O WOW HE IS JUST TOO CUTE MY FRIENDS COUSIN WAS BORN 1 MTH. EARLY N HER AUNTS BABYWAS IN THE HOSPITTAL FOR ALMOST 1 YEAR I NOW HOW IT FEELS CAUSE SHE WAS A REALLY CLOSE FRIEND OF MIN EN I USED TO HER MY FRIEND BABYSITT HER COUSIN
Wow, that's really sad.I'm 11 years old right now but i am very emotional and if this happened to me i'd be crying and I'm so so so sooo sorry that this happened to u but at least he survived.
u guys are amazing ur boy is beautiful.. i know how hard it is i actually had premeture twin boys and one had a trachy put in all i can say guys is it only gets better as hard as it is ... i know how u feel its te hardest ting u will ever have to go through .. this makes me cry his so beautiful .. lets just say our boys are the biggest fighters in the world ... and just like u guys i took my son home t 9 month also with his trachy and cpap machine xx xx
Im legally blind, I see shadows and shapes from left eye. Also I have a light kinetic handicap. Im OK with that. The reason Im questioning ethics on preterm birth, is because Im a responsible scientist and I try to be objective and brave towards life.. Sometimes, we people, see only our side of view and wanna satisfy our need to make the infant survive at whatever cost, without thinking of the infant him/her self..
@gothexperiments it's 16 weeks early aka 24 weeks old... i think the youngest is 22 weeks. indeed the survival is really difficult because of all the complications, it's very expensive to support a pre-mature baby and the ethics here is probably in terms of utilisation. whether the millions spent here could be spend in other healthcare budget. while cruel.. this is an issue that has been debated a lot.. oh well, a young life gives more hope than a old one i suppose
@scorpioo: Thanks I thought it was 16 weeks gestation age.. I was premature my self. Born at 28 weeks 31 yrs ago.. I suffer from ROP. Im a brain researcher and did lot of research inside the NICU.. Still I think that in the US they should revise when they should permitt a premature infant to survive.. I was reading that, in the US the handicap rate is 3pled since they
passed a law which impose the survival even of very premature infants...
yeah, i suppose that if the morbidity associated with prematurity is very high, the law should be revamped.. but it's very difficult to let a baby die, knowing that if you do something, it MIGHT survive, regardless of cost (or subsequent health). I'm not very informed about ROP (searched the net -retinopathy due to prematurity).interesting that you are a premature baby and yet qnsing the ethical issue behind sustaining such fragile life because those are the basis that you survived on
I dont say that we should let any premature infant die. I say that I find irational to impose the survival of infants born at 15,20,22 weeks of gestation.. Because in the US there is not a gestation period limit for preterm infants.
i dun really understand what you mean by imposing survival of infants born at 15,20,22 weeks gestation. you mean as in trying their best to keep them alive or...? well.. i didn't know that there are premature baby surviving before 22 weeks, i thought that 22 weeks is already pushing it.. (sorry im not from us). what do you mean by gestational period limit for preterm infants?
Ιm not from US also. I mean that in the US the "law Reagan" of 1982, impose doctors to keep alive a preterm baby, no mater his gestation age. There are preterm babies born under 22 weeks.. In Europe a preterm baby born under 24 weeks is not considered viable. 40% of preterm babies born under 26 weeks will face a physical/mental handicap.
i saw his when i was pregnant and it made me cry my eyes out! i just watched it again and i cryed so much! it's so sad but im VERY happy sam is doing great! wonder if you'd do an update on how he is doing today!
Oh man, that poor little guy, what an awful way to start his life! My thoughts and prayers are with him and your beautiful family! It's amazing how strong these beautiful little babies are! Your struggle really makes me appreciate my son everyday, because he's also a little miricle baby, against all odds, he marched on!!! God Bless you little man!
i have a trach and im 12 years old.. im having lazer surgery to remove it in about a months... i also have a ileostomy.. i know its hard and iw as young when i got sick... but your son gave me even more hope!
im so happt 4 u my baby girl was 9weeks early and that was so scary. god noes what ur family went trough. my daughter is due 2 have her pda closed in the nxt 6weeks x
I ws 17 weeks early nd I weighed 1lb 1 oz they thought I wasnt gonna live nd if I did wouldnt be passed 6 mouth I was born jan 6th nd was suppose to be born the end of april my mom had me at the age of 14 yrs old, ty didnt expect me to live pass 6 mouths old I am now 14 nd Im fine yeah I was very tiny and nw Im doing wel bc children has saved my life nomerous time I have been dignosed wt astma lupus celiac disease tones mr diseases I have also had brain tummors open heart surgery

Hey, Ima girl. And i was born early, and the weight of 2 pounds 1 ounce. And im 12 now. living, i made it. doctors say, that girls are more likely to make it. And i did.
hes so cute i cant explain how i felt watching this video but when i saw how powerful of an impression this leaves on me i can only imagine what you had to go through god bless
my sister was born almost 3 months pre mature shes lucky 2 b alive she has so many medical conditions and her parents got divorced (im from my fathers 2nd marige )i love my sister 2 death
For my comment I just posted! I served in the military and I work as a fire fighter and going to school for nursing! I just got accepted into a pre-med program to become a doctor. So like I said don't give up on babies for any reason! I have pictures of my in the palm of people hands and my little legs curled on in the palm! This is another reason I do not believe in abortions, there are way too many preemies surviving at ages in which people can have abortions! it's murder!
There is hope! I was born 16 weeks early and weighed 1.4lbs and you could see throught my skin! I am now 24 years old! Everyone is suprised when I tell them that and they can't believe! Never give up on babies because they are little fighters and I know that from my personal experience! Before they transferred me to childrens hospital they told my mom to say her last goodbyes because I wasn't expected to make it through the night! They gave up on me and I proved them wrong! Don't stop fighting!
I can't agree less! I was born asthmatic and almost died of complications from it. After that I got sick so often as a kid and spent my 1st birthday in the hospital. I caught flus and colds all the time and it would take me months to fully recover. My mom nearly gave up on me but I'm glad she didn't! Now I'm a college student living a normal life.
After watching the vid I realize who lucky I am to be alive at this moment.
I can't wait until my miracle baby finally gets to come home! But seeing this video i know the day will come. She too was 16 weeks and 2 days early and she is still in the NICU 5 months later! God Bless You!
OMG im soooo happy he made it thruu you see alot of videos ppl post on youtube of there premmies and they eventually pass away in the hospital after a short time after birth your son is a mircle baby and im proud of him and you guyss deffently are.. i dont even know baby sam butt hes awsomee!! your a stronge lil man sam your parents must be happy to have you! im a mother of one my son is almost 2 in july.. and hes a blessing in my life. babies are precious! take care sammm <3
My heart goes out to you and your sweet family. But I have a belief..maybe it seems dumb but I truly think that children born with problems were already too good to have to prove anything to God. This little child is already an angel. ;)
my son had subglottic stenosis and tracheostomy, we have learned how to live with that. Now he is doing extremely well, tube was removed few months ago after laryngotracheo reconstruction at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. That was miracle. All the best for u all. God bless you.
god it made me cry.. I mean in the begginin he was so so small.. with all that stuff comin to him and out. gosh. hes a very cute and nice boy now, like a small angel. :)
Omgosh! That is just a miracle! You are the luckiest mom (or dad?) ever, most babies born 4 monthes early dont survive, and your baby pulled through EVERYTHING, not just prematuratey, EVERYTHING! Im so happy, and you have yourself the more adorable little boy ever. Congrats. =]
This video almost made me cry and brings back so many memories! My son was born at 32 weeks, had heart surgery when he was 7 months old,and also had a trach for about 2 yrs. He also had his PDA repaired and has a rare chromosome disorder-so rare that he is the only known case ever with this chromosome deletion. He is almost 4 now and is mostly behind with his speech. My heart goes out to u and I just want to tell you that miracles really do happen and our babies r living proof! How is Sam doing?
I was looking at this because a good friend of mine has had 3 preemies. One was 23w 3d 1lbs 3oz & he passed away at 11 days. The 2nd, 23w 3d and he was 1lbs 6oz. He had a rough start like Sam and almost had the same complications/operations except he had a colostomy. And 3 weeks ago she had a baby girl at 27w 4d (with a cerclage and progesterone shots)she was born at 2lbs 10oz 15 inches, a lot bigger than expected. She is breathing on her own, and eating 36ccs bottles. Way 2 go Sam! Awesome!
Such a cutie! Lilike was suspected of neonatal sepsis on her day of birth when she showed signs of being pale with rapid breathing/skin pulling under the ribs. And a low temperature when she was admitted to the NNU just before she was 1 hour old. She had a high white cell coutn nad was placed on 5 days of iv antibiotics and a further 2 days of antbiotics via injections in the thigh. 7 days of antibiotics! Turned out Lilike actually had TTN.
So happy that your child came out from this. He's beautiful, good luck for all mate!! I'm a father too, your feelings are my feelings!
