@MrPolysyllabic: Everyone goes back to the accident she had when she was a week older than 17. She stupidly ran a stop sign and killed one of her friends. She was a kid who ruined a family and she has to live with that. Ted Kennedy on the other hand was 37 when he drove off a bridge killing a young woman. He managed to pull himself out of the car/water but left her to die. He also didn't report it until the car/body was found the next day. He got a 2 month suspended sentence.

I don't imagine that if a member of your family was the one killed that day, that you'd defend her as just a "kid". Nor would you perform the age-old GOP back-peddle of isolating a Democrat in order to justify the crimes of a Republican. Shame, shame.

She should have been charged - she couldn't control that. You should be outraged at the police in her case. I didn't comment on her to engage in a Dem vs Rep argument - I just said she had charm - you felt it necessary to bring negativity. In this argument its simple: Bush = Stupid Kid; Kennedy = Coward; Neither = Murderers.

Laura Welch-Bush has spent nearly 50 years dodging responsibility. She has lied about her relationship with the boy she killed, she has attempted to blame the stop sign, the darkness, the make and model of the car her boyfriend was driving - everything except saying that she was at fault and that she should be held accountable.

Both "official" stories attempt to indemnify the guilty party, using subterfuge and political ties. The really disgusting aspect is how Mrs. Bush writes in her book and exhibits in interviews how despite the turmoil of killing another person that the incident somehow became a positive at some point.
