@rugbychamp23 I can put together a parts package for your budget, it won't be enough to build an entire winch but it will get you started, I would urge you to consider going with the frame and spool unless you can build those on your own, then as you order more parts later on you can simply bolt them on

whats your opinion on the subaru motor? vs everything else...i wave a custom with a 52 axel sproket and 10 teeth on the tav ... with a robin 21

@herrera123456789 I think Subaru is good, I believe the Grinch uses them, but they are probably 6 to 7 times the cost of a clone engine, are you saying your engine is 21 HP?

Hei..How stong should the rope be? Would a 311kg (686) tensile strength rope do the job?

@lilleke3 Hard to say, whats the diameter? Whether I use polyethylene or amsteel they're both rated for 1,000 lbs

@lilleke3 I'm not sure what the test will be but I bet you can find a local shop that has the tool, you can take a 2' or 3' section to them and they will test the breaking point, I saw one of those machines on Myth Busters

awesome winch!! i was wondering how you get the spool to stay connected to the axle while the axle is spinning? is the spool welded to the axle?

@skatedonthate88 Google "axle keys" that's what locks the hubs to the axle and makes everything spin together

Do you do anything special to allow the rope to pull out like a quick release spool or something?

@Dremsta all I do is make sure the chain is the right tension and the belt is the right length, I can offer a releasing spool but it adds to the cost

How thick is the HDPE you use for the splashguard?

Do you "need" to remove the governor even if you use a Torque Converter?

@wtw0 you dont have to but I do on all my models since they'll get some higher RPMs, the reason its not a big deal is becuase we only run engines for 45 seconds at a time or so, I wouldn't recommend this on a go-kart engine
