I'm glad that more guys are starting to knit. It's nice that knitting is starting to outgrow it's girls-only reputation. I know of one knitting store in Santa Cruz that seems to cater to guys who knit. Super cool!
The funny thing is that a long, long time ago - it was mostly only the guys who knit. There's all sorts of photos of this in a few history of knitting books. So it's not an entirely new thing. It's only modern stereotypes that ended up ruining it for half of us.
I love the general look of "what the hell am I doing?" that all these men have on their faces. But it's great that they were willing to learn. I hope at least one of them stuck with it. =)
I am a guy that knits. Taught myself how to knit about six months ago. It is fun and keeps the hands moving and the mind busy. I'm currently working on tapestries. lots of fun which combines knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. Knitting is easy and fun. Give it a try.
I'm a man and I knit :P though unlike the guys in the video I just picked up some needles and taught myself. Hehehe I picked it up really quick and can knit better than my grandma who's been knitting since long before my mom was even born.
(I'm a guy) I took up knitting because I needed something to do in the middle of the night. You see I have insomnia, and there is never anything good on tv at 3AM. So I started watching Youtube videos, and now my friends love getting scarves and head warmers from me. I love knitting. It's a great time killer, and it doesn't require alot of energy, so you can knit for hours.. :D
My wife is a REAL GOOD knitter, She can't bicycle with me so I learned to knit with her. Within an hour I was doing cables! I figure I build things for a living, and knitting is nothing more than "building" dishcloths hats and socks one stitch at a time.
My children's dentist is an awesome knitter. When he first he retired his wife got tired of his bugging her so she made him learn to knit...lol. He then got a job as a dentist working with low income families, so his pay is not as good...although they take patients who are not low income. Anyhow, he knits presents for all of his coworkers and for the dental assistants. He is also willing to give knitting advice to parents who knit and bring in their knitting at their child's appt.
I am starting tommorow to knit a hat as a Christmas gift and some socks for my friends and I am working already at a long straight skirt for...me. Man, I love knitting! What are you working on if you don't mind me asking? maybe you can inspire me in working at a different project. Happy knitting!

according to wiki, "Originally a male-only occupation, the first knitting trade guild was started in Paris in 1527. Knitting became a household occupation with the growing popularity of knitted stockings and by the end of the 1600s, one to two million pairs of stockings were exported from Britain to other parts of Europe."
y'know, it's a lot of fun and keep you busy. surprisingly, not that many people comment that I knit... and I am a guy. 'sides, I like the challenge and it keeps me occupied on commutes.

This is great. I'm glad that someone is trying to get more guys to learn knitting. It's not just a woman hobby anymore.

The fellows are good sports. I'm sure that I looked just as confused when I started knitting many years ago.
