@progmeck1 I am so sorry to hear that. I obviously didn't know what the nature of his illness was but that sounds much worse than an arthritic foot. All I know is, what a cruel trick of life to have such an ailment inflicted on a person like John who, as we all know, had one of the strongest grooves an Englishman has ever had. What a solid, funky drummer behind such a classically influenced org. as GG.
I read somewhere that John Weathers has an ailment (arthritic foot) that keeps him from playing. For those of us who hold Gentle Giant so dear, this music is sacred. I am so thankful and grateful to Gary, Kerry, and Malcolm for pulling this thing together. Their music has always been exclusively for those who have ears to hear. We can't do anything for those who don't get it (except maybe pray for them....nah, I am too busy diggin' the music to do that!)
@chungiemunchin Actually, Weathers has spinocerebellar ataxia. SCA is one of a group of genetic disorders characterized by slowly progressive incoordination of gait and often associated with poor coordination of hands, speech, and eye movements. SCA results in unsteady and clumsy motion of the body due to a failure of the fine coordination of muscle movements, along with other symptoms. There is no known cure for SCA, which is a progressive disease (gets worse with time)...
What are the real chances of all of the originals playing together again? Zilch. I hate that, and so does anybody else who loves GG. No offense to the guys here, but dammit - we need Ray and Derek and John Weathers. Shit, I'll see these guys if they come anywhere near the eastern USA.
I've never heard anything unique as Gentle Giant! I get goose bumps just thinking how it would be to see these guys performing like this!! Just awesome!!
I really hope they'll come back to Scandinavia, I was sad I couldn't be in Gothenburg...:(
Wow... this just might be the smoothest prog groove I've ever heard. Almost sounds as if Nile Rodgers was producing Gentle Giant. Prog with soul... Two thumbs up!
Oh my, this is stunning. I was at the Shoreham gig but they seem to be gaining confidence and strength with every gig. Where next and when, Scotland maybe?
