I don't think people realize that everything pertaining to the story is under Kojima's control. The gameplay and story can attribute to many things. His family dies or gets captured (ala Sunny); he's trying to protect the ones he love like he protects Snake in MGS4; he's just a confused and complicated individual.

That's not saying it's going to be great. But I can guarantee that Kojima's and Platinum's track records are going to make it a unique game.

@DroidGaM3R you fail to realise, this is not Metal Gear SOLID (TACTICAL ESPIONAGE action), this is Metal Gear RISING (LIGHTNING BOLT action) , a SPIN-OFF. Spin offs are allowed to be different. Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core was NOTHING like Final Fantasy VII, but it was still a great game. Anyway, you can't really tell whether or not a game will be good from trailers, as trailers rarely show what the whole finished product will actually be like. Wait till it comes out, play it, THEN judge it

Doesn't Revengeance take place before MGS4? Or did the story change when Platinum came by? Yes I understand, Raiden is the type of guy that fights when its necessary, not for fun. Also, I know Kojima-san is the executive producer but is it true that he won't have as much control over the project as he normally does with a Metal Gear game. Also, maybe as Hideo Kojima slowly isnt't involved, the true storyless, messageless, overly violent empty shell of a game will slowly sink in, well I hope not.

Revengeance takes place after MGS4. Also, Kojima is working hard on the new FOX Engine, as well as some other project that is secret right now, so he doesn't have as much involvement on this game as compared to previous MG games.

The reason there was a change in development teams was because the team from Kojima Productions couldn't make the cut-everything/action/stealth mix together properly with level design.
