You need to put a three inch bowl and put water in the bowl and go to petsmart and ask for something to put in water to make the water bubble he likes to get in the water and feel the bubbles
@megagame987 s, I know, this is an incredibly old video. This dragon was so poorly treated that by the time i got him there was nothing that could save him. within 1 week he was under the care of a vet and still died due to severe medical complications.
Your mountain horned dragon is full grown so the 4 feet thing is B.S I breed them you will want to give him a bigger cage if you haven't already and they like to climb my cage is 3x3x4 (l-w-h) and they climb all over the place they need a ambient temp of around mid 80F and around 60-80% humidity. And for anyone who wants to doubt the info I gave you, Just remember I breed them and I have no problems breeding them and mine are in pristine condition and I have never had any medical problems
@didleedidlee2 Some pet stores may carry these guys. Unfortunately this guy is now dead. i kept him alive for awhile but he was too far gone. earthworms make a good food source and you will need a moving water source. you can feed them almost anything another lizard might eat. there are care sheets available online for these guys but I would not reccomend a horned mountain dragon to an unexperienced reptile owner as they are difficult to care for. not too expensive if you buy them young.
they also need to have water running at all times...they will only drink if the water is moving. another thing is that they love to eat silk worms, and crickets. you'r doing a great thing with the powder.
i have a capra mountain horned dragon and the best thing for him is a lot of heat, they are used to being in very hot ,humid conditions. you can get a heat lamp, and the temperature should be at about 30-35 degrees celcias. another thing is that you should spray it lots -and by lots i mean LOTS- , you sould also have plants that come from his natural enviroment, for example orkids are one of the plants that are found in his natural habitat. again HEAT AND HUMIDITY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!
it is actually mountain horned dragon. I have one. Remeber to stay on top of it's feeding. He will threaten to attack you if you don't feed it for a long time. Also take it out alot that will let you and the lizard create a strong bond. Get some fake tree branches, mine love to lay on them. If you need more info or have any more questions just reply.
i just got one 2day 8/6/95 the heat should b 70-90 degrees water dish but also spray him twice a day they drink that water more than the dish cause its moving
Ive got forty+ lizards (and more on the way),including three if these Dragons (1male,2 females),they only get 12" in length, but require alot of height to their enclosure ,their huge tree climbers and will jump between limbs,my enclosure is 2dx4wx6h,they need to hear running water, and love eating nightcrawlers, superworms(but not mealie's),crickets, most are imports and can be in rough condition, and bought cheap at shows/swaps,CB's cost more, but you get what you pay for.
oh yeah, theses are Capra's and do require high humidity, but not high temp's,daytime at 80 is perfect.but they have to climb high!I let mine out and they go straight for the ceiling, and will stay their all day, motionless.joe
hey Hawk seems pretty healthy. i just got a MHD and he really needs high humidity and moving water, if you even drizzle water in his dish or spray his tank he'll see the drops and drink them. also i suggest frequent handling, i held mine all day the first day and now he just sleeps on my shoulder and isnt jumpy. looking good though i'd just say add lots of vines
In order to eat or drink, he has to see 'movement'. If you make water drip into his water dish and he sees the dripping he should drink, he might even plunge his face into the water and gulp. If you trickle water down the glass where he can see it, he will sip water off of the glass. Give him plenty of time to see the water moving. It's good you're not cooking him and great you're giving him all that humidity, he'd probably like high places to perch too. He's a cutie and lucky you adopted him.
thanks for the age. i am having a hard time getting him to eat. i basicly stole him due to neglect and am trying to nurse him back to health but he just lays there and wont eat. i am aware of how large they can get and am already getting ready to invest in a large breeder tank which will house manny and hawk will be taking over manny's tank. but i will not do anything untill i can get hawk better.
is he dehidrated? if so pinch him (or her) at the joint of its jaw and squirt water or gatorade in its mouth(they need gatorade and like it better)and his leg is broken. you have to get him in a safe place where nothing can touch him(not even the water dragon) and let it heal and he will be fine.=D
i tried to force feed and water him but he will not respond... he has gobbled down a couple of wax worms but wont drink... i am not sure what to do to get him to if he just struggles when i try to pinch his jaw. i think i will invest in an air pump and run a line into his dish. perhaps he will me more likely to drink. he is more active now if you look at the week 1 update video he is making slow but sure progress.
the "EXPERTS"(they have had, bred, and sold lizards for decades) say they get 4 feet long. And they never lie! Even experts on the web tell me they get 4 feet long...
and besides they live with water dragons that get 3 feet long!
I have no idea... because I don't remember very well and I am not a scientific freak(i'm not saying you are)so I can't tell. But if you need help with them I will help!=D
