@evanthemack If the armed response unit have to urgently get out the car they would have the firearms in their hands except the driver obviously but if they were to surround a building or something they would keep the firearms in the boot and take them out when they get to the scene.
@evanthemack British police wouldn't normally transport prisoners to a police station by car most of the time they would put them in a van. The firearms of a police armed response unit would be transported in the boot (trunk) but if they have to immediately get out the police passengers would hold on to their firearm.
@evanthemack I don't live in London but where I live in the UK the police drive Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Evo, Mitsubishi Lancer and Vauxhall Insignia VXR.
@evanthemack I bet Dodge Charger police cars are rare. British police don't ram cars off the road which can possibly put people in danger. Police in a pursuit here would either close roads or block the car in using multiple police cars.
@hello9949 Actually, Dodge Chargers, at least from what I've seen are slowly being integrated into loads of the small town Departments. My wife lives in a 2,000 population town in Alabama, and they just bought a new charger, and the next town over bought 2.
Mind you, they were using CVPI from the early 00s and a Chevy Impala and also a Ford Explorer K-9 they bought from Hoover, AL PD
@hello9949 I do understand why the Americans use their Dodge Chargers, CVPIs and massive Ford F-350s, because pretty much everything out there has a V8 or is a pick-up truck. (I'm not joking, everything I saw/heard was either a pickup or some sort of Ford Mustang/Muscle car) Very few Nissans and Hondas out there.
All met cars from 07 on have LED light bars, prisoner vans being the exception. The box has been done away with largely. Only a few 06 plated vehicles remain.
At stupid etc lightbar - these are Met Police's cheapo beat cars, which they have to buy in the hundreds in order to meet London's demands. They can't really afford to decorate them all up for Christmas (although the newer beat cars do actually have LED lightbars).
At green lightbar - it only appears green because of the lighting conditions. The lights are indeed blue.
At no comparison for the CVPI - no, it isn't, and it doesn't do the same jobs either. We have traffic cops for that.
Speaking of it anyway - Can anyone tell me the maker of this lightbar? I cant find it anywhere online. Looked up Whelen, Premier Hazard, Code-3 and VisionMax.
@DoTheShuffaloShake I have found some other pictures and they look like the Britax logo (owned by PSE Int. which also owns Code 3 and Premier Hazard) although I have not found it on any of their sites - probably old.
@muhkuh2005 because most UK police vehicles dont have a siren control box where you could pick a siren you have to activate the siren using the horn button and you have to keep pressing it say if you need to find your yelp or wail, plus using the horn also keeps up the awareness of the police vehicle if the siren isnt on
Brilliant video, I just love it when officers shut the siren off and don't force other people into traffic which could cause an accident. Of course this depends on the severity of the call.
Someone has been paying attention during the grade one driving classes, he remembered to go off the noise when there's no way though traffic, they also switched off the full beam flashers.
And that is just so lucky that it stops right in front you:)
Good to see the IRVs with the good siren and bar still out there.
@westmidlands1 They are Wig-Wags, I weren't sure that's that they are called in the UK as well.
The wig-wags have been turned off manually, they aren't flashing when moving as well, they have to do so by law over here in Denmark, and I suspect it could be the same in the UK.
@NicolaiBavnbek Not quite. Wig wags are used when moving over here. How ever once the officer turns on the headlights (low light situation in the video) the wig wags will deactivate, obviously could be dangerous and at the very least annoying at night.
cute

@evanthemack London police also drive BMWs so in comparison American police cars are old pieces of shit.

What's everybody's issue with this car? It's not the car that matters, it's the two hardy coppers stepping out who you really want to think about.
MadPropsToTheHood 9 months ago 5
@evanthemack The CVPI is crap compared to the BMW M5 and Volvo V70's that are used. This is just a panda car

@KooKas2oo8 you are right, and also the new beat cars have improved sirens. Plus, traffic police cars are way louder, faster and better lit up.

Nice video, never saw an ambulance nor police over here in germany turning off their siren when theres no way through traffic.
But i got a question, why do they use the Horn when switching Sirens?
muhkuh2005 1 year ago
@muhkuh2005 The horn is used to activate the siren and change siren tone.
RascarDK 1 year ago
@muhkuh2005 To add to Rascar's reply, tapping the horn twice turns the siren off.
