I was watching this thinking why don't you just put the no1 friend in near the heel hook first,it saves having to take the fall. I did this route when i was 18 and found it relatively easy then went back to do it with my 16 year old daughter over 25 years later, i managed to pull over the lip ok but then had to rest in the break above for ages to recover from the exertion, its crap getting older. :(

That climb is scary shit, next time get the number two cam in where you had your hands and you can just have the confidence to go for the next moves. It's good to have a visual of what a fall on the slab actually looks like, I just wouldn't want to pop out when you have the heel hook.

Good effort. I fell on first attempt at Flying Buttress Direct too many many years ago. Managed to get tangled in the rope on the way down too. Still have the scars to show it. Came back a few years later and waltzed up it. Definitely a good route to have a crack at when it's at the limit of your grade.

Its at Stanage Edge in the Peak District (UK). Despite appearances, its towards the easier end of the climbing scale (HVS / E1). If you've done it once, its straightforward, but its bloody hard to get right first go :(
