Supporting the troops does not mean supporting the Prez. Supporting the troops means being empathetic to the fact that many of them are fighting a war that they themselves do not support but have to because of a contractual obligation. Look it up bush replaced most if not all of them when he took office in his first term as do most presidents for quite some time. Yeah he does but he cant use that to influence elections and cant go around lieing about what happened.

Supporting the troops does not mean supporting the Prez. Supporting the troops means being empathetic to the fact that many of them are fighting a war that they themselves do not support but have to because of a contractual obligation. Are you really that deluded to think that military members don't think for themselves? Look it up bush replaced most if not all of them when he took office in his first term as do most presidents for quite some time. Yeah he does but he cant use that to influence elections and cant go around lieing about what happened.

What makes this different is that previous presidents appoint new attourneys when they come into office but let them get on with it after that. It's a political appointment, but not a political job. Bush and Rove via Gonzales fired these attourneys for not engaging in political prosecutions. It was the modern equivalent of the night of the long knives.

Oh my god dude, that is such a weak argument. The 93 that Clinton fired was done at the beginning of his term as all presidents have done. It is unprecedented to fire and replace all these people in the middle of one's term of office. Not to mention the "why" they were fired.

It is not "unprecedented" to fire US Attorneys. If Bush wanted to replace a few before he leaves office, that is his right as President. The "why" is immaterial. Clinton fired all 93 for purely political reasons. Was that a scandal?

The Democrats filibuster Bush's judicial nominees. That was unprecedented. Asking a US Attorney to resign is not unprecedented. I did not say what Clinton did was a scandal. What I am saying is that both he and Bush have the authority to hire and fire them at will. They are politically appointed jobs and everyone knows it.

Hey Filthy...The U.S. prosecutors that were fired were Republican, not Democrats. The problem was that they apparently weren't Republican enough. They weren't true Bushies, and wouldn't do the administration's bidding, who tried to interfere with ongoing investigations. The Attorney General's office is supposed to administer justice equally, not use their power to gain political advantage. It's not really that hard to understand.

What? Can you lay out a cohesive argument? The reason non-Republicans are upset with Gonzales is that HE politicized a department that should not have been partisan. And if you would have done your homework you would have known that all the attorneys fired were Republicans (but not loyal "Bush-ees").

What difference does that make? He did not "politicize" the Department of Justice. He decided to make some changes in US Attorneys, which is well within his authority. It had nothing to do with being "loyal Bush-ees", which is not a bad thing since they all work for the President.
