I am a firm believer in your rights and have my CCW and do occasionally open carry. With a little cooperation and showing ID to ensure you are not unable to posess/ carry a firearm under the Brady Act, I believe, can avoid this. I believe everyone able should obtain their CCW.

This makes me so angry to hear cops say things like this. How can a police officer enforce the law if they don't know what the law is? It reminds me of something I remember from when I was a kid, the sheriff in my county who lived nearby my house once said that people couldn't open carry in town. I grew up assuming he was right and when I got older and bought my first pistol I found out that it has ALWAYS been legal to open carry where I live. He was sheriff for something like 15 years!

You should file criminal and civil charges against the individual officers (if you didn't) and not just the department. There are numerous instances of police accidentally discharging their weapons, in some cases killing the victim/suspect. They carelessly put your life in grave danger. the difference between detain and arrest is detained you are being held until they can find sufficient cause to officiate arrest. open carry may be legal there, however the police do have a right to detain in a manner which doesnt violate civil rights. they do have the right to ascertain your identity if you are in possession of a firearm because some citizens lost that right, and your name can be checked against those lists.

Yes, I do believe there's a possibility he planned it in advance. Either that or it was one heck of an amazing coincidence. And the concepts of "detained" versus "arrest" have been around for decades. In rough, simple, terms, the former means you're delayed for a few minutes while the latter usually means you're handcuffed, read your rights, and taken to jail. Not really hard concepts to understand.

I am a firm believer in your rights and have my CCW and do occasionally open carry. With a little cooperation and showing ID to ensure you are not unable to posess/ carry a firearm under the Brady Act, I believe, can avoid this. I believe everyone able should obtain their CCW.

It reminds me of something I remember from when I was a kid, the sheriff in my county who lived nearby my house once said that people couldn't open carry in town. I grew up assuming he was right and when I got older and bought my first pistol I found out that it has ALWAYS been legal to open carry where I live. He was sheriff for something like 15 years!

You should file criminal and civil charges against the individual officers (if you didn't) and not just the department. There are numerous instances of police accidentally discharging their weapons, in some cases killing the victim/suspect. They carelessly put your life in grave danger. the difference between detain and arrest is detained you are being held until they can find sufficient cause to officiate arrest. open carry may be legal there, however the police do have a right to detain in a manner which doesnt violate civil rights. they do have the right to ascertain your identity if you are in possession of a firearm because some citizens lost that right, and your name can be checked against those lists.

Yet again police that dont know how to do the job. He has a permit, a drivers ID, and maybe even an SSN card all in his wallet. All they had to do was compare all three. Once it came back clean he should have been let go ! 10 to 15 minets is all it takes to run a check on someone.

What gets me is anybody can cause a cop to harrass anybody by call ing the cops and say theres a guy walking down the street with a gun , seems the prudent thing for the cop to do is for the cop to simply ask the guy politly why he is wereing a gun .And he could answer simpley I have a permit and I wear it for personal protection . Even though I dont need a permit it is legal , cops are on to much on a power struggle , the only people that like cops are cops,

Oh come on. People criticizing cops over videos like this are so gullible. Think about it. What are the odds of guy walking down a street, a gun, a camera, and an officer driving by being in the same place at any one moment? Moreover, the camera is actually recording and pointing in the proper direction as that officer drives up. Guys like this do something to provoke a response from police. After editing that out (or just not recording it), they then post the video here so they can play victim.

Yes, I do believe there's a possibility he planned it in advance. Either that or it was one heck of an amazing coincidence. And the concepts of "detained" versus "arrest" have been around for decades. In rough, simple, terms, the former means you're delayed for a few minutes while the latter usually means you're handcuffed, read your rights, and taken to jail. Not really hard concepts to understand.

Have you picked your wilderness area yet? Popular choices include Idaho, the Dakotas, or Southern Oregon. All too darn cold for me, along with just too many damn liberals. Not overly thrilled by arid desert regions either. My choice is a southern "red" state, in the country well away from any crowded city.

in response to the cops' statements, i say this: a) they don't need to know who you are unless they witness you committing an actual crime, b) open carrying is not a crime in ohio, c) they don't need to see your CCW if you're open carrying, and d) they have no reason to ask where you came from.

Rule one, do not run off at the mouth to the officer with a lot of sarcastic remarks. Stay calm and answer questions when asked, Do not talk back to the officer, you have a permit and you are within the law, let them check you out then you walk, no problem.
