human nature to conquer and distroy. I hate when people point fingers at everyone but themselves and this whole thing just rubs me the wrong way. I'm sick of hate and that's why I continue replying to this stupid bullshit
I an go on too honey - you are assuming i am hating when i said this strike and only this strike was senseless - not hate on all unions and not hate on Toronto. I live here though - you don't right now. It has been awful here, and most people are very frustrated with this union. Keep replying - i will keep replying too! Forever!!!!!!!!
What is so stupid of people like you, is that all the mayor and his minions have to do is bring in the toll roads, because I know many of the city workers DO NOT LIVE in the 416 area. So what, you get a raise, Toronto will just rake it all back in.
The strike was primarily over banking sick days and being able to cash in at retirement - that may seem like a little issue for you but city workers have had that very provision in their contracts for decades - ergo - it is not a minor issue if you have been counting on the same thing for all the years of your employment - and contrary to what most think working for the city is not a cushy job - dedicated staff serve vulnerable citizens of the city - most of you couldn't cope for a day .
yes because every job outside the city is a cushy job. Not. These people who work for the city need to get over themselves... there are pro's and cons to every job. And there are sacrifices made to contracts that we thought were going to be there forever. It is called the real world.
well the "real world" as you call it, is a cold and unforgiving place. unions were put in place to help us so that we could live happily and without worrying that when we got old we would die for lack of money to buy food...this is canada, deal with it.
well there's people who are facing that situation due to massive job losses in a world where they didn't have that protection. Meanwhile we have people striking over issues like not being able to cash out sick days as if it were a bonus. Keep replying you big mouth who doesn't even live here and lived near a smelly temporary dump site that is probably contaminated now - keep replying. I am never going to stop.
"Pothole" Miller is one of the main reasons I'm moving out of the city of Toronto. Tired of the growing taxes with nothing to show for it, the brutal road conditions, and city hall antics.
Live in 416 and work in 416? Who can afford the taxes?
I am very familiar with the city unions and how they work...time to fire them all and hire people who are actually willing to do their jobs. Starting with Miller.
mayor miller is an idiot paying the supervisor,s $75 an hour to take your garbage this is on top of there own pay 10-12 hours a day plus over 2 million so far for the fences for the sites and paying for hr to video tape the strikers jezzzzzzzzz go figure time your outta here miller
TVD2007 - what you may not get is that the best thing for the union would be to get an injunction and get an arbitrator in...listen, if there weren't ever unions you would still be working for Ebenezer Scrooge.
This should be The Centrepiece of John Tory's campaign to oust His Comminess next year. 1st thing on the agenda? PRIVATIZE almost everything! No more strikes, no more garbage dumps in parks, no more being stranded on the mainland instead of going to the Island. Bye bye, Miller.
Everyone in Toronto keep this I want this to be playing every day in 2010 way to go it's my birthday today and this is the best present I could ever get POWER TO RESPONSIBLE SELF SUFFICIENT PEOPLE EVERYWHERE
Well I wouldnt be glad of living in a stink hole called Peel. But if I did live in Peel, I would be minding my own business and not commenrting on another city's municipal affairs
I should've been more specific. Caledon is part of Peel Region and has reliable garbage service. So far anyway. That makes it not a "stinkhole" imho anyway.
David Miller is trying to look tough while still courting the union vote. He has been talking about injunctions over and over again, yet little has been done. He is supposed to be representing us the people, but he is too busy taking care of friends and their special interests. We need a real mayor who will do what it takes to clean up Toronto. Take away power from the unions. The ambulance workers who chose union rheteric claiming they had to wait for the police let a man die! SHAME!
And for the record I agree with the entire video, except the whole bike vs car thing. Some of us choose to bike, regardless of what the mayor says. Dont want to drive for an hour? Then dont live in the 905 and work in the 416
Buddy....the city legally can brung in private companies to haul the garbage from the temp sites to the city owned garbage dump in the 519 area. But he wont do it, even if the health costs outway the relatively smaller financial cost
You are clearly one of the people that I AM SUPPORTING WITH MY OVER PRICED PROPERTY TAXES. Toronto needs to be cleaned up - starting with freeloaders !
Miller was a good mayor.

Bad Karma: The logic behind the concept of Karma
Hinduism and Karma
In simple terms, the law of karma suggests that a person's mental and physical actions determine the progress of his life on earth. What ever actions he undertakes, both his good and bad actions, impact his life in several ways and bring twists and turns in the course of his life. His bad actions lead him to suffering and unhappiness, while his good actions lead him to happiness and spiritual success.

2manyutubeusernames 2 years ago
I an go on too honey - you are assuming i am hating when i said this strike and only this strike was senseless - not hate on all unions and not hate on Toronto. I live here though - you don't right now. It has been awful here, and most people are very frustrated with this union. Keep replying - i will keep replying too! Forever!!!!!!!!

What is so stupid of people like you, is that all the mayor and his minions have to do is bring in the toll roads, because I know many of the city workers DO NOT LIVE in the 416 area. So what, you get a raise, Toronto will just rake it all back in.
The laughs truly do continue.

The strike was primarily over banking sick days and being able to cash in at retirement - that may seem like a little issue for you but city workers have had that very provision in their contracts for decades - ergo - it is not a minor issue if you have been counting on the same thing for all the years of your employment - and contrary to what most think working for the city is not a cushy job - dedicated staff serve vulnerable citizens of the city - most of you couldn't cope for a day .
cbondi9 2 years ago
yes because every job outside the city is a cushy job. Not. These people who work for the city need to get over themselves... there are pro's and cons to every job. And there are sacrifices made to contracts that we thought were going to be there forever. It is called the real world.
iloveit123 2 years ago
well the "real world" as you call it, is a cold and unforgiving place. unions were put in place to help us so that we could live happily and without worrying that when we got old we would die for lack of money to buy food...this is canada, deal with it.
2manyutubeusernames 2 years ago
well there's people who are facing that situation due to massive job losses in a world where they didn't have that protection. Meanwhile we have people striking over issues like not being able to cash out sick days as if it were a bonus. Keep replying you big mouth who doesn't even live here and lived near a smelly temporary dump site that is probably contaminated now - keep replying. I am never going to stop.

Glad I live in the '905" region...the "REAL" city above Toronto.

"Pothole" Miller is one of the main reasons I'm moving out of the city of Toronto. Tired of the growing taxes with nothing to show for it, the brutal road conditions, and city hall antics.
canphantom 2 years ago 3
Live in 416 and work in 416? Who can afford the taxes?
I am very familiar with the city unions and how they work...time to fire them all and hire people who are actually willing to do their jobs. Starting with Miller.

Glad I live in Peel
ugive 2 years ago
Well I wouldnt be glad of living in a stink hole called Peel. But if I did live in Peel, I would be minding my own business and not commenrting on another city's municipal affairs
blarazan 2 years ago
I should've been more specific. Caledon is part of Peel Region and has reliable garbage service. So far anyway. That makes it not a "stinkhole" imho anyway.
ugive 2 years ago
It can have garbage pickup ala the simpsons with garbage men wearing suits, but it remains a stinkhole as there is nothing to do there.

HEY HEY HO HO, DAVID MILLER HAS GOT TO GO!!!!
maddogmcrae 2 years ago 2
David Miller is trying to look tough while still courting the union vote. He has been talking about injunctions over and over again, yet little has been done. He is supposed to be representing us the people, but he is too busy taking care of friends and their special interests. We need a real mayor who will do what it takes to clean up Toronto. Take away power from the unions. The ambulance workers who chose union rheteric claiming they had to wait for the police let a man die! SHAME!

Awesome. Moronto should get rid of this buffoon to be Toronto again. This guy makes lastman look like a hero
speckfire01 2 years ago 10
And for the record I agree with the entire video, except the whole bike vs car thing. Some of us choose to bike, regardless of what the mayor says. Dont want to drive for an hour? Then dont live in the 905 and work in the 416

SOOOOOO TRUE!!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
On one breath the singer is complaining about him taxing and spending and the next he is complaining that the city is not cleaning up the garbage...
whiskers123 2 years ago
Buddy....the city legally can brung in private companies to haul the garbage from the temp sites to the city owned garbage dump in the 519 area. But he wont do it, even if the health costs outway the relatively smaller financial cost

You are clearly one of the people that I AM SUPPORTING WITH MY OVER PRICED PROPERTY TAXES. Toronto needs to be cleaned up - starting with freeloaders !
