Certain not what this You Tube video is showing..& the proof of that is 1: Alpha One Antitrispin has only been FDA approved for 2 decades (20 years) 2: Dr.Eli Lewis, the guy in the video is the quack who created this new lead, would have been about 7 years old 30 years ago lol & 3: DNA or Genetic Engineering did NOT exist 30 years ago, its a relatively new science, which produced Dolly the sheep, whom i have met in real life! haha

These people weren't the first to do this it's been done in Cuba for over ten years now even in Mexico it's being done succesfully ,I wouldn't expect it to be aprroved in the U.S anytime soon as they would rather not cure anyone and keep making a killing on medicine treatments ect...

Ah..OK...i take back what i said 3 weeks ago asking if this guy was on crack! lol My apologies to Doc Elie Lewis (seen in video)! Hes taking about a new drug called "Alpha-1 Anti Trypsin", which seems ((or does?) stop the immune system killing off newly implanted beta cells! This is all news to me & greatly welcomed too! MY Gawd, is the doctor in this video on crack or something? Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease! Islet transplants have been around for years by means of a simple injection right in to the pancreas! The stumbling block is that the immune system kills off all insulin producing islets in a person with type 1 & that's is what scientists cannot cure!

@actrapide this guy is one of the leading experts in the field. The video obviously dumbs down what he's doing but that stumbling block is what he's trying to get around! Even in the video though they mention all of that.

When will this treatment be available?, I know this research has been going on for sometime, how far off is it from being approved?

It strikes me that this is one of the breakthroughs that people have been hoping for. Transplants are possible, but it is autoimmune disease that has been the bain of this procedure for type 1 diabetics. Eventually the body will attack itself again.

It will be interesting to follow, and important to understand the entire protocol necessary to make this "cure" work. Ivan NYC

I am very happy as a diabetic and as a jew to see that israel has a large chance of finding a cure, maybe evryone will give israel a break then and stop bagging the poor country. but im not happy with the treatment of the lab rats it looks cruel why do they use scissors how do they get blood from them onto a strip, and do they make sure there not in pain?. Looks like Israel is very much advanced where Diabetes research is concerned.I read that Diabetes is reversible(back to normal health)if discovered early(by exercising,et.cetera.),but this Israeli research is very hopeful indeed.Thank you Israel21c!!!

Yes, but they don't know if it causes pancreatis cancer, that will take another 10-50 years. I am confused why scientist have so many claims to cure illnesses, yet there has not been even one cure. I am not saying illnesses cannot be cured, but no specific treatment has been responsible those who have been cured. Science develops good therapy, but it is up to the patient to accept G-d's healing.
