OK- you got me there, since I've never heard Radiohead make anything remotely resembling "music". They seem to specialize in selling caterwauling noise to hipsters who wouldn't know actual "music" if it bit them in the ass. In this however, Radiohead seem to be incredibly successful and I salute their business acumen. Really, please tell me the difference between Tom Yorke and Yoko Ono. You can't, can you? Besides the fact that Yorke never broke up the Beatles, I mean.
You really specialize in spouting complete bullshit don't you? Explain to me the similarities between Thom Yorke and Yoko Ono and why you think they can be lumped into the same category. I'm definitely interested in reading what you have to say. Relevance is key here, not liking a musician doesn't open up the "six degrees of seperation" idea either.
Oh dear- pissed in your cornflakes, did I? I suppose I can't blame you for being overly defensive when someone points out that the emperor has no clothes. It's interesting though that you felt the need to list utterly meaningless differences between Yorke and Ono without addressing the relevant points- the fact that they are both talentless hacks, and sound ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME when they "sing". Listen to Yoko's Plastic Ono Band- it sounds like Radiohead, but with better musicians.
I d be interested to know what your 'real' music is first. Then i would question your hearing ability fair enough if you dont like radiohead(your loss) , but to say its not actual music makes you sound ignorant.

I can name 15 bands from the last 15 years that are miles ahead of Radiohead when it comes to producing quality music, and the last 15 years has been lousy. Even Coldplay are better than Radiohead, and Coldplay suck.
Case in point- Radiohead's 2 latest songs. I give them loads of credit for releasing a tribute to Harry Patch (one that benefits the Royal British Legion, no less), but it'd been nice if they could have come up with something that wasn't symphonic lite with insipid lyrics.
well go on then tell us with your obvious musical wisdom and all your carefuly reasoned opinions which bands have climbed to the dizzy heights of your favour.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
As for the "Twisted Words" thing, it sounds like a bunch of talentless amateurs jamming aimlessly with a crazy homeless guy showing up in the middle to warble along. Really third rate.
I do give the guitarist credit for favoring Teles, though.
Beyer160, I was willing to respect your opinion until you mentioned what type of guitars they play. Your opinions are essentially baseless and worthless.
I agree, the last two longs Radiohead released are fairly lacklustre compared to the rest of their efforts... But at the same time, you absolutely can't deny the impact Radiohead has had on popular music. They changed it just as much as The Beatles did in their era and it'll take a few generations for people like you to wake up to it.
@Beyer160 are you kidding. You think that some talentless amateurs could just start jamming in 5/4 to a 4/4 beat with that kind of song structure. You don't get it.
@HowAboutSomeTruth1 Because they massacred a song I happen to love. I suggest you "get a life" and find a band to like that doesn't suck monkey balls.
@Beyer160 Have u ever actually attempted learning These Are My Twisted Words? He uses GCGGBe which is a tuning i've never heard of, uses like 20 different chord shapes with varying picking and strumming patterns, for anybody who actually knows two damns about guitar it's a freaking masterpiece, all you've done here is embarrass yourself with this pathetic display of musical ignorance.
@jirdimaster I wasn't aware that using atonal tunings and obscure chord voicings automatically equalled great music- thanks for the update! You're obviously a kool-aid drinker who feels the need to justify your love of this horrific skronk because no one in their right mind would listen to such crap. Johhny Ramone probably never played 20 chords in his entire life and managed to make classic rock 'n' roll- Radiohead are obviously incapable of doing so no matter how much weird crap they play.
@jirdimaster Are the Ramones mainstream? Radiohead got more airplay than they did, so you tell me. Is one of Neil Young's least commercial albums "mainstream"? I really don't care whether music is considered "mainstream" or not- I only care if it's any good. I listen to plenty of obscure music, as well as classic rock warhorses. I make no distinction between them based on popularity.
Conversely, do you think non-"mainstream" music is automatically better simply by virtue of its unpopularity?
@ManginCharles I'll admit that against all odds a few good artists will get popular, but the fact that the beauty and complexity of These Are My Twisted Words flew over your head only fortifies my belief that you are a slobbering idiot. The Ramones play a bunch of G C D pop bullshit, it takes no talent to use chord combination's and hooks that have been used a 100 times over.
@jirdimaster Like whatever you want, but the fact that you can't appreciate the beauty and simplicity of the Ramones tells me you're just a hipster douchebag. Pointless complexity and willful atonality alone are meaningless. The Ramones said more with three chords than Radiohead ever will.
"Love Me Do" was a four chord song, was that "pop bullshit" too? Or did the Beatles just suck because they were "mainstream"?
@ManginCharles It's all a matter of whether or not you actually know ANYTHING about music, it's apparent you don't so you're simply going off your uneducated opinion. If you want shallow, cheap entertainment then the Ramones are great, but that's not art, it's a product, like Hannah Montana or Go-Gurt. I love The Beatles but Love Me Do could have been written by a four year old.
@jirdimaster So you have to know ABOUT music to have an opinion? Wow, you really are a pretentious ass. If you knew the first thing about art, you'd know that differentiating between "high" and "low" art is a false argument for snobs and dilettantes.
For the record I've played guitar for 20 years and make my living as an audio engineer. I've produced records and played on them. My "professional" opinion is that Radiohead is nothing more than pretentious noise. What they do has been done better.
@jirdimaster What a lame response. So I gather that you ether:
a) are unfamiliar with SY and thus incapable of seeing how they're the vastly superior band
or
b) are simply a poser who actually knows nothing about music, but pretends to in order to justify their fandom of horrifically untalented wankers.
SY virtually define the term experimental and have spent their career pushing musical boundaries. Radiohead began as bland college rock and became uninspired, droning noodlers. No contest.
@ManginCharles You've just been beating around the bush and now you're trying to turn it around on me, u were lying. It's people like u that made bands like Abba and Greenday famous.
So now you've abandoned rational thought and are just spewing random recrimination. ABBA and Green Day? That's the best you can do?
"jirdimaster, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
The number of chords an artist uses says absolutely nothing about the quality of their music. As a blues, this Neil Young song relies mostly on a three-chord I-IV-V progression in a minor key. Does it suck?
And you really seem like you're unfamiliar with Radiohead's albums. You probably listened to maybe one or two songs from Kid A or Hail to the Theif... I suggest you form your own opinion instead of reading harsh reviews by jaded music journalists who have fell behind the times and adopting their views as your own.
Radiohead have made flawless, culturally relevant music over the years and if you can't see that, then you have no real connection to this generation, and I just feel sorry for you.
Thom Yorke looks up to Neil Young like Chris Martin looks up to Thom Yorke. Thom and Neil are two of my heroes. Chris Martin is cool too. He's written better songs than I have.
I agree, Chris Martin has written better songs than I have, also. However, that makes him neither cool nor worth listening to (especially anything after Parachutes and some of Rush of Blood).
Rush of Blood was the only Coldplay album worth listening to, in my opinion. And it was amazing. But nothing like any of Radiohead's albums after The Bends. Because each and every one of those was its own kind of masterpiece.
I think most of the "This is Coldplay" people are just giving you the piss. My guess is one person thought it was them and it pissed someone off and now its just, "yeah, Coldplay pwned this cover"
Like people who would mistake Radiohead for Coldplay have really every listened to and loved this album anyway.
Chris Martin loves Radiohead. That's about it.
How about someone upload the Neil Young album cut of this so I can share it with friends.
Damn, he sounds nearly identical to Young in this.

1. Yoko Ono was married to John Lennon

By the way.. riddle me this. Name me the difference between Beyer160 and a pile of decomposing manure... You can;t, can you?
Ignorance is bliss isn't it.

Beyer160 2 years ago
well go on then tell us with your obvious musical wisdom and all your carefuly reasoned opinions which bands have climbed to the dizzy heights of your favour.
dajc76 2 years ago
The lyrics were Harry Patch's own words.

As for the "Twisted Words" thing, it sounds like a bunch of talentless amateurs jamming aimlessly with a crazy homeless guy showing up in the middle to warble along. Really third rate.
I do give the guitarist credit for favoring Teles, though.
Beyer160 2 years ago
Yes, and just because you don't like it, everyone mustn't like it.
Fuck off.
If you think this is not quality music and even musical evolution, then your opinion is worthless.
Zedetnik 2 years ago 10
great point
fakeplastctreefingrs 2 years ago
@Zedetnik Touched a nerve, did I? If you think Radiohead's talentless noise is musical "evolution", you are either retarded or deaf.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion of course- unless it disagrees with yours, evidently. Banning me from posting comments? How lame.
ManginCharles 1 year ago
Beyer160, I was willing to respect your opinion until you mentioned what type of guitars they play. Your opinions are essentially baseless and worthless.
I agree, the last two longs Radiohead released are fairly lacklustre compared to the rest of their efforts... But at the same time, you absolutely can't deny the impact Radiohead has had on popular music. They changed it just as much as The Beatles did in their era and it'll take a few generations for people like you to wake up to it.
climbapapermountain 2 years ago
@Beyer160 are you kidding. You think that some talentless amateurs could just start jamming in 5/4 to a 4/4 beat with that kind of song structure. You don't get it.

There's millions of artists in the world, why troll videos of those you don't happen to like? get a life.
HowAboutSomeTruth1 1 year ago
@HowAboutSomeTruth1 Because they massacred a song I happen to love. I suggest you "get a life" and find a band to like that doesn't suck monkey balls.
ManginCharles 1 year ago
@Beyer160 Have u ever actually attempted learning These Are My Twisted Words? He uses GCGGBe which is a tuning i've never heard of, uses like 20 different chord shapes with varying picking and strumming patterns, for anybody who actually knows two damns about guitar it's a freaking masterpiece, all you've done here is embarrass yourself with this pathetic display of musical ignorance.
jirdimaster 1 year ago
@jirdimaster I wasn't aware that using atonal tunings and obscure chord voicings automatically equalled great music- thanks for the update! You're obviously a kool-aid drinker who feels the need to justify your love of this horrific skronk because no one in their right mind would listen to such crap. Johhny Ramone probably never played 20 chords in his entire life and managed to make classic rock 'n' roll- Radiohead are obviously incapable of doing so no matter how much weird crap they play.
ManginCharles 1 year ago
@ManginCharles Are you actually glorifying mainstream rock?
jirdimaster 1 year ago
@jirdimaster Are the Ramones mainstream? Radiohead got more airplay than they did, so you tell me. Is one of Neil Young's least commercial albums "mainstream"? I really don't care whether music is considered "mainstream" or not- I only care if it's any good. I listen to plenty of obscure music, as well as classic rock warhorses. I make no distinction between them based on popularity.
Conversely, do you think non-"mainstream" music is automatically better simply by virtue of its unpopularity?
ManginCharles 1 year ago
@ManginCharles I'll admit that against all odds a few good artists will get popular, but the fact that the beauty and complexity of These Are My Twisted Words flew over your head only fortifies my belief that you are a slobbering idiot. The Ramones play a bunch of G C D pop bullshit, it takes no talent to use chord combination's and hooks that have been used a 100 times over.
jirdimaster 1 year ago
@jirdimaster Like whatever you want, but the fact that you can't appreciate the beauty and simplicity of the Ramones tells me you're just a hipster douchebag. Pointless complexity and willful atonality alone are meaningless. The Ramones said more with three chords than Radiohead ever will.
"Love Me Do" was a four chord song, was that "pop bullshit" too? Or did the Beatles just suck because they were "mainstream"?
ManginCharles 1 year ago
@ManginCharles It's all a matter of whether or not you actually know ANYTHING about music, it's apparent you don't so you're simply going off your uneducated opinion. If you want shallow, cheap entertainment then the Ramones are great, but that's not art, it's a product, like Hannah Montana or Go-Gurt. I love The Beatles but Love Me Do could have been written by a four year old.
jirdimaster 1 year ago
@jirdimaster So you have to know ABOUT music to have an opinion? Wow, you really are a pretentious ass. If you knew the first thing about art, you'd know that differentiating between "high" and "low" art is a false argument for snobs and dilettantes.
For the record I've played guitar for 20 years and make my living as an audio engineer. I've produced records and played on them. My "professional" opinion is that Radiohead is nothing more than pretentious noise. What they do has been done better.
ManginCharles 1 year ago
@ManginCharles By whom? I wanna see the band that can do what Radiohead does and do it better.
jirdimaster 1 year ago
@jirdimaster Sonic Youth.

@ManginCharles Sonic Youth is horrible dude, you're lying, you really don't know anything about music.

No contest.
ManginCharles 1 year ago
@ManginCharles You've just been beating around the bush and now you're trying to turn it around on me, u were lying. It's people like u that made bands like Abba and Greenday famous.
jirdimaster 1 year ago
@jirdimaster

@Drjebus : Wait. In my comment or his?

The number of chords an artist uses says absolutely nothing about the quality of their music. As a blues, this Neil Young song relies mostly on a three-chord I-IV-V progression in a minor key. Does it suck?
I think not.
bensmith3200 1 year ago 10

JeeshGsh 2 years ago
I agree, Chris Martin has written better songs than I have, also. However, that makes him neither cool nor worth listening to (especially anything after Parachutes and some of Rush of Blood).
dude1305 2 years ago
Rush of Blood was the only Coldplay album worth listening to, in my opinion. And it was amazing. But nothing like any of Radiohead's albums after The Bends. Because each and every one of those was its own kind of masterpiece.
itsliekhenry 2 years ago 3
I think most of the "This is Coldplay" people are just giving you the piss. My guess is one person thought it was them and it pissed someone off and now its just, "yeah, Coldplay pwned this cover"
Like people who would mistake Radiohead for Coldplay have really every listened to and loved this album anyway.
Chris Martin loves Radiohead. That's about it.
How about someone upload the Neil Young album cut of this so I can share it with friends.
I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

chris may love radiohead but radiohead changed their sound cause coldplay and others were ripping off of their sound
