  • Keryn in FINE.

  • "I was an atheist" and he expects this to help his case.

Intelligence is not a requisite to be an atheist, ignorance and incredulity is more than sufficient.

  • either christianity made him stupid, or hes never been an atheist. there is simply no other explanation on how this caller can be so stupid. did he just throw his skepticism and critical thinking out of the window?

  • The more stupid and wrong these christians are the more sure they are of being right.

So the more stupid you are the more christianity is the religion for you.

  • That guy has never been an atheist. Agnostic perhaps but never atheist. If he would have been an atheist he would not be theist now. It's just a word he tried to use to get to preach on TV and get trough to people. Every christian would be so exited about an atheist that has converted to be a religious person. He could make books and travel all over the world to preach with lots of money.

  • @Erholts

How could you know that? It wouldn't be the first time an atheist changed their mind.

  • @AntitheistPOV I claim that it would be. If you are really an atheist there is simply no way you will change your mind and become a believer. Bible is the ground on where the christianity is build upon and it contradicts everything that we know about this world so badly that if you are an atheist you can never be a christian again. There is just no way it can be possible. As soon as you realize the insanity that religion holds it will feel like becoming insane in purpose to become a christian.

  • @Erholts Also. I believe that you are referring to the christian claims of some atheists that have become christian just like they have these examples of muslims becoming christian etc. There is no real proof of a real atheist becoming christian. Only religious propaganda. I would not believe it in million years without solid proof because of the reasons I stated earlier.

  • @Erholts

You're assuming that being an atheist means a person must know something about the Bible or about the world. There are many, many ignorant atheists that are atheists because they're lazy or stupid, not because they've reasoned their way from theism to atheism.

Ignoring readily available evidence because it conflicts with your beliefs? Sounds familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on where I've heard that before.

  • @AntitheistPOV Yes I do assume that. That other short of "atheist" that you present is actually agnostic.

About ignoring available evidence. Please show me the evidence I'm ignoring. Also I did clearly state that these are my opinions saying that I claim. I did not say that I have evidence to support my claim as you do. So I would like to see a link to that evidence or you to present that evidence so that I can actually choose to ignore it or not.

  • @Erholts All the evidence in support of atheists turning to christians that I have ever seen are propaganda. Again, there is a difference between atheist and agnostic.

  • @Erholts

"If you are really an atheist there is simply no way you will change your mind"

"There is just no way it can be possible."

"There is no real proof of a real atheist becoming christian"

These are not opinions. They're truth claims. You're making assertions.

An agnostic is someone who doesn't know if there's are gods. An atheist disbelieves in gods. There are many ignorant atheists.

  • @Erholts

Your claim that no person has ever converted from atheism to theism is logically and rationally ridiculous. A 30 second Google search will yield hundreds of examples.

The usual process when you're going to make a claim is to research the claim first, see if the evidence agrees with you. Not to make a claim and then expect other people to provide evidence that your claim is not true.

    Again, this sounds familiar.

  • @AntitheistPOV Well. According to wikipedia that has a list of former non believers turned to christians it seems that all of them where either agnostics or has not been specified as atheists. Other links that my google brings up are: How to convert an atheist? and other christian propaganda so I still don't understand what is the problem here?

  • @Erholts

There are several atheists in the wiki list that I saw, and that's just a single resource (and not particularly reliable, since it's wiki). That's beside the point, though. The suggestion that nobody in thousands of years, out of billions of people, has ever converted from atheism is as unsupported as it is improbable.

  • @AntitheistPOV Now you are taking this into a new level just to make your point. I didn't say nobody in thousands of years, out of billions of people. I said that the fellow in question has never been an atheist. Agnostic perhaps but never atheist. Now this is turning out to be an argument about some atheist maybe turning in to christian at some point of history and that claim has no researched facts to back that up. Neither does my claim of that never happening.

  • @Erholts I never said that this would be a fact. I said I claim it to be so because of the reason I explained. Clearly suggesting that it's my opinion of the matter. My opinion has not changed and will not change with that kind of arguments. If someone claims to be an atheist and turns out to be christian then he/she never was an atheist but rather an agnostic. To me being an atheist represents a certain knowledge that God simply can not exist and thus does not exist. Nothing can change that.

  • @Erholts What would change my mind would be study of atheists (people who do not believe in existence of God because of the simple fact that it's as real as any other fictional character. There can be no maybes.) that would show that some of those atheists studied suddenly turned in to a christian. Anyone who first becomes religious more than he was before and then claims to have been an atheist before is just lying. He/she was either not thinking about it at all or was all ready an agnostic.

  • Its all about a relationship with Jesus not about a religion or denomination. So, much unbelief just like the days of Noah so shall it be in the last days. Truly we are living in the last days before Jesus returns. God is merciful & gracious He gave the people of Noah's day 120 years to repent, but only 8 souls were saved out of the entire world! Soon judgment will come upon the earth again this time by fire. People Get ready or be forever Lost!

  • @lewiss1100 I've never understood this. Does Jesus come over to your house or something, watch TV or share a drink or two with you? No, of course not. He's dead. Long dead. As far as I can tell you only have a relationship with a subroutine inside your own head.

Sorry, dude. You're in a religion. You're part of a denomination. You have dogma and you clearly look forward to the destruction of the human race with relish. I wonder about your sanity.

  • This may be an over-simplification, but I think there are two major kinds of atheists. Those who have truly thought about the subject rationally, skeptically, and have evaluated the evidence, and those who are what I call a-religious. They just were never brought up as religious, never examined the evidence, and if they convert to religion it's often as a result of an emotional event. I'm sure the first type convert too, but in my experience it's very rare.

  • As soon as I saw the title for this video, I knew there would be at least one person sharing his unfortunate story of having received an injury to their patella by a sharp metallic object.

  • The Holy Spirit is what guides you through all justice....... Even if an athesits reads the bible he/she is not being guided by the holy spirit; evident in their position from the start. Anyways..... The word of God and slavation is for those who want it.... Simple.

  • "There is no religion, um, all religion is....." - logical fail.

  • Really? Did this guy try the "have you ever seen a million dollars in cash" argument?

I don't think quoting "The Santa Clause" film is a good way to argue for the existence of god. Cosmic fail, dude.

  • sounds like darkmatter

  • i used to be an atheist like you ... then i took an arrow on the knee

  • @bhrmaximo Now I'm on guard duty. Instead of fighting idiotic ideologies.

  • @bhrmaximo DAMMIT! I came here just to say that

  • @bhrmaximo hahaha!

  • @shadywolf91 Inaccurate. Preconceived biases can have a huge impact on what you believe, and in sense, make it a choice in terms of being open-minded. To say that she "tried to believe" is ridiculous if her preconceived notions always had a more powerful sway on her.

To say that it's not a choice is an easy copout. The mind can come up with powerful arguments to sway itself in different directions, and they're often quite nuanced rather than clearcut and easily definable.

  • 5:31 LOL The girl goes "Oh yes yes I've tried!" but then goes on to say that there was always a little part of her that never believed. Ok, so you haven't tried then.

The guy on the phone didn't represent himself very well, but there are plenty of intelligent, outspoken atheists-turned-Christians out there that have much finer-tuned arguments than he does. Get used to it.

  • @Mulinaster That's misrepresenting what she said. What she said is that no matter how much she wanted to believe there was still a doubt which prevented her from believing. It's not a choice.

  • "that sounds like a movie plot" lol

  • Try to believe? Hey, I'm a Christian, and I can tell you, if you have to "try to believe," than it's not believable.

  • Lol @ 4:21! The Santa Clause Defense! Worst argument ever.

  • Thumbs up for the christian death cult!

  • Is Keryn still on from time to time or is she not on the Atheist Experience any more?

  • Anyone who claims they're not a Christian but points to the Bible is just a tool.

  • I think he is faking it.

I dont know he is faking it, but I think he is faking it. I dont think he ever was an atheist. I think he was following the flock right from the start. it end off with him talking about the "the government" and a bit of fear imagery. Now to make that jump from religion to government requires a deep seating in combining the 2 in my eyes. That is why i doubt he ever was an atheist.

Also that so many before him lied, fuels my preconceptions.

  • 6:57 "I popped out of her uterus."

    Um... popped?

  • He knows the truth!? Special pleading 8^P

His deconversion and reconversion apparently didn't involve critical thinking. Intuition and emotional appeal are not strong arguments for anything even atheism. Gospel according to JK Rowling(HP) is way more realistic Why didn't he convert to that?

  • All atheists do not have ciritical thinking skills (choosing not to believe out of rebellion, fear, trying to be nonconformist, never educated on religion), and all people who believe in some kind of deity are not devoid of critical thinking skills either. It's not as if God has been empirically disapproved just as He/She/It hasn't be empirically proven. Both choices are a 'belief', the best we can do in this instance.

  • Comment removed

  • The caller never defined his god and he thinks that truth is what you want it to be.

People's ability to plan for the future and having a survival instinct creates a

conflict known as fear of death. Pretending that consciousness continues when

our brain dies is not consistent with the fact that brains and minds coexist.

  • Oh man - he is stupid.

  • 6:30 "how do you think you got here". how did you think you got here when you were an Atheist?

  • "I used to be an atheist" Oh brother. I've heard that many times and it always goes the same way. Next time someone tries to pull that stunt(because that is what it is),stop them. Have them define what atheism is. Guaranteed it is some ridiculous caricature.Shut them down and refuse to discuss further unless they can pledge some integrity.

  • I feel really really sorry for these people on the show, and all of you on here who deny God. I can't even imagine how awful it must be.. But of course, people will probably tell me something to mock me, or defend themselves, but it's alright, because I know the truth :) And the truth has set me free :)

  • @Updownaroundtown

    Troll detected.

    Release anti-troll spray.

  • @PsychoticSnake Aw that's cute. haha

  • @Updownaroundtown Yeah, not sure why I said the second part.

  • @PsychoticSnake What is a troll anyways?

  • @Updownaroundtown We know the truth and it has set me free aswell :) Agnosticism set me free :)

  • @pepparmostheelder I doubt that..

  • @Updownaroundtown And now you know why I doubt you

  • @Updownaroundtown why would it be awful?

  • @doombow666 Because life is never complete without God.

  • @Updownaroundtown And you know this how? Personal experience? Doubtful. Your priest told you? How the hell does he know? The bible tells you so? Its just a book!

I have lived my entire life without god, i am not nor have i ever been depressed and i have never felt like my life is incomplete. So why dont you convince me how you can know for a fact that all atheists must be depressed?

  • @doombow666 Because I know what it's like to live life without God. Your life feels empty. You may have happiness for a little while with certain things, but that passes, and your left still feeling empty at the end of the day. And the bible is not just a book. It's the word of God. If it was just a book it would not be the worlds top seller for so long :)

  • @Updownaroundtown Owh so you were an atheist? for how long then? And just because your life sucked doesnt mean mine has to. Ans the way you talk about believing it sounds like i can just turn around and believe which is impossible, i could pretend but i still wouldnt believe. And just because a book sells well doesnt mean its suddenly anything more than just a book. thats like saying the religious must be right because there are alot of them.

  • @doombow666 I was never an atheist, I just always believed there was a God. But just because you believe there's a God, it doesn't mean you have him in your life. It's kind of a choice you make for yourself.. To live for God, or to live for youself and your sin. Life is not ours anyways, God gives us life. And the bible, it's NEVER been topped by another book. EVER. That's because the word of God is powerful.

  • @Updownaroundtown If you were never an atheist you cannot know how we feel, period. You are just guessing how we feel based on your own experience or someone alse has been lying to you. And about the bible, it topped the best seller list bacause ppl were forced for hundreds of years to believe it or die. And still, just because it sells well doesnt make it special. its just pieces of paper these days printed in mass quantities by machines.

  • @doombow666 Yeah, except it's pretty much almost the same thing.. I'm pretty sure. You wouldn't know, because not believing in God IS all you know. And no, the bible TOPS (not topped) the best seller list because it's constantly being bought, read, and studied. No one forces me to read the bible. I still do. Same goes for millions of other people around the world. You would not be saying that if it was something other than the bible.

  • @Updownaroundtown Its not the same, not even a little. Not believing in god is the opposit of believing in god. As you said '' I was never an atheist, I just always believed there was a God.'' And i never claimed to know how it is to be a christian, you were the one claiming to know what it is like to be an atheist. And yea the bible sells good, is at the top, is being read and ''studied'', that doesnt make it special.

  • @doombow666 It's very very special :) Try reading it with an open mind, and an open heart, and you'll see how very special it really is :) K, i'm done with this conversation, bye!

  • @Updownaroundtown i have read it and im willing to change my mind if evidence is offered but it has none. And just saying ''im done'' is just a cheap way of running from a conversation when you know you have nothing to bring to the table.

  • @doombow666 You will never find "evidence" that's going to satisfy you enough. Most people that don't believe in God are like that. I don't know about you, but i'm assuming. All you guys want is logic and reason, but logic and reason is going to do nothing for you in your life. I promise you. We all have brains, but we also have a soul. The soul is worth more than the brain is. Your brain will die eventually.. and i was not running away. lol

  • @Updownaroundtown i alrdy said, when evidence for god is given, i will believe. But you actually just say that logic and reason will do nothing in your life? Are you insane? You actually expect ppl to give up on logic? And we dont have a soul, thats just something someone ones made up to explain consciousness. We now know how it works. Something like a soul has never been proven either. Why dont you stop trying to throw things into the conversation that have never been proven or make no sense.

  • @doombow666 "I refuse to prove I exist says God for proof denies faith and without out faith I am nothing". "But", says man, "the Babel Fish is a dead give away isn't it? It proves you exist, therefore, by you own argument you don't QED". "Oh dear", says God, "I hadn't thought of that." and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.

Douglas Adams: witty, insightful, atheist. "Isn't it enough to see that the garden beautiful with having to believe there fairies at the bottom of it?"

  • @Updownaroundtown Maybe your soul is. Religion teaches you to not question. Science is based on a never ending need to question and research. The smartest people in the world are generally Scientists, people who improve knowledge around the world. While the slowest people tend to be preachers of religion, trying to catch other people who are incapable of thinking deeply or have been mentally scarred into believing.

  • @Updownaroundtown

I've never believed in a God, yet at no time has my life ever felt "empty." (I have trouble even imagining what would be like.) On the contrary, my life's often seemed too FULL.

If religion has provided you contentment, wonderful! Nothing satisfies like having peace of mind.

Just be careful not to project your own experiences onto others. Remember: When it comes to religion, "Results may vary." :)

  • This dipshit caller ought to keep reading the bible, it's what made most of us with a bit of common sense, a decency toward justice, a bit of logic, and a quest for reason, to become atheists. Keep reading your bible and hope you posses the above qualities.

  • It's perfectly possible for an Athiest to convert to a religion. Being narrow-minded works both ways, you know? Athiests also contribute to the multitude of double standards we see in society, it's not just religious nutcases.

  • @Portubella12458 Give one example to the contributions of atheists double standards!

  • if you don't Want to believe... you won't be brainwashed thouroughly so it may wear off as you are exposed to reason!! deny the facts and cling to your superstition!

  • Lmao, I love how the guy says that Christian's believe that they can do whatever they want so long as they lay in bed at night and ask Jesus for forgiveness.

    NOT TRUE.

You cannot commit a sit, knowing it's wrong, and knowing that you'll just ask for forgiveness and all will be okay. It doesn't work like that.

You have to be genuinely sorry to be truly forgiven for your sins. Some people commit the same sins over and over and feel bad for it and ask for forgiveness. THAT is different.

  • U all need to look into islam. That will give answer to your question. Islam has answer to your quesitons.

  • @knowjesus2011 Islam has answers to people with questions about committing hurt and pain.

Islam is the biggest JOKE religion. You people are so brainwashed it is truly sad. Allah is NOT the savior you think he is.

Please tell me any other religion that claims to be a "PEACEFUL" religion, that calls for all infidel's to be killed.

WAKE UP AND LOOK IN THE MIRROR... YOUR RELIGION IS STRAIGHT FROM SATAN.

  • @scott71785 .. please watch dr. zakir naik question and answer session here on youbute, you will find others asking the same question you have asked. It require long answer so, I will send u an email with the answers. Peace.

  • @scott71785 There is no Satan. Chillax.

  • I don't have to WANT to believe in anything. If something is tangible, if others can experience it with their senses and so can I, if it can be verified independently, then I can believe in it because it's real. I may not want to believe in it, but I have to, because it's real.

  • Wow, the very same thing happened to me. I used to be an atheist but at the age of fourty three I started believing in Santa.

His helpers do not abuse children and they even sit on their laps. Most children love Santa more than anything. Talk to one on Christmas eve. (my personal favorite holiday) There are lots of Santa Clause books. I'm not 100% sure yet but Tim Allen might be Santa. If you quit believing in Santa he still brings you presents, perhaps even coal.

  • I had to chuckle at the top rated comment....even though I agree I actually know two people who converted from atheists into theists.

My father converted into a theist after my parents divorce and one of my friends converted from an atheist into a theist after her dad was involved in an auto accident and he was gravely injured but survived. She interpreted his survival as god's will.

    It happens.....

  • Nothing intelligent has ever come out of a conversation starting with "I used to be an atheist."

  • If this guy would change his smoke detector battery. Having a chirping every 30 seconds would drive you insane. Obviously.

  • "I used to be an Atheist." That's like saying I used to be literate. What a delusional dullard.

The truth does not require ones approval. Either something is true or it is not. In the case for god the evidence is nil. No evidence, no truth, no god.

  • "I used to be an Atheist." That's like saying I used to be literate. What a delusional dullard.

  • Why does it matter if he was an athiest or religious before-hand? The important thing is that HE HAS SEEN THE LIGHT and that HIS SOUL IS NOW SAVED! Thank God.

  • @3kliksphilip

    Your a delusional dullard.

  • @scotttebben Being strict in one's beliefs can work both ways.

  • @3kliksphilip Wrong again. I don't have an imaginary friend. Reason and investigation is the death nail to superstition and ignorance. I suggest you give it a try.

  • @scotttebben Reason and investigation... two things you seem unwilling to try.

  • @3kliksphilip I am perplexed by your many droll comments, as they confirm my initial assertion. "Your a delusional dullard."

  • @scotttebben What purpose do your comments actually have? From what I see, you're simply trying to enforce your 'superiority' over religious people. You are not going to get anywhere with religious people with that sort of attitude, and if anything are simply reinforcing their beliefs. This makes me believe that you're the sort of argumentative atheist who only argues to try and inflate their own ego.

  • nayanmalig was 6 and now hes half a dozen

  • I am an atheist who turned agnostic.

  • The only reason it seems like Atheists attack Christians is because Christians have the biggest mouths when it comes to anybody or topic that doesn't agree with them.

  • He was never an atheist, he just said that because he thought it would make his story better. I hate the rationality that if you haven't found god then you have to try harder.

  • Clowns can use phones too.

  • No disrespect intended, but just a simple question; Do atheists HATE Christians?Sometimes it seems that way. But I guess the question could go both ways.

  • @puppylove226959 No. Sure some do, but in a general sense, all that can be said about atheists is that they lack belief in a god.

I don't "hate" anyone, but some Christians do make me kind of sick. Anyone who says another person DESERVES to "burn in hell", simply for not believing the same thing they do, make me sick. It's incredibly insulting.

If I had hate towards anything, it'd be towards organized religion and/or its teachings, not its followers.

  • @puppylove226959 no. most athiests dont hate christians they hate christianity. we dont hate the person we hate the ideas that person has. we hate it because it causes suffering for others e.g. homosexuals are always being told there sick or evil because it says so in the bible. people have a right to belive what they like but not use there belife to cause suffering.

  • Personally, I don't know how someone can wake up every morning beliving there is absolutely nothing to look forward to after they die....NOTHING. If I believed that, I literally would have probably commited suicide a long time ago, but my belief in God(as stupid as it may be)prevented that. Otherwise, I wouldn't care if I were atheist. Just my experience. Plus my mom told me an intersting story and I refuse to call her a liar.

  • @puppylove226959 What's so wrong with death being "the end"? Eternal life is not something anyone should want. Eternity has many terrible implications. Even in Heaven, an eternity would eventually make it no different from Hell. Infinite time implies that you will eventually repeat the same things a billion times over. And those billion times are nothing compared to what lies ahead. It's a drop in a bottomless bucket of time. 100,000,000,000,000 years in heaven might be nice. But eternity? No ty

  • @puppylove226959

"I don't know how someone can wake up every morning beliving there is absolutely nothing to look forward to after they die....NOTHING. If I believed that, I literally would have probably commited suicide a long time ago,"

So. When you go to an amusement park, knowing you have to leave at the end of the day, you just leave immediately w/o enjoying the rides? Same idea.

I believe death is "the end". So I'm going to try and enjoy every second while I'm still alive.

  • @puppylove226959 "probably commited suicide a long time ago". Perhaps focus on THIS life a bit more and enjoy it and you might not wish to throw it away.

Since this is the ONLY life we know 100% that does exist its not wrong to value it. Since no evidence has been provided for an afterlife its best not to bet on that.

As far as your Mom is concerned. She may not be a liar, just mistaken. People make mistakes all the time. Simply consider she may have told you what she 'thinks' happened.

  • We're all born atheist's then some of us get indoctrinated and brain washed.

  • The caller claims to know a god exists, but he can't come up with any evidence beyond his personal conviction. What a jerk.

  • I saw another youtube commenter say this once: "Saying you used to be an atheist is like saying you believe in Santa Claus again."

  • @IpponDropkick that is a really stupid comment. comparing our Maker to santa claus...a typical atheist thing to do. ha!

  • @83redrose83 How about you respond to my other post? That's the substantive one.

  • @IpponDropkick yeah, im sure...no thanx.

  • @83redrose83 Keep plugging your ears then. Move along.

  • atheists are so mean! that girl had such a chip on her shoulder and was not being respectful to the caller at all. and being an atheist IS the easy way to go. I used to be one and it was very easy. Do what u want when u want how u want to. No morals or values to follow except for your own. I thought I "liked" my life too, but I didn't. No one made me be a Christian, I did it all by my sweet little old self. And I must say I am very much happier w my life and the people around me. Faith Hope Love

  • @83redrose83 Wrong. I'm an atheist and I can't do whatever I want. I want to get some pepsi right now, but I'm not going to steal it because a) I know it's wrong and b) Society doesn't deal well with theft.

If you need a god to tell you to have morals, stay in church. It's safer that way for all of us. Me? I'm capable of being a moral person without religion and so I avoid it.

  • @IpponDropkick I'm not talking about stealing, but whatever. I do go to Church, thank u :)

  • @83redrose83 You're ignoring my central point so I'll make it again: I am perfectly capable of morality without church, your claim that it's required is wrong.

  • @IpponDropkick ummm, I never said that, but ok. I said it was good for me....

  • @83redrose83 Wrong! Quoted from YOU: "Do what u want when u want how u want to. No morals or values to follow except for your own" YOUR words and a very monsterous assertion.

  • @IpponDropkick yep, and i meant evrey word. i'm a monster? ooookkkkk haha!

  • If you were a theist and you became an atheist, then you are now smarter for it.

If you were an atheist and you became a theist, then you never had the intelligence to begin with.

  • The guy they're talking to is the epitome of idiocy. "Do you believe in a million dollars?" what a fucking douche. Lol

  • God bless all of you. May you find him. He is real.

  • @Huhbra100 No he's not.

  • This little boy is really DUMB!He should've called!

  • Is atheism a religion?

  • @lnfk

in the same way that NOT collecting stamps is a hobby.

  • @lnfk No.. It's a position. It's simply the rejection of the claim that there is a god or gods. Atheism doesn't actually make any claims, it simply rejects claims that lack evidence.

  • @DaFleegsta Thank you for answering that question without sarcasm :)

  • @lnfk No

  • Fake caller, its EXTREMELY rare for an atheist to turn religious.

If you are not caught young, you wont be converted.

I call BS on the caller. Religious all along.

  • @Sperminator10000 Although I'm inclined to agree with you, I don't think it's smart to believe that an atheist will NEVER convert. If the religious can become nonreligious, then the nonreligious can become religious.

  • @DantehMan Any logical atheist would never convert to a religion. If that ever happened the religion would have to no longer be a religion but rather a scientific theory.

  • @Sperminator10000 christains claiming "i used to be atheist for(# of years)" is a last ditch effort to try and make atheism look bad i guess. it falls in line with the pathetic argument "it takes just as much faith to believe in god as it does to not believe in god". i cant tell you how many times Christians i meet say this and when i go to their houses meet their parents(i am an awesome person) i see pics everywhere of them attending sunday school, not missing church a single sunday.

  • @Sperminator10000

no doubt, Christians try and pull this shit all the time.

"i'm an atheist so you will listen to me, listen as i slowly make religion look more credible until you buy into it, then i reveal i am really religious"

no sarcasm here, that happens to me ALL THE TIME!!!

  • @Mikeybetts Agreed!

  • @Sperminator10000

just curious but is there actual numbers for this or just personal experience / speculation?

  • @Sperminator10000 Actually that's not true. I know a couple life-long atheists that turned to Christianity after a near-death experience. This has happened to many people actually.

Sometimes... it takes something bad to happen, to get someone to wake up.

  • @scott71785 Fear is the mind killer. No decisions should be based on fear.

  • @meaninter03 Never said it was fear that woke them up. Something bad happened and they had a near-death experience where they experienced life after death momentarily. That is what turned them.

  • @scott71785 Yeah. That scared them. Surviving made them face their mortality, which is scary. And, don't worry, I drew the "fear" conclusion on my own. They were wrong to do so, tho'.

  • @Sperminator10000 I use to be an atheist and now I turned religous. Does that mean I was fake? I am spiritual.

  • @JuliusIsMe I think it's stupid to claim atheists don't become religious or to say he wasn't a "true" atheist. It's just as stupid as if it were the other way around. But he keeps saying "I was just like you" and then he demonstrates that he doesn't understand even some basic atheistic arguments or response to bad apologetics. I may become religious, but at least I would understand why those arguments didn't work. He seemed to be an atheist who didn't think the way I do is my point.

  • @Sperminator10000 hmm, I'm not sure, some people would count as atheist when growing up because they just don't bother with this stuff. Then they "learn" the stuff and fall for it because they didn't have the right critical thinking skills. This guy sounds almost like that just with some arrogant "I know" stuff thrown on top of the credulity.

  • @TheFoliageCradle Sure they can. I'm just tired of hearing the comment from believers: "but they weren't a real Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jew" take your pick. Whenever someone does something that they don't like or consider a sin, deconvert.

What is good for the Goose is good for the Gander. In the same figurative terms.

  • Caller was never a "Real" Atheist.

  • @pumpstations Obviously the guy was atheist for some very bad reasons. If those weak arguments are what convinced him, I'd just as soon he go one over to the dark side anyway. I wouldn't want him representing atheism. Obviously this is somewhat tongue in cheek and we don't need to against each other in all respects. But when he says "I was just like you", he next makes it very apparent he was not at all like them or else bad arguments would not have swayed him.

  • @rrpostalagain comment appreciated ( and I like your avatar too) Please understand, This was written as comedic, sarcastic, double entendre. I hear so much: "he/she was never a true christian". It seemed appropriate and funny. 12 others thought so. God bless you. . . Doh < in Homer Simpson voice. ☮

  • Wow, too bad this guy got DUMBER.

  • How do you know a million dollars exist? There may be only a thousand dollars.

  • Damn him! He cut her off when she said "... you get up on a bed...". I really wanted to hear where Keryn was going with that : )

  • O_O his crazy

  • I would like to pop in her uterus.

  • This guy will never get it.

  • The car theft analogy is terrible.

  • Everyone is born Atheist, EVERYONE!

  • @HolyCity2012 Not really an especially good point. Babies don't have any knowledge when they're born. Atheists like the hosts of this show or other prominent atheists like Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, or PZ Myers aren't that way because they've never heard of religion, but because they've investigated religious claims and found them to be across the board completely unconvincing because the claims can't be tested or have been shown to contradict all known evidence.
