Well considering my old video here is about crashes, whoever was saying Grid was better they are correct as far as crashes go, at least graphically. I've been able to try the Grid demo as well as the Need For Speed Shift demo since I bought a new Win7 compatible ffb wheel. They're both pretty much garbage in driving physics and force-feedback feel. I was considering getting Grid anyway just for the figure 8 demolition derby since it was $8 on Steam but the price went back up so I'll wait.
@lucrativeelfmongrel The handling physics are great. This is an old PC sim. I would recommend it but it does have some issues with Vista64 and Win7, but there are workarounds. Other good newer sims are GTR2 and Race07/GTR Evo. Rfactor is old but is one of the best. I don't have it because I tried the demo way back when but didn't like the fake cars that came with it, but through the years mod makers have made tons of cars and race series for it, worth a look. Live For Speed is good too I hear.
@Dethmeister Thanks for your help that's really cool of you. I think I'll probably invest in GT Legends (it's only £4 on Amazon anyhow. I run Vista 32 bit though, do you think I'll have any problems with the game?
@lucrativeelfmongrel What race games were you playing? Also the type of controller you're using makes a huge difference. Obviously using a keyboard or gamepad won't feel right and can't compare to using a force-feedback wheel and pedals regardless of the game.
@Dethmeister I really love GTR Evolution and use a reasonably cheap Thrustmaster FF steering wheel and pedals but they're really good fun in the game. I'm just looking for something that has realistic handling and I can enjoy for a while!
@masterpatric07 I've seen videos for GRID. It looked like an arcade game so I wasn't too interested. I'll download a demo to see what it's like if they have one. The crashes certainly look very impressive in GRID but the game looks more like a crashing sim rather than a racing sim. What are the driving physics like?
@masterpatric07 i have both and like them both, only a noob kid would say this is shit, now remember this game came out around 2005, and grid came out around 2008, now look how awesome this is and its a couple years older than grid, so think before you post
One interesting thing on this cars is the fact that when you brake hard, must let the brake for some moments and let the rev "act" down to, then, brake it more and make the turn...
Hmm yes, the brakes aren't very strong in these old cars. It is best to brake in a straight line while downshifting and let the lower gears help you slow. Then either coast or accelerate through the turns. Braking while turning isn't optimal, gives less control, under-steer/push.
I'm glad you had a nice laugh but I don't know why you think there were never any right hand drive GT40's. They even have the shifter on the right of the driver. These are from the 60's, not the new version. Watch Jeremy Clarkson try to get into one on the Top Gear video, it's here on youtube.
I mean, it's not too hard to swap a vehicle to rhd, especially if there isn't an engine or transmission in the way. Obviously swapped over. America didn't make them like that.
I'm pretty sure every GT40 that raced at Le Mans in the 60's was right hand drive, and were originally built like that. All the gt40s in this video are addons using the original GT40 from the game as a base. And it's based on a real car that's races in classic car races. Now I don't know if it's an original GT40 or probably a replica. But it doesn't matter cause the original racing version from the 60's were definitely right hand drive. So it's really not all that laughable.
TrackIR is a somewhat expensive bit of hardware, an optical motion tracking game controller for Microsoft Windows. It senses your head movements and translates them into the game's view. Like if you turn your head left, the view in the game will look to the left. GTL supports this system, if you don't have it then you don't have to worry about the center trackIR option.
do this crasches usually happen in GTL? Because that makes it more real, in GTR2, engine on fire:only my cars engine;cars flipping on the sand:only my car, and i never got a car flipping in GTR2, but if its like this in GTL well i better get that game!!!
To me GTR2 and GTL seem about the same in the crash area. I've seen cars flip in GTR2. GTR2 may actually have better crash graphics, dents and more pieces fly off in GTR2. But neither has crashes that seem all that realistic to me, but I try not to crash anyway heh. I like GTL better because the old cars are cooler looking and sounding and more fun to drive in my opinion.
Huh? No, The last 2 crashes are different angles of the same crash. I was in the yellow Pantera. The guy in the 911 completely ignored the turns, bounced off the wall and came back across the track and I hit him. He was crashing on purpose to show his friend what a crash looked like. He chose to do it in an online race because he's ignorant and selfish I guess. I explained this in an earlier post.
This game is a PC sim. The Driving Force Pro is for PS2 consoles? I made this vid when I was using an amd 2600+ cpu with an ati 9800pro vid card and an old original Logitech Wingman Formula Force wheel/pedals. I was using a mouse to look around during replay footage. But there is something called TrackIR Pro 4 that allows you too look around in games with head movements. I don't have that though.
Thanks. That made me mad at the time. I was in second place and the kid in the 911 crashed on purpose. I asked him why he did that and he said he was about to quit anyway and wanted to show his friend what a crash looked like in the game. I told him he should've disconnected and done that. I had sit and watch the rest of the race. But I'm glad he did it now cause it looks cool heh.
I don't know. The only car that is not one that came with the game is the first one. I downloaded alot of cars so maybe the dials got changed out on the original cars without me even noticing.
It was created by SIMBIN, a company that is pretty dedicated to realistic handling physics and performance specs, and published by 10TACLE Studios. The crashes can be quite fake though. It's for the PC, I don't think it's on any of the consoles.
I love this game.

If you are playing grid with an Xbox controller, the game has extremley sevre oversteering. It is almost impossible to turn a car in that game.

Er, or rather he set his rev limiter too high and it allowed his motor to go to very high revs for too long and it blew up.
