its highly rare hyenas tend to avoid male lions id rather loose my lunch than my life but make no mistake hyenas have been documented in killing males that wander from the pride alone in one case a hyena clan launched an all out attack and killed 9 lions out of a huge pride the 3 males included 6 hyenas died because of the males but the sheer # proved to be to much and confused the pride But what do the hyenas get out of fighting males? nothin much broken back maybe i like my spine

@TiggerMusica I think that you are either a victime of that HOAX on internet about a clan of 45-50 hyenas killing 9 lions including the 2 pride males, whilst supposedly only 6 hyenas died..

Right I have checked the entire internet by now and it seems there is no evidence of this except that same video showing no dead lions at all.

If you have information that proves its not a hoax then please show me. For now I remain sceptic about that "event".

In fact this sick individual got the idea from a real account from 1999 where a hyena clan and a lion pride had a war and nearly half the clan got killed off while only a few lions died afterwards, most of them cubs and young females.

@Serekh84 Hyenas are my favourite animals and even I don't believe that they'd be able to accomplish this without more than 6 Hyenas dieing. And I don't really believe they'd kill the two males ( unless perhaps the males in charge of the pride were juveniles ). BUT Hyenas and Lions have gotten into wars many times where Hyenas have killed lots of Lions, but have always taken heavy losses on their end. But people need to stop underestimating the havoc that a large clan of Hyenas can cause.
