you want to talk about audi. lets talk Audi used the led lights yes first yes. that shit box dodge is an Audi transmission and diferentials. they state the have the most advanced all wheel drive in the world. that would be AUDI who has ran and developed Quattro All Wheel Drive for over 30 years Audi is not copying chrysler its the other way around. why you say because simply put Audi are BETTER CARS. driven both so i know who wins this argument
I agree that AUDI used Eminem's music performed by a different artist. So what? both commercials have the same length because they bid same air time....120 sec. Generally TV commercials don't come in 47sec or 138sec, they are either 15, 30, 60, 90 or so....
...but seriously, it should be ok, because if you have a look at the chrysler's lights, you see its copied from the audi a3... just like every car company copies audi's LED lights
@VoltageLimited The only reason Em let Chrysler use it is because Detroits his hometown, and hes proud of it. Audi ripping it off is bound to piss him off somehow. Either way, Im sure its his label, not HIM who is filing the lawsuit..
@CMLiedtke Lol, the only reason why he let them use it. Dude, wake up and realise reality. He didn't let them use it because he's proud and he's a nice guy. They paid him a ton of cash to be in their commercial, so people will be like, "ohh cool Eminem is in it and hey that's where he was born! Ultra cool!!!".
@CMLiedtke Omg are you serious? You're exactly one the fools I'm talking about. In the music business athat level, nobody gives out their track for free to be nice or because it's where he grew up. He's not an angel rising from hell like you might think he is. Stop chasing fake hopes.
@dunti21 nice job exxagerating what I think about the guy... I applaud you for putting words in my mouth to prove your point, moving on with my own life now...
@VoltageLimited Actually you got it backwards Audi stared LED lights in '06 Chrysler had a prototype for them 2 years before Audi, if you dont believe me search the ME4-12. Chrysler's always been 2 steps ahead.
The only real differences are 2 notes in the piano intro are swapped (not even changed, just swapped), the accents for the guitar riff are shifted a bit, and 2 notes in the guitar riff are changed. Pretty much everything else is the same (muted guitar riff, drum beat and tone, piano and strings intro, etc)
Clearly a violation of copyright. It doesn't matter if you change a couple notes, it's still stealing someone else's work and illegal.
Eminem has the copyrights of his song, not Chrysler. So it's on HIM to determine whether Audi is allowed to use his song for their commercial. I don't know what problem you have.
BTW these commercials are not really similar. You can possibly even say that Chrysler copied the design from european manufacturers, especially the LED lights (from Audi ..).
@Woifeei I never said that Chrysler owns Lose Yourself... The writers and Eight Mile Style do, which is why they are suing for copyright infringement. I used to work for them and I guarantee that song can't be used without a hefty payment made to the copyright owners.
@Woifeei Did Audi pay the money and have the proper permissions to license a "Lose Yourself-alike?" I hadn't heard that. But I guess not or they wouldn't be taking legal action.
It seems like they paid someone to do a knockoff though.
@Woifeei If you know someone over at Eight Mile, shoot them this link. It seems to demonstrate their case to the average consumer eyes and ears. Peace. ~Mike
Ass holes they ripped off one of Americas greatest artist to sell a fucking car I hope eminem wins his court case cause these assholes deserve whats coming to them
@Nerysgarcia22 Chrysler ad was showed on Superbowl back in Febuary! Audi's ad came out I think a month ago. Not sure. Chrysler's did come first though.
@Anoush13 Well, since it came on in February, it was probably filmed in October or November. But the song "Lose Yourself" came out in 2002 and won a Grammy in 2004.
@Riles07 Yes, I quickly switched the audio tracks. So the Chrysler video has the Audi audio and the Audi video has the Chrysler Audio. And I used both audio and video tracks nearly unaltered. I just adjusted an audio fadeout to fit for precise length. They were similar in length to begin with.
I think your questions reflects the point this is trying to make. Thanks.
That is a genuine rip off. They changed the tone of the song just enough to where people could say it's different if anyone questioned but not enough to completely distort the song. But then again, Audi hasn't exactly been a benchmark company for new or innovative cars/ideas so who would be surprised the most creative they could be is to steal someone elses idea?
I doubt copyright infringement could be proven; the music is probably different enough. The only argument that could be made would be to prove that the average listener would think that the Audi music was actually Eminem. But the ad biz shows once again that original ideas are few and far between.
The Audi ad (and it is an ad) is a clear rip-off of eminem's commercial and more importantly music. I'm not an eminem fan, but neither am I a fan of some fruity euro skidding around an abandoned warehouse listening to music copied from an American musician while driving a boring euro station wagon.
@lucasboyd1 Thanks for stopping by. I have a blog post out tomorrow at 7:15 a.m. E.S.T. If you want to check it out,it lays out the whole story. Google Mike LaMonica's blog. It'll be there.
"caught in a trap" someboby would call this. What are we all doing right here in that moment? We all jump on a bandwagon of the industrie , that´s rolling but needs us to keep it going on and on. First, who called the AUDI clip a commercial or an ad? Some moderators of webpages and some press people. This is the first trap, because it is´nt a commercial and it´s no ad. But by taking it to the internet WE ARE MAKING AN AD OUT OF THIS. Find out what the clip was made for and you will understand...
@you7jupp I never called the Audi footage a commercial. Maybe someone else did, but not me. Honestly I don't care what the Audi clip was intended for. I chose my words carefully. This is a clear violation of the intellectual and artistic property of Eminem and the Chrysler corporation. It's so similar, some people I have showed it to don't even know the tracks were switched. Thanks for stopping by. ~Mike

Also if you listen to the original "Lose Yourself" there is a flanger effect used.
