One of my favs all time... Arthur Baker produced this in the 80's and this track was produced for the movie Beat Street... but the great thing of this track were all the artists that Baker produced in this period... Taped cut track... awesome! even in 2012!!!
I was in Brighton / England in the cinema as the movie starts. A few weeks later I was in Germany watching the movie. At the same place they are saying:
"Iss Dein Brot oder ich schlag Dich tot !" which means:
" Eat yout bread or imake U dead (or I kill U)" !!!
WOW...walking around the house making forts for my Return of the Jedi figures in my pops basement in a wind-breaker for no reason, while my brothers older friends practiced windmills on a piece of cardboard, and this soundtrack was on...
this tune is the legacy of hip hop, totally dope... get it on electro 5 on the street sounds label, dont bother with the cd version, digitally re shitted......
great timeless track. You should check out some of the other stuff Arthur Baker has produced. Orginaly Boston guy to I may be a little parial to his work but planet rock and play at your own risk (12" versions of course) are pretty cool
now if i can just remember the moves i think i can squeeze into the kappa gear and i think theres some old lino in the garage! anybody got some pledge?
very well put. it is just an amazing track and still gives me a top buzz almost 30 years on. is a timeless classic and i would say probably the best produced and engineered track ever with its various complexities. it is also in my opinion one of if not the best record ever made....
this track is probably the best ever in terms of production and one of my all time favourites. it has the cleanest, freshest synth ever!. still sounds so fresh after almost 30 years!. legendary track!.
Totally Agree. This track is still crazy all these years on! The fact that Arthur Baker had the audacity to throw all the elements of his early electro productions, add vocal samples from 'confusion' 'looking for the perfect beat' to name but a few, blend them with a heavily programmed DMX drum machine and season it all with a Bass Guitar. and synths. This track was,and is production genius!!
Wow" i cant imagine my life" my source of everything based to musical sound... where would it be' without this.Amazing and life starting in so many ways.. Thank U

Is there any live performance of this? I'd love to see Arthur Baker in action rock this while a group of breakers dance to it.
