bewlaybrother=jerk !

I have read the book, suggest you do the same....

  • is the smiths song ..william it was really nothing.....about morrissey and billy.

  • Crikey......The trouble is she is absolutely correct...from 1982-1985..nothing...... he could have been anything.......... a talent unfulfilled....no doubt..

  • Christ what a waste. A terrible loss, I think about the music he could be recording today had he not left us.

  • A great talent, possibly unfulfilled,.........I thought the presenter was rather good, better than the usual sugary pap.

  • So sad ;( that he committed suicide after hearing / singing Gloomy Sunday song....

  • WOW!!!! What a voice!!!.... What a loss

  • @vienna987 up yours!!

  • ……. Thank you soooo much, BlairBooth, for having uploaded this Billy MacKenzie gem. I can never listento/watch this w/o crying at some point along the way ~ (•8-o

  • The worst thing about Billy's passing, is that his death was by his own hand.

  • @sirtinycreep I know...All I have said as I listen (becoming a fan myself), is 'fucking Billy, how could you?' Still, what a brilliant voice.

  • What an amazing talent...

  • i have watched this countless times and want to say thank you

  • What talent, what a singer and sadly what a great loss... Rest in Peace Mr Mackenzie.

  • What a beautiful voice. Up there with the angels. RIP XXXX

  • Much missed, much talented...Billy MacKenzie

  • just watched him singing wild is the wind,he was wearing a wig! same year as this. very strange.....

  • @caltontongs73 This was late 1990 on The Late Show on BBC2. Billy's version of "Wild Is The Wind" was four years later and screened on Janice Forsyth's wee STV arts show Dont Look Down in the autumn of 1994. I taped both on Nicam.

  • I must've missed this at the time because I definitely don't remember it. A lovely clip, thanks for sharing...

  • Irony = Robbie Williams getting a £billion record deal and this guy dying penilless. What a talent. RIP.

  • Gobsmackingly awesome. Enough said.

  • belter tune billy, dundee's no' the same...

  • What a talent. So sad he is gone :-(

  • Magical song. This is only my second listen to the Associates but my guess is I'm about to become a fan.

  • came accross this after looking for Party Fears Two

    Truly beautiful Sad Loss

  • tragic loss to the music business, for sure, and criminal that the Great British Publiic never got to fully recognize his genius - RIP.

  • I once supported the Associates- i think it was 1978/9 at the Copacabana in Fort willam. seems like another lifetime,

what a voice, cheekbones to die for :)

  • really great performance from billy

  • What a lovely track. First time I've heard it. I wasn't really an Associates fan in the 80s, but always loved Billy's voice.

  • I always loved and respected Billy. What an amazing talent! I wish he got the credit he deserved. He was a major influence on me. I will always remember and love him. RIP Billy. You were an original. You always will hold a place in my heart.

  • It's always a treat for me to find these live performances from some of my musical heroes. Billy, the man with THE best voice EVER. Love You!

  • Totally sublime heaven, Mr Velvet Voice.

Gone but you are never forgotten......

  • ove billy mckenzie a wonderful, wonderful talent but also a sad loss

  • what a wonderful performance. I always loved this album in its entirety. I know in his bio the author kind of panned it, but I still find it good.

I feel sad to think that Billy had such talent and he still was not happy

  • great track

  • Sublime. A sad loss.

  • To be cherised and remembered!

  • Love is eternal,forgiving

    Lovelovelove nam myoho renge kyo

Daimoku for you Billy..Peace and Love always

  • suicide is such a waste,what a talent gone,and for what!

  • People don't kill themselves on a whim, it is usually a result of deep psychological problems that are never addressed and simply fobbed off with prescription drugs. I doubt he really wanted to die

  • i did,nt say he done it on a whim,but i understand what you are saying.r.i.p billy.

  • Can someone please post the cover of "Follow me"

  • a great voice - wasted,tragic but very talented

  • how did he die?

  • killed himself, prescription drugs overdose..

  • Buddha...nammyohorengekyolovelovelove...

    and so it is!

  • ha ha.. oh dear...thats me on the piano... long time ago now.

  • You are wonderful on piano...

    ...beautiful you are!

  • Yes I aggree.

  • cool

  • wow this is a great song, never heard it before. I also have never heard of the mutt doing the intro at the beginning, nor ever want to.. Nice one billy

  • This is wonderful song from Billy. I can't stop playing the videos for this and "Wild and Lonely". I love the atmospheric, jazzy feel to the songs. Either song could/should have been the theme song to a James Bond movie.

As for the opening remarks shown at the beginning, they were pretty rough. Everytime I hear these remarks, I just want to tell the TV host (whomever she is) to open her mouth and insert her foot.

  • SENDING DAIMOKU.

  • Beautiful song - lyric and vocals beyond compare. Rest in peace sweet Billy..love you always. Nam myoho Renge Kyo - love is eternal.

    And so it is.

    Much appreciation for posting this.

  • Dear God, what a waste of such a good voice makes me sad.

  • love to here billys voice again .does eny 1 know what girl in the band is doing now.

  • God Bless, Billy

  • Thanks Billy!!

    R.I.P.

can't belive it's almost a year since the tribute in Glasgow.

Thanks Blair( you beutifull woman you,and superb vocalist) for sharing these vids, With friends like you Billy will NEVER be forgotten :)

    Thanks for

  • great musicians, wonderfully sung by Billy. This is almost a lament, sad but lovely. It takes an inner emotion to sing like that, and sadly some of the previous comments reflect the commentators ignorance. Thank you Billy for wonderful memories, right back to your club country days. A masterpiece. RIP Billy

  • Awesome footage.

    Thank you Blair,

    Libbie - Dundee

  • A sparkling gem but what a shite introduction...I expected Billy to walk off even before he'd begun... but he was gracious and jus let it roll off of him before giving us his unique magic. I can hear Scott Walker singing this in the 60s.

  • I agree about the introduction. Is this a common thing on this show, that the host makes rude comments about the guest right before their performance? Billy was creeping toward her like he was gonna cold-cock her. He should have.

  • Here Here..dalgiaservices is talking utter shite-do your homework before you comment and stop talking like a prick..

  • Also, if you didn't know Billy, you have no right to judge. I have been in touch personally with numerous people who *did* know him IRL, who would dispute your view. None of us are perfect. But that's all irrelevant, now, isn't it?

And your words "the coward's way out" are very offensive, and show that you understand nothing about mental illness and depression. You clearly don't know the full story, and should not pass judgment.

I then wonder why you bother with a trite "RIP" after all that!

  • On January 22, 1997, depression and the death of his mother are believed to have contributed to MacKenzie's suicide. He overdosed on prescription drugs in his father's garden shed. He was 39 years old. Billy 10 years on ! i wish you were still with us ! a great man ! 1957 - 1997

  • If you think Billy was "overrated", and that most of his music was "crap" (your personal opinion, no more; plenty disagree), then why are you even bothering to comment about him here? I could spend my entire day posting negative comments under videos on here by bands or artists I don't like, but I don't see the point.

  • believe me your wrong.

  • Thank you for adding this. What a voice Billy had.Incredible....

  • Great quality - it had to be BlairBooth! A Star - thanx

  • This is wonderful, thanks Blair. Thanks for posting this lovely performance.

  • Pure class....Yet so sad to see him again.

  • This is fantastic, thanks for posting this. I've been listening to this all xmas and still love it! It's got me buying as much of Billy's output that I can afford. What a fantastic voice and he seems really sweet in the Tube interview, I wish I knew more about him.

  • I miss you Billy!

  • Along with Freddie Mercury and Scott Walker, Billy was of the the UKs cultural gems. Noone ever sang like Billy. RIP sweet prince...

  • Thank you so much for the lovely comments, it means so very much. I'm trying to put up the Big Day. But Youtube didn't process it. Will try again.

    Blair

  • @blairbooth Any "14 mirrors" video to upload on Yoo tube ?
