WTF is up with the down votes?? I agree, if JOYDIVIDED were anything like INTERPOL, I'd have a JOY album in my music collection...and i dont ....so sorry JOYDIVIDED fans, as much as youd like JOY to be an influence on INTERPOL>>>its just not true :)
Do you think someone who doesn't own a Joy Division record is in the best position to make that assessment? I think the influence is obvious and it's a good thing.

bulshit Interpol gets influence and style from joy division, they both good bands, but besides the singers voice similarity, theyre music isnt that much alike at all...otherwise id have joy division in my c.d collection :|
Only Carlos got his influence from Joy Division. The only reason why Paul sings like that is because Paul wasnt really a technically proficient vocalist during the band's earlier years.

It's a shame that all the kids only know the band for "Heinrich Maneuver". Easily one of the top hidden songs. One of the best 7-minute pieces I can think of. Glad to say I've seen them 3 times in Denver.
Their bassist and drummer are without a doubt the most talented in the band-the whole band is great but they really stand out. I wish the drummer did more cool fills like at 5:55-6:05, though.
This band is just so fuckin sic, i just never find myself ever getting bored with there brilliance, -untitled- personal fav, this is def top 5 though.
Great lyrics: You make me lose my buttons oh yeah you make me spit I dont like my clothes anymore Were spending time and money yeah youre colder than yourself Now were moving now were taking control You make me lose my buttons oh yeah you make me spit I dont like my clothes anymore You take me to New Orleans yeah you put me to the test I know what my heart is for You reach out for a blanket I say girl youve got something I love how you wear it
It's such an emotional song, I think it's alright if he doesn't sing clearly and properly all the time. Seeing the expression on his face makes up for some wrong notes.
It's just an impression most people get when they first hear/watch live versions of many bands. Interpol feels especially strange because their studio stuff have quite a few effects over Paul Banks's voice.
They're my third favorite band. And that's saying a lot because my first favorite band is Radiohead. Don't get me wrong. I know how good they are. He just doesn't seem all that consistent live. Like the Obstacle 1 performance on Jimmy Kimmel blew me away but a lot of other videos I've seen he seems shaky. It's not going to prevent me from seeing them when I get the chance. I think I may have let the backup vocals ruin it for me the first time. They're terrible. Whoever it is can't hold a note.
Yeah, I agree that his singing isn't very consistent in live performances—he actually sounds pretty bad on a few—, but I personally think he did a good job in this particular one. I think a lot of the impression his singing will cause depends more on the mixing (which was great on the Jimmy Kimmel show) than his actual performance. He sounds a lot better with some reverb on his microphone, I think.
this song is amazing i remember when i first heard it, it realliy chilled me out...but now when i listened to it closely i found out it is a really weird song and i dont fully understand it...but it is still a great song.
