I haven't had any problems with shutting down from overheating, unless the vents got blocked and I didn't realize it. But its been getting pretty hot when I'm playing games for a while, and the screen starts to flicker with gray static like bars. I figure I'll try this, but has anyone else had this issue?
thank for the tip! my g73jw was overheating even when watching a movie and in few past days i had several shutdowns - but after cleaning it with compressed air the vents are so quiet i was in shock! works just like new! so if your'e having problems don't wait - clean those radiators!
now my idle temp is CPU 55C GPU45C while heavy gaming both at 65C :) way better before cleaning(idle CPU 65C GPU 55C gaming 90C 80C auto shut down as you said) just post and like again to thank you
yeah I got the same problem, and I am trying your way to clean out the dust, just one question, you just need to blast the air into the back in the vid, no need to open up and screw apart the laptop to clean the GPU and CPU fan, and you get the result that 15C-20C down? I have been using my G73jw for 1 year and never cleaned it.
did you just came onto your Asus G73?? (I couldnt help it)
how do I know when the heat is a bit to the bad side?, I have the GPU-Z and the CPUID-CPU-Z but I have not idea when should I start worring. and what is idle and load temps?
sorry for the stupid questions, I love my laptop and I want to take care of it better.
@LoboLoko007 Haha, I admit, I was tempted. G73's look good in a thong. Maybe I've said too much <.<
But yeah, like a post above said, idle temps should be in the 50's in Celsius and 130-ish in Fahrenheit.
If it goes above that, you might need to clean it again. Don't let it get too hot as trust me, your computer will suffer. I wasn't kidding when I wrote the description, literally just by WATCHING a video, the GPU fan would rev up to max. My idle temps were at in the 70's.

Worked for me too. Idle temp now at 55°C. But SpeedFan still reports it as too hot...

Nice tip.
Funmark xtress test BEFORE doing this: 65 idle to 105 and shutdown after 8 mins.
Funmark xtress test AFTER doint this: 55 idle to 85°C.
Not very sure if i'm going for a repaste with temps like these.

@LoboLoko007 use HWiNFO64 for Asus G73. And open it, check the temp using the sensors on it. Idle should be on 50's (degree Celsius).
