  • This song depicted my life when it came out, today 13 yrs later I can still reminiss to the song the trails and problems it was like for me watching my parents fight and my mom get hit and still wonder in disbelief why she would never leave. I love this band but this song hits home to alot of young people and people all the way in their late 30's now I'm sure. God Bless Art

  • Reality for alot of us!!!!

  • I had terrific parents but still this song gets me.

  • yup, takes me back to childhood memories. hard to not cry when i listen to this.

  • Alex is singing about what really happens behind the fake smiles!!!! A real life problem with some parents who put their life before the kids they bring into this world!!! Thank you Alex!!!

  • what is up with the boy and the girl ...there becomes two of each that go in different directions

  • @thelogicalGuy Like most children from broken families, they dont know whose side to be on, which way to go.

  • i miss you Chris Lewis,RIP bro.

  • I don notttt like the video, but the song is radd(:

  • Yeah...good song to just have a drink and listen to the words....love Everclear....home town group.

  • yeah me to, im from the west coast

  • dam this is a sad song. i love it though. i love everclear

  • ah when music made sense and sounded great what happened to our music industry

  • People (losers) who are putting comments that he died, dont post comments until you get the facts straight

  • It is what it is .

  • great song... it sux to listen to it while watching the girl u really like sleep like 10 feet away from u and she doesnt feel anything for u except just a friend...

  • I know what your saying, I had the same issue before. It sucks to be on a completley seperate wavelength then the person you relate to, but other opportunities can arise from the strangest of places.

  • sometimes the only thing you can do is tell a person your feelings...what they do with it is all upon them. not everything works out the way it should, or the way we want. its how you react to that situation that shows your character and level of maturity. sad fact of life is sometimes we have to simply move on when things dont go our way. good fact of life is there is always opportunity around the corner, growing up means taking the first few steps to get there...good luck!

  • I love this song.

  • These guys make very good songs

and the funny thing is that they all are true

ive been listening to thier music scince i was 6

  • them last lips and voice that says "wonderful"

    Liv Tyler?

  • 2:54 he like leans back and screams. It's pretty creepy. lol

  • This guy was on Ned Bigby's Declassified School Survival Guide as a music teacher.

  • @Exodiafinder687 yep and the little blonde girl in this video is Carlie Casey, that played "Missy Meanie" on the Neds Shows

  • @fredissexay woooow nvr knew that lol

  • You're not the brightest crayon in the box, are you?

  • Wow, that wasn't racist in the goddamn slightest.

  • Actually, it isn't. At all.

  • yo dude wtf is ur problem? hes black its not a big deal.

  • Ahh, classic Much Music. Jeez, now it's almost as bad as MTV.

  • 3:14 is just such an awesome shot for some reason

  • lmao i paused at that time and it made me laugh. Thank you for brightening my day. XD

  • this song is sad but really great at the same time! and their coming here on may 2nd! i can't wait!! =D

  • If he died when this was written (2000) then it ia very strange that he filed for bankruptcy in 2007.

  • he filed brankruptcy? lol....

  • What exactly are you laughing at meathead?

  • Took what hard? Your unintelligent statement that made absolutely no sense? I am taking it very hard however that you are not smart enough to use language above a sixth grade level. No, No, a 12 year old called me a faggot my heart is breaking.

  • You're just mad because you have to live your life on America's hat.

  • We can't all be americans. Jelousy is a sickness, get well.

  • He did not die...

  • Oh wow, it's been a good couple years since I listened to this. *rebuys the album since my friend nicked it*

  • wow a good song i love this band

  • this song really hits home. I cant listen to it without my eyes welling up with tears.

  • @jkind1 You sound like me my brother. Do like I did and pull yourself up from the crap delt to us and keep going on to make you something grandma would have been proud of. I did it and you can too. Be strong my brother. Work yout ass off just like I do. Take nothing from no one. Do it all yourself. God bless you and may you live a long life.

  • @nikemike98765

    That was useless.

  • @jkind1 same here with me.

  • @jkind1 i know how u feel, i do the same thing

  • @jkind1 A lot of Everclear's songs do that to me. But its still beyond great.

  • Wow so much of I feel. I totally understand.

  • that describes my exact feeling atm, except not my parents

  • lol

  • he seriously creeps me out with all those weird ass faces he keeps making!!!

  • wrote a diss song 3 weeks before his death?

  • he died?

  • probably my fave song by everclear. <3 such kick ass lyrics.

  • really good song! :)

  • real good song

  • lol that guys crazy lookin

  • another VH1 band from the 90's

  • I love the 90's in everything.

    Good music and good movies.

  • YEP the best rap and music was in the 90's, check out mobb deep - shook ones pt 1 and 2, u may like it

  • I'm happy now lmao

  • This is such a great song. I've been on both sides, the child's side, and now the parent's side. The anger, betrayal and pain come through so clearly here. Good song, Art.

  • how it felt when my parents divorced man it sucks growing up and haveing to go back and forth between two houses. and i used to do most of the things art says makeing believe i have a new life and wish not to start over again and how i didnt want to meet my parents "friends" man i felt so angry back then it was a rough time so i feel for any child and parent for that matter who has to go through that cause no child wants the last image of the marriage being their father walking out with a mattrs

  • i'm still in college, but i know when i start a family my biggest fear will letting that child down. i came from a broken home and i would never want my child to go through that.

  • calm your emotions...people got alot worse problems than you parents split up daily some kids dont have a dad...

  • that's when you listen to 'Father Of Mine' by Everclear.

  • saintpk, I don't have a dad, and I think that my parents splitting up is a much harder thing to deal with, and no, I'm not complaining because I know that things could be worse. No matter what your problem is things can be worse, but pain is pain, and nothing can change that, I guess it just depends on who you are what hurts worse.

  • Amen, pain is life. It depends on how much you let it affect you how bad your life is. Staying strong and surviving with a smile shows you are stronger than your pain.

  • Best.Song.Ever.

  • I love the psychology behind his songs. He got mature in life, wrote and sang about his past to let it out, made millions and it's all good. Damn, that's the way to go out and be happy. God bless Everclear.

  • Good song when your down...

  • very true~!!!

  • i love this song, its very moving

  • when my parents split up i listened to this song for like 2 months strait

  • I can really relate to this. My parents seperated when I was six and my life changed drastically. It isn't right to do that to a child.

  • Would you rather have your parents live together in a life they hate, just for you? Its not fair for them. Think about their opinion about it. Im sure your life would of been much worst if their relationship escalated to violence or even murder

  • I do love this song, and its a great video, but i think it might have been a little bit better if it was about his childhood, not about the two kids

but its fine and great the way it is

  • I can relate to this song..went through tough times after my parents died in 1999 and left me to look after my younger siblings..

  • this song is perfect for tough times. God bless you =)

  • Thank you very much.

  • I went through all this, parents left me, lived a terrible life with grand parents, 40 years ago and came out wonderful. My brother did not come out so good. He died last year at Christmas. My life was what I made it...

  • man can you say issues

  • Yeah...this is how it is when two people decide to be so stubborn to the point that they will not face their problems.

  • this song is more than wonderful

  • My parents never divorced, but my 2 stepson's did. Even though I can't personally relate to the emotional havoc experienced through such a tragedy, I sometimes wonder if they ever do. I'm a 45-yr-old male and I CANNOT watch this video without my eyes welling up. My boys are pretty happy, but I wonder sometimes.

  • this song saved 2.3million or even more kids from suicide when it first came out,i wonder how many it saved now....?

  • id like to know how they measured that

  • That's either a random statistic or an exaggeration. I assume the latter.

  • well lets see there r 5billion ppl in the world and at least 2billion r kids so its a possible statistic

  • Almost the last estimate was 6.5 Billion.

  • probally but w/e still just making a point lol

  • wow.. i saw this video like.. 7 yrs ago or more and i loved it but since then i never heard of it or know the name or artist.. till now that i saw the 40 days and 40 nights movie and i recognized this song... and i still like it.. awesome chorus.. great song ;)

  • How could you smile with all tears in your eyes?

  • i went through everything they talk about in this song.

  • this song really relates to me.

  • i know how bad it feels when your mum and dad split up and when i was in moods i all ways listend to this song ............but when u are in a mood you might think that ur useless but i aint............i found out when i was ina mood and i thought i was useless and i couldent do anything .......but i belive in myself and you have to belive in your self to enjoy life and u gotta go tho hard times sumtime but.....neva under estimate your self =]

  • i love this song i sang it randomly in class and my teacher is like nice song im like yepp and the class looked at me like i was a lunatic!

  • This was such a wonderful song, I remember when it first came out..still makes me cry

  • OMG, this song took me through soooo much, I can totally relate to this song, that's why it took me through soooo much whan my parents split up in a horrible way, the worst of the worst.....

  • when i first heard this song i alomst cried. it really hits home.

  • yep totally

  • awesome song..i freaking love it!

  • I used to really relate to this song! it still hurts a little...
