These kids are just aware of reality. The achievement gap is a real thing, in fact it's Asians that perform the best in school and earn the most in the workplace, not Whites. If anything we should be talking about "Asian Privilege".
The results would have been more valid if children were given more anonymous forms of testing (i.e. a survey sheet or a computer survey) and the colors of the cartoons were mixed up instead of ordered from light to dark. Otherwise they could have been choosing a consistent pattern or what they thought would have pleased the experimenter (this happens in other studies as well if certain measures are not taken to prevent it).
It's sad and depressing when a person can't appreciate themselves for what they are. The psychology of it all is interesting, but you can't help but feel anger towards the people and society that taught them to follow what they themselves wanted, not what the child could choose to believe. Teach your children to make their own decisions and opinions.
As a white child, age 5, living in a mixed neighborhood, I chose a black girl as my best friend. I wasn't taught/exposed to racism in my home so had no thoughts on skin color. Then an older girl in the neighborhood, also white, informed me she could no longer play with me because I played with a black child. My first exposure to racism left me feeling confused because, on some level, I knew it didn't make sense. To my credit, I continued playing with my black friend.
children from a young age see the sitcoms on tv and the black sitcoms I've seen make the black kids (and adults) look and sound uneducated, i.e. stupid, and get into a lot of trouble. I see ads online, in magazines and on tv for skin lightening creams. There are videos on how to lighten (bleach) dark skin and to keep their skin covered when outside so they don't get darker. When black adults hate their color, their children learn to hate their skin color as well.
Well at least there were two young ones that chose them all to be the same. Hopefully the other little ones grow to understand and develop open minds.
The test itself is problematic. Although the general findings are accurate, it is an unfair test that demands racism. There was no picture saying "All kids can be smart, despite their skin tone." Any selection is thus race-fueled.

I know what it's like to think another race is better. I remember when I was little and I drew a picture of a white girl for a character in my homemade comics. My mom asked me why didn't I draw a picture of a black girl. I shrugged and said because I didn't want to. The truth was that I though white was the best color. I had grown up with white people as a majority in pretty much every book, cartoon and television show. It just got put into my head that white was the best color.

For women, your hair is a large symbol of your sexuality, your femininity. it is considered more " feminine" to have longer hair, that you can flaunt as a symbol of your health and fertility. @JunOkami8 They are trying to be as close to the original study as possible. The original study was just black & white. It's about the bias between dark/ light & black/white so Asian & Idian wouldn't matter. Also, there have been many studies to prove that kids see a difference in color as young as 3 & can tell who's black or white, but they may not be able to tell what an asian or Middle Eastern person looks like.

The results would have been more valid if children were given more anonymous forms of testing (i.e. a survey sheet or a computer survey) and the colors of the cartoons were mixed up instead of ordered from light to dark. Otherwise they could have been choosing a consistent pattern or what they thought would have pleased the experimenter (this happens in other studies as well if certain measures are not taken to prevent it).

The psychology of it all is interesting, but you can't help but feel anger towards the people and society that taught them to follow what they themselves wanted, not what the child could choose to believe. As a white child, age 5, living in a mixed neighborhood, I chose a black girl as my best friend. I wasn't taught/exposed to racism in my home so had no thoughts on skin color. Then an older girl in the neighborhood, also white, informed me she could no longer play with me because I played with a black child. My first exposure to racism left me feeling confused because, on some level, I knew it didn't make sense. To my credit, I continued playing with my black friend.

children from a young age see the sitcoms on tv and the black sitcoms I've seen make the black kids (and adults) look and sound uneducated, i.e. stupid, and get into a lot of trouble. I see ads online, in magazines and on tv for skin lightening creams. There are videos on how to lighten (bleach) dark skin and to keep their skin covered when outside so they don't get darker. When black adults hate their color, their children learn to hate their skin color as well.

I know what it's like to think another race is better. I remember when I was little and I drew a picture of a white girl for a character in my homemade comics. My mom asked me why didn't I draw a picture of a black girl. I shrugged and said because I didn't want to. The truth was that I though white was the best color. It's about the bias between dark/ light & black/white so Asian & Idian wouldn't matter. Also, there have been many studies to prove that kids see a difference in color as young as 3 & can tell who's black or white, but they may not be able to tell what an asian or Middle Eastern person looks like.

But your so right light skin has always been said to look better :( I think all skins are beautiful & sadly not many do. They say your closer to white then you look better. You may find it on google or maybe even on here its called light skin vs. Dark skin and its so stupidly sad and digusting( they put more light people in the video than dark), but you can also for your project use clips from rap or music videos, beauty commercials and ads, thats what I did to show how no dark people in it & also an article I found on Diddy's racism :)

what happens when those children become teachers, nurses, social workers? They are clearly wired and no matter how sincere the intention, the lens is still there. Hence, the achievement gap, racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare, disproportionality in child welfare, housing, banking and finance. This is more complex than teaching children that we are all the same "underneath."
