Rossiya/Pulkovo Tupolev TU 154-M Noisy Takeoff at Düsseldorf Airport in 2006

This type of painting was used on Aeroflot A.C - Polar scheme something.

The dark blue area in the aft was tested to see if the carbon stains not would been seen so much with this type painting. But was never implemented then on the whole SU fleet.

Some of this T154 AC was regulary operating on Arlanda early 90´s.....

Poor maintenance in later years gave the Tupolev TU-154 series aircraft a much undeserved bad name. I flew as a passenger on the TU-154B, TU-154B2 many times and once perhaps on a TU-154M (higher performance). These were tough old birds based entirely on Soviet designed technology. They were beautiful planes with the most amazing rear wheel storage area I have ever seen. They were also designed to put down on very basic rural runways as long as they were long enough - hence the total of 12 whee

@aspiringdrummer17 Well have you seen the news about the crashes? The president of Russia has been trying to put these kind of planes (not only tupolevs but all old-style Russian planes) off the air.

@joosepinpoika Yes that's because they're old but they're not bad planes. If they are maintained properly then they can go on flying for a very long time but unfortunately the airlines that currently fly them are all relatively poor and can't afford all the neccessary maintenence to keep them in the air. People don't understand this however and keep on blaming the planes instead of the airlines
