  • im sorry but this song is not soothing at all for me. my ear finds lack of performance. The reason why i speak out this thought is because it seems like he rushed everything so he can hurry up and satisfy his fans and all.....

  • Aseretkavon :)))) I know that it wasn't composed for Will and Kate! :)))) I discovered and immediately bought the cd long time before of Wedding of the century! :)))I thought this piece for myself :))))...oh well, now I know that I never will get married... Never mind ! :))))) still this piece is favourite of mine :))) Now i have different KGB identity ;))))))

  • I have a feeling that I will want this song to be played at my wedding. <3

I haven't gotten engaged, or even have met the man of my dreams yet! I feel like one of those creepy brides who picks her wedding dress before she gets engaged... But this song has no equal!

  • sang this song last year in a national competition, helping us get first place. Amazing song, beautiful song. Makes me long to get married as soon as possible :)

  • This song made for Kate and William! I am so proud of today's day! I am proud Brit of foreign background, but i feel the heartbeat of the nation! May this heavenly beautiful music seal their blessed marriage! Diana, would be so proud of her son and moved by his perfect choice!!!!!!

  • @Eberiya This was NOT made for Kate and William... If you notice, the video was posted in 2008, long before they even were engaged. The song that was played at the royal wedding was Ubi Caritas by Paul Mealor. Not even in the same language! I forgive you, though. If I was the person to decide the wedding music, this would have been in their wedding for sure.

  • This really makes me miss being in choir :'(

  • i love this song singing it with my choir =]

  • Thanks for posting Eric's exceptionally lovely music with pictures.

Numerous special effects were rather overdone and distracting, but I forgive a lot because of some heart-wrenching pictures such as the girl and boy at 2:48. Such innocent beauty is so evocative.

    Live long and prosper.

  • @007TruthSeeker I'm confused. Your username implies that you are James Bond, yet the last sentence implies that you are in fact Spock...

    ...Are you their love-child?

    I like your comment, though...

  • @aseretkavon Thanks, and kudos for making that connection. My birth was auspicious, actually, occuring on THE day flying saucers were first sighted flying over the U.S. While this has fueled much irresponsible speculation among those that know me, my story is that I am simply just another Earth child, and I'm sticking to it. ;o)

  • Just amazing. Thats why i really love music. Thank you all. Alejaimevideos

  • i sang this song 2 years ago for my choir director's wedding. it was so cool

  • Absolutely love Eric Whitacre, and this song, but some of the pictures, particularly the Memoirs of a Geisha poster have nothing to do with the song. I'd prefer it with just a black screen actually. That's how all Whitacre songs should be heard (if not live, of course)

  • I want this song to be sung at my wedding.

    like, my actual wedding ceremony.

i'd explain how i'd want it done, but I'll keep that to myself :)

  • @fuckenfeliciaaa So do I. :)

  • WTF IS WTH THE RANDOM PICTURES?

  • Hmm, it would seem that the words are based on a poem by a Persian poet called Rumi. Is that correct?

  • That is correct. Its on Eric Whitacre's "Couldburst" Album. Its amazing.

  • correct!

  • yup, Jalal al-Din Rumi

  • Very nice setting. I must admit I hardly watched the visual part with all its bourgeois symbolism, but preferred to think of it in more abstract terms, with the musical setting leading the way. Although the words depict a secular marriage, the overall sound-world would not be at all out of place in a church setting.

To think I'd never heard this piece or of Eric Whitacre until just a few days ago, but I really like this piece - very evocative. Btw, did he also write the text?

  • It's a poem by Jalal al-Din Rumi, who was a 13th Century Persian poet and theologist.

  • I found the stereo version after listening to part of it in mono - wow, quite a difference - be sure and click the stereo link in the description :)

  • my mum sung this with her choir that i had missed expo especially to go and see. she dedicated it to my dad for their wedding anniversary

  • shut up

  • "May these vows and this marriage be blessed. May it be sweet milk, this marriage, like wine and halvah. May this marriage offer fruit and shade like the date palm. May this marriage be full of laughter, our every day a day in paradise. May this marriage be a sign of compassion, a seal of happiness here and hereafter. May this marriage have a fair face and a good name, an omen as welcomes the moon in a clear blue sky. I am out of words to describe how spirit mingles in this marriage. "
  • @MAEdalgo Utterly beautifly said, my friend!!!!!

  • Not a single song on Earth symbolizes the beauty of Marriage better than this one.

EXCELLENT VIDEO, BEAUTIFUL FADES. PERFECT TIMING, 10/10

  • this is a good song. But I feel the video is too busy. I think it needs to be softened up some and slowed down. it's ok tho
