  • best teacher ! :D

  • Sounds like you say calzones = pants or underwear in spanish lol

  • there should be a difference between some of those sounds. for example, 'j' and 'q' are not the same sound, so there should be a small 'h' next to the transcription for 'q' to denote aspiration :)

  • What's the different in sound between "j" and "q"?. The international phonetics of those consonants are the same but my Chinese teacher said that it's different. So can you give me an answer for that? Thank you very much

  • @vanguyetu it's aspiration, the extra puff of air when pronouncing the sound. it's the same thing between piniyn p and b

  • @dyld921 oh, and the transcription shouldn't be the same at all.

  • 0:29 mofo

  • 2 month ago. I don't know how different of "q","x". I asked all of my chinese friend but I can't find it.Finally International Phonetic can helped me. Best teacher Thank you.^_^

  • Thanks for the awesome videos! :D

Just one point of criticism: in English, the accent is on 'con' in CONsonants, not conSOnants.

  • @RoderichEdelstein727 Come on. This is a Chinese language class NOT English!

  • @djgukfan If I were learning Chinese, that's something I would want to know.

  • @RoderichEdelstein727 What? You are learning Chinese and you want to know how English words are pronounced? Tune in my friend, one language at a time? Seriously, even native speakers in different parts of the UK pronounced words differently, something called regional accent variation.

I don't know where you are based but have a listen to how English words are pronounced in say New York and then compare that with pronunciation in Texas, New Jersey etc, etc. They are all different.

  • @djgukfan not really what you'd focus on, but it's what you'd want the teacher to know :P
