Don't want to pull out if he is moving? Yeah then you have to wait longer because you stopped and he rolled? I pull up slam on brakes stop completely then nail it. Scares the shit out of rollers.....
I tend to go around long lights & bad intersections
Step 1: Right on red. Then left turn indicator
Step 2: Head up, looking ahead & behind me
Step 3: A little rear brake, & u-turn the bike when it's safe
Do that over and over till you right turn into your desired lane of travel
I'm sure a cop would have something to say about that or some of you might think it's unsafe but as far as I know it's legal & IF you get any contact it'll be from the vehicle behind you & in most states their fault
@pipmysterio Generally I get right up to the rear wing of a car ahead of me at dodgy juctions, if there aint a car ahead of me I watch their wheels and look for an escape always, it only takes once and your done, ride safe
@pipmysterio because you are still at risk... Why take a risk when you can take danger completley out of the picture. Its not a bad stradegy but its bad to assume the the car next to you would shield you from the full impact of a side collision, because trust me the car will end up in your lane or ontop of you.
wow.. that's HORRIBLE. people don't really do that here fortunately. but... its still smart to watch for if you're a motorcycle rider for sure. i get people all the time trying to kill me :(
True man, here in Shoshone people never stop. Sometimes they don't even slow down (Like my brother hehe) and they just blow right through the stop sign. I always come to a full stop especially since I just got my privilege to drive :)
As a motorcyclist, you don't have to worry about right of way except to determine who is at fault in an accident, and at that point you'd be lucky to be alive to file an insurance claim. Forget about right of way, only go when it's clear.
Why does the states have Stop signs? Cant you just give way like they do in the UK? Vehilce to the right has right of way.. Whats the stop sign do? What dictates when you can move off?
what do u mean what does it do? it tells you to stop. And you can move off of it when your vehicle comes to a complete stop. If you are there after some one, they have the right of way. If you arrive at the same time, person to the left has the right of way.

Hey Capt, Great pointer on watching the wheels. I love your videos, and I like to pass them on to my Women In The Wind Northern Women Chaper.
Keep up the great work!

Watch the outside of the tire, the side wall will tell you what's up.
CaptCrashIdaho 2 years ago
that will be hard to see since the tires are usually thin

That's ok, just watch the tread roll under!

Anyone who wastes money on those probably can't drive very well to begin with. I say run away as fast as your bike can take you.

ugh, red lights (they always seem to be RED), and stop signs. a really efficient way of reducing MPG, traffic flow, and safety.
where do 99 % of crashes happen ?
INTERSECTIONS !
round-a-bouts are the way. i'd love to see more of them.
stop signs are sooooo 1800's
ohgood 2 years ago
stuff that! Australia's full of em, we're replacing them with traffic lights due to the amount of accidents on the bastards.
Needless to say there have been plenty of occassions where i have had a car enter the roundabout whilst i was mid-corner.
Definitely not the safest option!

Imagine all your stop signs were give way signs that would make a lot more scene.
bigcreator 2 years ago
Why do you need a complete stop? If the junction "intersection" is clear and no cars are around (3am for example) you still have to stop?
I'd like to pinch your turn right on red, its a good idea. Of course ours would be left on red ;)
bluenapalm123 2 years ago
I dont know why you need to come to a complete stop. you just do. And yes you are supposed to stop even if its clear for 800 miles.
BasementProductions4 2 years ago
Over here I believe that stop signs are designed to slow traffic and create situations where pedestrians can interact (positively) with traffic.
That said, you will find "Yield" signs that allow for whomever has the right of way to keep it.
Up in Idaho we're adding more roundabouts (which I LOVE) and have to fight with other citizens who don't like change.
CaptCrashIdaho 2 years ago
hehe, yeah i would imagine more roundabouts pleases the crash ;)
bluenapalm123 2 years ago
i like roundabouts better, keep people attentive!

Hey, it's everything we can do to get a second roundabout in this town...

As i recall from drivers ed, the driver farthest to the right has the right of way. You've got it backwards.

your totally right. I did mean to say right. but my fingers typed left.
