  • I first heard this song on internet radio and jammed along with my then new Nyberg cittern. The story is very similar to the real life story of someone who is very important to me and the music fitted perfectly. A little investigation lead me to Blackmore's Night which is how I found out about them for the first time.

  • This is a beautiful song.

  • está música é a melhor do BMN, é linda demais

  • Маэстро Blackmore нашел то душевное состояние к которому в течение многих лет подсознательно стремился и на мой взгляд его творчество последних лет на много более естественно чем последние опусы "Тёмно Фиолетовых".

  • Too brilliant those new strings of the guitar.

  • hÏhi_Î_féÊl_so_lÔñèlÿ_tÔDãy

  • Wonderful song. Music and lyrics are so beutiful. I’m 11 years old and did some blackmore’s night guitar covers. If you wanna check ‘em out…. Cheers from France.

  • Wonderful! Relax n harmony..PEACE.

  • Bit predictable chord progression.... Freebird.... Baby I Love Your Way. Still, at least he moved away from boring himself which he obviously was doing with the Purple/Rainbow stuff. But then again this set-up seems a bit on the slick side ...glossy presentation ... and it's a shame people need artists like Blackmore and Sting to get them to listen to early music (e.g. Nigel North does Dowland far better than the latter). Blackmore still plays beautifully though, as much as he always has.

  • judging the success of an artist by how many records they sell or how many asses are in the seats at their shows is what pop music is for......

  • Blackmore's my favorite guitarist (well, tied for him and Randy Rhoads). I'm very happy for him that he's finally in love and doing what he wants to do.

  • great

  • 1997? mmmm....

  • what beautiful music. god brought this couple together to bring us heavenly music on earth. amen

  • Wonderful !!

  • thought alot and listened to alot of blackmore's night on here and have to say i really wasn't sure about it,especially after being a fan of deep purple and rainbow..but hey!..aslong as he is happy thats all that matters!..the more i listen to there stuff the more i like it :o)

  • Congrats to Sir Ritchie and Lady Candice on having a little girl. If she plays like Ritchie and sings like Candice she'll be an amazing talent.

  • @purpledude603 hi purpledude:)

  • @purpledude603 They had a baby?? Yay!!!

  • Beautiful video...CC

  • Very nice!

  • very special music i bought my niece 2 of their cd she loves them she is 13 she also digs purple and rainbow and agrees that kids her age are listening to really bad music when compared to blackmores night collection and ritchies purple and rainbow tunes.

  • @dadblair congratulations on having a girl with awesome taste :)

  • His love for music is strong. Thats what makes him a true musicians in my eyes.

  • It would have been good if Ritche continiued with Purple and releasing this{Very Good}music as solo work, and do mini tours. But its his choise anyone who blames him is an asshole!!!!!!!!

  • I dont like this ex blackmore/purple groupie from LI.Yeah,i knw the history.she got him by the balls and changed his style. Now after 20 yrs,he finally marries her???UGH!

  • ::() I need a tissue...

  • najbolji je na svijetu

  • DIVINE!!! Along with "Shadow Of The Moon", "The Clock Ticks On", "Ocean Gypsy", and "Wish You Were Here", this song sounds quite therapeutic on the beach!!! I know Ritchie Balckmore's been HUGE in Japan for decades; I envy them for having the honor of this intimate performance!!!

  • e muito boa nao tem igual

  • Beautiful music! Very nice song.

  • OMG please kill me..

  • where is this band from? boring as hell

  • es verdad q richi se come a la rusia esa???? muy bueno, blackmore night lo maximo

  • Brilliant voice, brilliant guitar playing!

    Le beannachdan (With blessings),

    Ruiseart (Gaelic Druid Order, Scotland).

  • Beautiful music! <3

  • Eu pagaria qualquer coisa p/ ve um show deles *----*

  • Why are people being so negative about Richie and Candice? Their music is beautiful and Candice's singing is soothing and magical,

Furthermore, they've recieved as much (if not more) praise and admiration from the crowd than any other singer out there

  • @sadlobster1

In fact, Ritchie brings the subtleties of lute playing to a wider audience indeed. He deserves all of our respect and acknowledgement for his virtuouso guitar work..

I always thought he enjoys Early Music artists such as Dowland, Kapsberger, Piccinini, Molinaro, Da Milano, Monteverdi, etc... ( alongside with Bach, of course, which inspires him forever ).

Ordinary guys must listen to Early Music before saying anything about Blackmore's music.

    That's all.

  • @docetrago i do agree with you. for the guys kept bashing them, at least they know what is music not like other new artists.

  • @politixus For sure, man. I like a lot of Early Music and since the first time I listened to Anthem, from Deep Purple's The Book Of Talyesin album I've been really convinced that Ritchie has a great interest in Lute, Archlute and Theorbo music as well.

That being said, I advice everyone interested in Ritchie's music to enjoy Early Music artists too. They're the source of almost all inspiration for our eternal 70's Guitar Hero !

  • @docetrago haha. i love your opinion. i'm 18teen, n i do adore their songs n music. kinda hard to find a great voice like candice night :)

  • @politixus Right on ! I say : to understand Blackmore's music, just listen to Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque music... there are the structure, the form and the body of knowledge to dive deep into this wonderful sea of musicianship. You can, for example, listen to the really enjoyable Sting's album Songs From The Labyrinth. He sings a wonderful set of John Dowland songs together with the superb lute player Mr. Edin Karamazov. Enjoy it !

  • To think two years earlier he was playing "BLACK MASQUERADE"!

  • yeah it was a big change, but this is a kickass song, its great

  • Esse é o Ritchie Blackmore.

Um violão Taylor, a Candice ao lado... quer mais ?

    Só falta virem ao Brasil.

    Por favor, me avisem !

  • NICE HAIR RICH HARE CLUB FOR MEN?

  • Nice syrup!

  • I can't get over how much Candace looks and sounds so much like Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac. They could amost be twin sisters.

  • Blackmore me gusta, CASI SIEMPRE. Long live!!

  • Wow,I was wonderin what happened to ritchie!just splendid.a fine wine he is!nice soundin wife too!we older guys no how to pull 'em in,those really good lookin young ones,OH YEAH,YEAH<YEAH<HELL YEAH.Ritchie always was bad-ass!

  • Dành cho Én Nhỏ...

  • godlike

  • Love from Ukraine! Ritchie and Candice forever!

  • This is the song of my soul... :))) They are music from Heaven! :)))

  • Mr SimonMiramfan,..Well, I can give you some books on logics to improve your argumentation, because we do not use personal offences on that. This is the way really idiot people talk to say 'idiot' instead of answering criticism. If you go to personal attack that's because you are not intelligent enough to argue. This is the way retards talk like in religion or soccer. I don't know if you are this kind of people. I am not affirming, cause I do not know you as you do not know me.

  • your mom

  • "sprit of the sea"? :D (at the beginning^^)

  • This type of music is Celtic music.....EXCELENT!!!

  • @portoivone

Admit it, your just hot for Candace!!!!! (psst... I'm secretly too ;p)

  • Who isnt!!!

  • Magnifica!

  • I think between Deep Purple and Rainbow, Mr. Blackmore has pretty much cemented his place in rock history. Let the man do what he wants and enjoy himself.

  • you cant say it better. Ritchie has been making rock until 96, at that time he was 51and had around 30 years of a rock career. A musician have to do what they enjoy and dont do what just make money thats why he left deep purple and why he is doing this kind of music. Hes happy and making a diferent music that doesnt mean that is not beautiful. =)

Anyway, I read that maybe he will do rock again. I would love to see him doing rock with Ronnie Dio again

  • @lucifer73 ----AGREE : ]

  • haha, hey the music is not just rock

  • No.... but it`s kinda WIERD that one of the greatest guitarists in the world starting to play sleep-music!

So if Metallica starts to play polka, then it`s OK too?

  • >So if Metallica starts to play polka, then it`s OK too?

It would certainly be an improvement on what they've been doing.

  • Why would it not be OK? They have no obligation to play this or that. Everyone plays what they feel like. No?

  • Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

    It actualy wouldn`t!

  • LOL! agree...

  • @EILIVdrummer Its not like Metallica starts to play polka, is like Kirk play what he wants in another band without interfer in Metallica songs.

I don't remember of hear of Deep Purple playing renaissance music when Ritchie was in there.

  • @Siriusblck3

Listen to the 3rd album and stormbringer!

  • @jonnyrainbow1 Yeah, in the song Ayna he do a acoustic guitar intro, one of the best DP songs for me

but he never make Deep Purple a renaissance band, the close they get is Soldier Of Fortune.

  • @Siriusblck3 Yeah, I remember Deep Purple playing renaissance music. Just listen to Anthem and you'll see. It's crystal clear the influences from baroque and renaissance. Another example is The Temple Of The King. If you listen to Kapsberger, Dowland, Da Milano - just to quote a few ones - you'll just gotta feel that influence. I'm almost sure Ritchie plays the lute for fun. There is a golden treasure in Early Music which Ritchie certainly has taken as a source of inspiration.

  • You are right. People can not listen to some criticism. In a technical sense:this singer has no range in voice, lack of vibratto, a very common timbre, no power in accentuation. These guitar arrangements are very poor too. It's only an opinion, mine. That of a humble long date musician and scientist.

  • I know : (

  • yeah, but blackmores night has a huge catalogue of songs, cant judge by something done years ago. listen to more and then judge the arrangements...

  • What a complete fucking idiot. Are you deaf?? Musician & scientist. - God help us.

  • Are you able to talk in a technical sense? Are you able to respect other opinions? See the words you use 'deaf', 'idiot'. These words do not belong to a vocabulary of an intelligent guy. I really do not discuss this way.We can go through studios and measure and prove what I said, but 'deaf', 'idiot' these are not the terms I use. I really do not like to fight as you do. I do not see music as religion as you do. If it hurts to listen to criticism to your idols, sorry, but that's what I mean.

  • @kdinhoguitarra No, yours is the opinion of the usual lover of very complex jazz, you don't understand other values of this music and stick to others which are not relevant, such lack of originality, lack of vibrato, poor arrangements... but you know nothing on how difficult is to play perfectly and well a folk song, albeit they are simple.

  • @kdinhoguitarra Music its not just about technique and speed guitar solos and arrangements Chords with 11th and 13th with a Jazz progression of 16/13, 9/8 beats.

Its about play what you are feeling, tell a history, enjoy and other human things.

  • and so it began, the retirement chapter! No more jumping on stage, lighting up amps, smashing guitars, turning up the volume. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

  • Yeah no more 'Man On The Silver Mountain' or 'Smoke On The Water'

  • yes, if you want the rock versions you will have to settle for DP, Dio, Over the Rainbow, White Noise to name a few.

  • ritchie blackmore nunca deja de sorprendernos, eso es talento!

  • The best guitarr ever

  • Comment removed

  • muy buena canción, señores... Que gran talento... larga vida al inventor del metal neoclásico... Ritchie Blackmore...

  • I listen to this stuff all the time, great CD ,

  • great song !!!!

  • i love her voice *¬* (L)

  • His audience isn't becoming smaller, they're just becoming more selective.!!

  • exactly quality beats quantity anytime

  • @purpledude603 Well said. There is nothing more to add!!!

  • why blame BN for losing populairity, its not their fault.

  • This was the best era for Blackmore's Night in my opinion, the "Shadows of the Moon" cd just can't be beat.

  • Under A Violet Moon beats it imho :) of course each has his/her own opinions

  • A lot of DP fans and rock fans in general just cant stand the idea of Blackmore playing these kind of stuff now and I used to be one of those people but you have to move on.. the guy doent play Rock anymore.. end of store.. I wish he does but thats how it is.

  • yeahh in my opinion its over with the rainbow days its too late for a reunion with dio or whoever.and specially i dont think that blackmore would contact dio anymore.this relationship is over for 3 decades and is music history.both are to big egos to work again maybe in a band.very very sad.surely i hope they would do it but dreams dont come true anytime.catch the rainbow my friend

  • :-)

Personnaly, I wouldn't think about "the time of bent out of shape" as THE great one in his career ! ...

From (very)far, I prefer the 3 firt Rainbow's LPs with Ronnie ... And others fans would maybe not want to hear anything of him after 1975 :-)

Anyway, this is his "trip" now, let's respect it :-)

    amicalement

    Laurent (fr)

  • I dont know what the fuck you're talkin about pal ?.. but this guy can wipe the floor with any guitar player's ass..

Go learn a few things before you open your mouth..

  • hey man...my only god is richard hugh blackmore.he was born in weston super mare,England, before you birth, blackmore it was one of best guitar ever seen for me,and the best making songs.i hope next time you understand,mt ironics words...long live rock´nroll, and don´t be cruelin yours answers please...

  • Oh my apologies... I thought you were serious. You have to execuse me, I'm just one of those Purple/Blackmore fanatics.

  • what a combination. this song is so great!

  • The perfect pair. He's the greatest guitarist, she's beautiful, talented and funny. They're fantastic live, if they ever come your way dont miss them!

  • many thanks for sharing , just what i need after a hard days work

  • perfectttttt *---------*~

  • Candice guitar and perfect harmony thanks

  • Awesome stuff. I like it.

  • I think Ritchie has wanted to play this kind of music since the peak of Rainbow and before Candice was born so she can't be blamed. Just how long can you expect him to churn out 'All Night Long' style cliched rockers for?

  • I agree whole heartedly I would like to hear sing Temple of the King, and make it very acoustical like this song.

  • Idiot!!!

  • Who?

  • I love this song. And it is soo much fun to play on guitar... the intro is a little like Beyond the Sunset.

Well, I will need to practice a bit and then i will continue learning 16th century greensleeves and perhaps Ariel :D wish me luck

I love Candice's voice and Richie.. you can't say he hasn't got guts, from Deep Purple to this :D

  • listen to Blackmore play on Blackmore's Night live version of Ariel. He DOES still rock.

  • *___________* i love them

  • he is alive!

  • uh...when did he die???? last i heard, he was still alive and kicking.

  • dude thats not funny

  • Is it me or they're playing it a step lower

than the original version and stuff :O

  • The most calm song. I love it! ♥

  • cazzo blackmore e un figo per diooo auhauh

  • Great music...I love this kind of old renaissence or medieval music...far better than all the technical crap these days. Thanks Ritchie for making music great twice in your lifetime.

  • Candace is Hot, and Ritchie is still a awsome guitar player!!!

  • The best!!!! I love this song!

  • You tell them!!! I agree Blackmore is a guitar god! to me page and blackmore are the best but thats my opinion!

  • this is what perfection sounds like.

  • well said man,

i totally agree with every word.

  • Ritchie is the real Guitar Hero :)

    lol, i like their music

  • you have nothing to do here.. go listen to "your" music and don't bother Blackmore's Night's fans..

  • ♥ So beautiful! The song.

  • i've got three leters fore you WOW!

  • Blackmore is the best, Deep Purple, Rainbow - it doesn´t matter!

  • Hell yeah and also Rainbow, someday we gonna wake up in the morning and ritchie will have his electric guitar rocking as the best!!! until that day we should respect the man that gave us too much rock and roll....long live to Ritchie Blackmore

  • Blackmore is GOD!!!!!

  • (L)

  • ritchie blackmore, was not a rocker,he always was what is he now...a musician.

  • Blackmore's Night is awesome!

I like also he's job in Purple and Rainbow but if he wishes to do this we all should accept this and not whine about it.

  • Blackmore's Night goes to prove his multi talents in the music world and how far he can go! Now he has Candice at his side and I bet he is the most happiest man in the musical world!

  • Great song, And Im happy that Ritchie made it *

  • One, he still rocks. Two, he started Blackmore's Night because this is the type of music he always wanted to play.

  • Richie woke up...cant you see?

He was an alquimist ages ago and this music brings him to his real concience of himself,he avoids to talk about his bound with this kind of music because people woudn´t understand he´s with this sound since so many lives thougrht the centuries

  • I uploaded this Blackmore's Night video and the Rainbow video the same day and this one has over 173,000 views and the Rainbow video 63,000. I think the two songs are exceptional in both their genre's but in terms of popularity one is the clear winner.

  • Yeah, it's perfect as always!

Candice is so lovely! Such a beautiful voice!

  • some of it i like, love his rockin solos, which he still does, but would of course like to hear more, she is beautiful, man im tellin you, about 24 or thereabout when this was done, just a baby, lovely woman.great sense of humor, just what ritchie needed too.

  • super geniale band ich liebe sie

  • wonderful! Great band.

  • Awsome

  • ritchie,ritchie! it's time for rainbow!
