You can shoot starlings as long as you don't live in the city -- try that here, and it's a good way to find out what color the city jail's walls are painted. ;-)

I cant put feeders out where I live the gracles will clean it out in an hour. Cool though.

I have resorted to buying the kind of feeders with adjustable weight perches so I can keep those damn piggy squirrels from hogging all the seed.  It works well for starlings and grackles as well. Of course you can shoot starlings as they are not a native species.
