  • i made a(somewhat sloppy)map of my settings known world there are 3 kingdoms and the rest is wilderness:the united races (based off the holy roman empire inhabited by:elves humans eladrin half elves and gnomes) dracolia (based off celtic, viking, spartan, anglo saxon pick any it applies inhabited by: dwarves, dragonborn, golioths , and minotaurs)

and orcish tribes(Israel like culture but barbaric still very religious its occupants are obvious )

thanks for the tips see ya

  • Wow you inspire me to keep doing my maps for my Fantasy world. Your techniques are very helpful for me as well. I always enjoy seeing fellow fantasy Artists doing what we do best. It's a lot of work to making a world like this but I got to say it sure is fun. Anyway keeping drawing you inspire me to keep making mine =D

  • wait does repsesper have a story to go along with his maps because if so i would like to read or hear it.

  • Im so pissed because my friends just told me the dont want to play D&D anymore...I'm craving here!

  • Very interesting and the detail in your maps are amazing.

  • yeah Scornhull is my fav

  • love these maps. was thinking of making one for my kingdom ot Aztiran. The entire western coast is covered in ash and soot. It has been like that for more than 3 years and since then, not a sprig of grass nor a sapling of any tree has grown and no one has dare set foot there. The bodies and the stench is enough to keep anyone away, but it is said to be cursed by the unforgiving souls of those killed in the pyres. It is known as the PheonixScar. But, nothing rises from its ashes.

  • awesome! 4 out of 5! Originality I'd give 4 out of 5 because some it was a bit cliche'd, but otherwise the map is great besides the fact it isn't my style.

  • Wait... so what computer program did you use, Paint? Photoshop?

  • Hey, in paint, how do you create the water background at 6:41 to look the way it is? Please respond.

  • @BaldursGate2Jonaleth I fill in a blue color, then use a paint-style filter on it.

  • This is great, it inspires me to start making maps again!

  • Great video! I've always loved maps and they've been one of the things that has drawn me to fantasy. I've drawn some of my own maps for my own worlds and its great to see someone else doing the same thing. I've never tried using computers for drawing them though, I shall have to give it a go.

  • Hey, Awesome video ^_^! I'm really crappy at maps and trying to get the hang on world making mostly for future reference. What are your opinions on programs like Campaign Cartographer and the like when it comes to map making?

  • @narutofanfic I have never used any such programs, so I can't say. Being an artist, I generally prefer to create things from scratch or my own resources whenever I can.

  • Dude, your the man!!! Good job!!! I Would love to sit in on session of yours one day; you ever think about running a game online? Or broadcast a game over ustream? Great work!

  • @steamin661 I'm going to run a game online someday. Nothing scheduled at the moment, but eventually.

  • 10/10

  • Your work is fantastic and inspiring.

  • Awesome! Another Chris Perkins follower! :D

I swear he is the moses of DMing. Everyone, watch his robot chicken session. DMing at it's best.

You've inspired me to make a map of my own. And my gamers love it! Thanks so much

  • Nice maps, and I liked how different real world areas and cultures are incorporated into the setting. It looks like ships and ship travel would be important in the setting with all of the islands. Making maps for each area with different styles and fabrics (paper, leather, etc.) is a neat idea, with some cultural styles of map making influencing the way you do them. :) Adding in the textures and filters does add a nice touch to the maps. I try to use dead languages to name things these days

  • @Samwise7RPG Thank you. Dead languages? That is a really interesting idea. Any that you can cite, for example?

  • @repsesper Sumerian is a language I've used several times. It's what I've used in the Burning Heaven setting of mine. What you need is a language with lots of words. You can do searches for Dead Languages, and Extinct Languages and find some (but you might have to dig around a little). I think Coptic counts, but I don't know much about it. Old English, Avestan, and Sanskrit are a few others I'm loosely aware of. Constructed languages (like Elvish) are also out there.

  • @Samwise7RPG Right on, I guess I actually used some before: I used a couple old English words on the first part of Eldritch Castle.

  • Thanks for sharing your process! Great insight. Which program are you using to do all the drawing, coloring, and icon creating?

  • @jimeronimo Photoshop, but I'm sure you could do the same with other digital tools.

  • Cool!

  • <3 Esperia :D

  • Would you consider uploading them so that people can steal the settings?

  • hmmm... maybe I should grab my first and only map and try drawing it again...

  • Whoa. These are absolutely brilliant :D

    +1

  • hi esper nice to see how you lay the ground work for your campaigns. this is what I like to use and might help with your initial creative process

donjon DOT bin DOT sh SLASH world

you can easily create worlds and continents larger than you'll ever need in a matter of moments. they have a world generator and a dungeon generator which is fairly decent. worth poking around as it can save alot of setup time with new worlds.

  • @LordJosephDeBurg Yah, I mess around with the donjon dungeon generator sometimes. It's pretty interesting, and I could see someone taking the idea further to make something really worthwhile and applicable.

  • hey esper mind if i originate my D&D character from there Esperia i mean

  • @ozzyosbournefan08 The gateway is open...

  • @repsesper whats Esperia like tho is it a good peaceful place other than Greyhawk

  • Very nice ever think of publishing the game world of yours

  • @tarboy69 More than you know.

  • How do drow create their cities they are constantly stabbing each other in the back just something I was wondering.

  • @lockman776 In my world, they have a male laborer class, along with slaves, work buildings out of the natural stone formations in strategic areas of the underdark. Once the great houses get set up properly, then the backstabbing commences.

  • That was nice to see. As I just started delving into imovie's capabilities in order to use on youtube more effectively, I'm glad you mentioned that. As my conversation with Samwise7RPG was about visualization in gaming, I find my technical ability on the digital side to be sorely lacking. That's something I'm in need of improving.

I always enjoy seeing others' maps and descriptions of the settings as with books I tend to spend the time referencing locations.

    Nice one. Thank you

  • Very Nice, I am highly influenced to work on some maps tonight. =]

  • @MetaRockwell Hey, alright man, that's what it's all about. For the two new ones, I got some inspiration from you, Chris Perkins, the old Paizo Dungeon magazines, and other sources, then just let it flow.
