To say Andre Lewis was 1 of the pioneers of electronic funk is WRONG!! ANDRE LEWIS IS THE 1, THE ONLY,THE FIRST, AND THE LAST WORD ON ELECTRONIC FUNK!!! THE ORIGINATOR!!! HE WAS SEQUENCING BEFORE THERE WAS SEQUENCING!! MAN WAS A FUNK -CLAV - GENIUS!!! EVERYONE COPIED HIM!!! EVERYONE!! HE WAS THE FIRST TO USE A SYNTH LIKE THAT!!!! THE PHRST!!! MADE SOUNDS THEY STILL USE TODAY!!! MAXAYN WOULD OPEN FOR LABELLE, AND TEAR IT UP!!! LUCKILY THEY BACKED UP LABELLE!! ANDRE LEWIS GENIUS!!!!
There's a store, or was a few years ago in S/W philly, on 52nd & Baltimore Ave, right across from an old church. they had vinyl , tape & cd's. I'm from Philyy, and on my visits home during the early 2000's, they had a lot of stuff, funk, R7B , olddies, you name it. I havn't been there in about 3 yrs., but check it out .
well...I moved a couple of years ago, however, there was a record store on Germantown Ave at Chelten, right below chelten on the same side of the street as the Walgreens...athere's a guy in there that makes all kinds of tapes and cd's of all...All the oldies...I talked to him awhile back about Maxanne's album, because a true ole'G knows about it....and he did..has the album...see if you can find him...I bet the stores still there
Wow! The guy you were talking about? I was hanging out with him on Tuesday. HE mentioned it, and I told him about our oncerversation. It's a smal world afterall.
sampled in "skyzoo - never sleep". seeing people saying "sampled by..." or "that sample was sick!" etc etc. makes me think wow, we give more credit to the sampler then the person who originally did the song in the first place... quite sad how unoriginal music is nowadays. hip hop will always sample seeing that probably 90 percent of it is based on someone elses work. people like pete rock, j dilla did some creative ways of sampling, but these days its all a fucking loop, no thought.
@destinrm it is indeed hard to find creative hip hop producers these days. i recommend checking out Damu The Fudgemunk. I know the name is weird, but just type him into youtube, he makes incredible and original music, and has a couple free albums on his website.
@marlom5 --whats the skinny on that reunion/re-release action brother? been loving Maxayn music since it first came out in the 70s. the world needs to know how fresh this music still is
Thanx for posting this song. I bought this album in October 1974 while I was on R & R from Vietnam. I had frogotten about Maxayn.Thanx for the memory.
This is the first time I've heard ANYONE play this song since the 70's! I have the 45 and the album in mint condition.Love this number. I also remember Maxayn collaborating with a group called Mandre in the 70's but that project never too off. Thanx
Great ! The previous entry was just a 'taste' of this cut! Maxayn at their best ! Thanks for posting. Capricorn should reissue there music on CD. Remastered Maxayn would be truly awesome!
i can only listen to this when things are good. if you're going through her pain right now you need to press stop.

beautiful music, have you ever notice that the cover sleeves of the seventies albums
were so wonderful, just simple, sexy & their faces so rich, beautiful & polished. i wish
today's artists could step back learn & there's always something to discover
& take with you to be a great person.
