The Killers did a fine job at covering Shadowplay, as they kept the original sound in it. This is just not Joy Division, this is "I'm tough, and she's lost controlllaaaargh!". Joy DIvision was like "I'm sad, and she's lost control..."

This most certainly sucks as a Joy DIvision cover. They could've even tried to keep it original.

The Killers cover kept the original calming and sad wave, and the singer amazingly copied the slow way Ian sang. Sin? Joy Division was an atheist band, don't talk like that. They kept Joy Division goin'.

Actually JD doesn't need goofy bands like The Killers to keep their legacy alive. It can only hurt it with those takes like their version of 'Shadowplay'

@MrMcGale Don't fall into that Joy Division misrepresentation of "I'm sad..nonsense" that wasn't the nature of the band at all. They were levels and levels deeper than that. Listen to 'Closer' a few more times (and really listen to it) sure you may find some sadness in it, but that was not the bands intent. Ian Cutis was not a woe is me 'attention whore'. He had a real and important voice that is lost on today's musical landscape.

My kid who is 15 knows the history of the band (JD) and laughs when the Killers version comes on the radio. He gets it. The spirit of GvsB in this cover is much closer to the origiinal. Balls may have been a bad choice of words here, (beer does that) but you should get my point anyway.

I laugh when I hear a trash version of the song, because it breaks Joy Division's genre. And they did it to my favorite song from Joy Division, which I have especially analyzed carefully. This band sucks at covering it. The vocalist doesn't know what to do, and they ruined the awesome guitar play.

@MrMcGale Should have realized your age by the reaction you have. The Killer's 'Shadowplay' kills the spirit of JD because kids like you think that cover is an accurate sound and feel for the band. It isn't. Everybody has an opinion (and an asshole) and you have the right to express yours. No one agrees on everything. Respond to this video... to the awesome 'guitar play' you keep referring too. Even Bernard himself knows he was not a great guitar player. He really doesn't care to play that much anymore (and for some time now, see New Order from '86 and up). Now, I will agree with you on Hook's Bass play, he was very innovative. He took huge cues however from a German band from the early 70's called 'Neu' check out "Negativeland" by Neu for reference. Its okay though for 15 you have some insight.
