  • looks like Chapin needs to pee like really bad.

  • want lis t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if anyone has any of these cards plzs message me im hunting them down one by one: 4 elvish archdruid 1 coat of arms 2 vampire nocturnus 2 Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary 3 wirewood lodge (land card) 3 gilt-leaf archdruid 2 Nissa Revane 4 Heritage Druid 4 Priest of Titania 4 elf harbinger i dont really care if there mint condition just not any tears
  • anyone got a list for the deck?

  • Just listen to what he says... lol

  • its funny that this is from june 12 of 2008 and faeries are still good or at least until conflux is officially released for tournament play.

  • Still running good with M10.

To bad it will be out in about a couple of months.

  • Conflux didn't kill fae . Great sable stag did.

  • I want to make a deck like that ;) I need more of those non-basic lands though.

  • i made it if you are i would recommend adding

    Kitchen Finks

    Anathemancer

    Maelstrom Pulse

    Reveillark

    Esper Charm

    and no Shriekmaw

    also Though Hemoragghe in S/B

  • this deck was def block/limited

  • @TheOffspringFan12 bascially your completely changing it? lol

  • oh and cruel ultimatum

  • this deck was def block/limited

  • i tried this deck but i subbed cryptic command for flame jav and i got 1 win 1 loss 2 draws its kinda ok i used forge tender and recumberent bliss in the board against decks with gargadon and such

  • gargadon isa not it block

  • when i tried this deck i never said it was in block

  • Can someone please explain to me the Mannequin + Mulldrifter/Shriekmaw/whatever-evokes combo? I'm just not certain as to how mannequin works with evoke. Thanks in advance.

  • nothing special really. its just that evoke is really cheap most of the time, so you can play them early game. then later game, or even better, right at 4th turn, you can mannequin to abuse their coming into play effect again. not really creative, but it sure as hell gives you an advantage.

  • That's what I thought, but I was thinking there was some really interesting ability behind the combo I wasn't seeing. Hmm... Okay, thank you.

  • anyone else hate oblivion ring as much as i do?

  • no - it is good, most of the time, it would be better if it had flash

  • Unmake is an instant that does the same thing. Its crazy.

  • ehem unmake removes creatures while Oring removes nonland permanents(planeswalkers, enchantments)

  • you must have it used against you alot

i love Oring i am the only person who uses it.

    enchantment hate is the answer

  • Play Esper Charm

  • esper charm did not exset yet but mot 5 coller deks do now thow .

  • i don't even think it exsisted yet

  • i am building a version of this but i run devoted druid over fertile ground

  • fertile ground is so good with garruk, try it

  • I think it`s a bad idea it provides only graan mana and it`s easier to kill ,I rly can

`t think of any thing it would do better than fertile ground

  • i wanna see burnt toast in action otherwise i wasting money on a deck i'm not sure to use

  • dont waste money on this deck, its ok but not great

  • its a really very good deck i like it because it has access to every cards in any color.

  • so does eveery other 5 color control deck! ... excuse me but 5 mana for a pyroclasm and sonte rain? 5 mana ne thing against ne faerie deck is going to get countered

  • also pat chapin just recently top 8 at detroit with a solar flair kinda deck. i think it features the kithkin witch and reveillark to blink it and then get more dudes that evoke. its nice also features doran, then he also made a shaman deck in block - i dont think he liked it as much though because he didnt play it that much and didnt take it to ne big tourney

  • its funny because the format is about kithkin and faeries! faeries is still the best in the block even without the awesome duel lands conclave and ancestral visions.

  • i think that people who are criticizing the deck should consider that if chapin is getting good results against faeries and kithkin and you're not, maybe it's you that cant play with the deck. or chapin is playing only against bad players, but i dont think thats the case.

  • i think chapin is still wrong ... ask him now how he is doing against faeries and kithkin, not so well i tell u

  • He did kind of mention that he was still working on the deck, so give him a break. Also, I bet, that a lot of these comments are from players that are not even in the top 100 players in the world. I know I'm not.

  • dear patric chapin

i played your dech 500 times in the last week there is no way this deck can beat faeries or kithkin in htis years block format

  • Every time Chapin tries to act like he's a relevant deck builder it makes me smile.

    Dear Pat Chapin:

You're trying to resolve a 5 mana pyroclasm against faeries. And kithkin obviously haven't started running forge-tender in main.

  • after testing this command i say it is mediacore. one of the weaker spells in the deck. primal command is better

  • you really cant sweep board and kill a mutavault at sorecery speed agaisnt faeries, i mean they save their mana waiting for you to cast that 5 mana sorecery!

  • the vid is hacking for can some one pleas send me a deck list cuz the deck seams intresting

  • good deck a nice variant on 5color control but i want to see more of a active deck insted of a reactive deck that has answers. Fish is good in legacy format because it plays cards people have to deal with or they will have a big problem on there hand so that is the reason that i want to have a 5color control deck that plays bitterblossom and does not have "answers" to it because who is realy controlling the game the person playing the cards or the person saying i need to deal with that card now

  • the American take on the French deck?

i dont think this deck is as good as Quick n' Toast, but it sure beats Ten Commandments.

  • wow i like how chapin actually made a good deck tech. he was acting like an idiot at the last pro tour i was starting to think less of him.

  • he has had pleny great deck techs before, i think this is one of his worse ones. im not sold on the red command

  • Sordid he doesn't NEED the Notions its jsut nice one of

  • This deck won the PTQ last night.

  • sarcasm dude.

  • Since Merfolk of the Pearl Trident...wow.

  • sarcasm dude.

  • I realized that. It just wasn't funny.

  • what card is next to reflecting pool

  • The new version of reflecting pool

  • nice

  • My fav of the new sets is definately merfolk.

  • Who else loves how Pat, magic pro with hookups with some of the greatest players of all time has proxies in his deck tech?

    I love it lol.

  • Replying to my own to add, that the card that he had to proxy is one of the least sought after cards in all of LRW/SHM block. Chapin rules all obv.

  • I have always wondered why this was called th "Burnt Toast Deck" I am using a mountain/power deck at the moment.

  • Haven't played Magic in forever...

  • a lil bit more and you'll get there. gl

  • Oh my god i didn't know pat chapin was so mad, running 24 lands is just madness, not running Kitchen Finkel is pure stupidity and, i know oblivion ring is cute but you cant just put 4 of them, i mean, 4 slots taken away by an answer to threads that can be solved with 2 slots like a pair of austeree command...

AND WHAAAAAATTTTT???????????? ONLY 1 COPY OF MIND SPRING, OH GOD PAT UR GETTING MAD, that card is so awesome.

    whorst deck by pat ever

  • Chapin made it.

24 is a good curve for a 5 mana kill card.

It's Finks, and it's in the SB.

    OBTW: Glittering Wish plox

  • Glittering Wish is Time Spiral Block...

  • Disappointing 100th episode.

  • "Drools" I like this Burnt toast Deck...

  • its so dumb i was the only one in town playin kithkin and then like 50 pple started playin kithkin looking up decks online and junk and they were pretty much what i had but i didnt look em up

  • actually kithkin work well agaisnt fae

  • Oh piss off. If someone wants to play in a LOCAL tournament and they don't have tonnes of money, let them play what the hell they want.

  • 100 f**Kin shows!!!!!!1

  • MULLDRIFTER!!!

  • Yeah Magic Show, alright 100 episodes!

  • WOOOOAAAAH this is SICK like the elemental deck I made where...literally... I took all the good elemental cards I had and threw all the best random answer cards I had in one deck and magically got the 5 color mana balance with out trying and the thing is stupid consisted. It's sad that probably the best deck I've ever made was pretty much an accident.

BTW, HORDE Of NOTIONS is my favorite game ender EVER. I hoped so much someone of merit would actually like that card with me, i was lonely. lol

  • Looks cool :D

  • "Merfolk of the Pearl Trident."

    Hilarious

  • Congrats for the 100th episode. (maybe a little off-topic) excellent choice of music in #100 and #100a (as always). looking forward to the next 100.

  • QFT

  • He's got good reasoning on many aspects of the deck... Of course, he's Chapin... But I still think he's using way too many Vivids. In fact, I'd drop 1 Vivid Creek for another Island. Or 1 Vivid Marsh. Not sure yet.

Deck's pretty good, though. And I'd have to agree with his Incendiary Command theory. Not that it's a sleeper hit, but definitely a card to consider.

  • Are you talking about chapin seiku?

  • Looks fun to play with.

  • Congrats on episode 100 for the magic show now i gotta go put some horde of notion in my Quick'n'toast deck

  • Weird slash semi-gay question,

    Is Pat a natural blonde?

  • He has hair! lol ~__~

  • I think this deck will actually do good and go places and whats up with the map of middle earth in the background lol

  • Any video featuring Tokyo Police Club music gets an automatic five stars. Not that you didn't deserve them anyway.

  • episode 100 yay!!

  • I think Cryptic is the best since Misdirection. I used to love that card...

  • Remand. Cryptic Command is the best blue card since Remand.

  • You have a point. I just never played a lot of Ravnica block cards so I forgot about it.

  • Being a huge fan of control decks, I would love to see the aggro block meant to punish control become dominated by a control deck. No idea if this will happen, but I can dream.

  • This deck is really good but it has problems with red green warriors in block... I built it and play tested with my friend and my build of red green warriors beats it 7 out of 10 games

  • actually with patrick's last statement about the meta, if this block ends up being dominated by control again like with mystical teachings/korlash control in time spiral, I'm gonna be pissed

  • Yea, I think Forsythe said that Bitterblossom was printed to keep slow control decks in check, because they didn't like how Time Spiral Block turned out.

He has either a gun or a bottle of whiskey in his office right now after seeing these control decks. Or both, after seeing the eighty bajillion QnT variants.

  • Did they ban ancesteral visions?

  • no this deck is for block

  • No, this deck (not mentioned by Chapin) is for block format, which consists only of Lorwyn, Morningtide and Shadowmoor. Ancestral Vision was printed in Future Sight, so it isn't legal for block, but it is still legal in standard and extended, etc.

  • HORDE OF NOTIONS SECRET TECH!!!

  • Awesome, a new magic show...

  • Great deck lmao.
