But what about Cult leaders? Their cause is themselves. Yet people follow them. I guess cause they somehow trick people into thinking they are really committed to something else, and the only way you can be as committed is to be committed THROUGH the leader.
Unless they are in the leader's closest inner circle, they are not aware that they are a member of a "cult".
There is a gradual deception, desensitization, and indoctrination, combined with the fact of all the "good" things the cult may be doing.
Cults don't consider themselves cults either. It never really crosses the member's minds, or if it does, they are somehow able to justify the questionable situation or behavior to themselves.
@frankylovesyall you know you just posted "the key to becoming a leader" on a video by a leadership expert. What are your credentials sir? Ex military? Now law enforcement? That tells me you're just a punk ass bully. What makes you a leader? What makes you an authority on what it is to become a leader? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Watch the video, try it, and maybe you won't drop out of law enforcement like you did military and you'll actually lead something.
I get the feeling that the fact that "if you can't reach people regardless of what or why your doing something no one will follow you" is largely being ignored. I'm sorry but Charisma does matter it's just not the only thing that matters.
@rogueremis Charisma is a way to GET someone to follow you lead. Charisma sparks CURIOSITY.
Conviction is a way to KEEP them following your lead. Conviction breeds BELIEF.
Unlike charisma, conviction(a much better word than zealotry) cannot be reliably faked. Even people that don't realize this consciously are able to can feel it. That's why it works.
@Reddsplinter My point is unless you have the charisma to get someone to follow your lead the conviction won't even matter because you won't have anything to keep in the first place. Charisma matters it's just not the only thing that matters. If you have charisma but no conviction then you won't be able to keep jack shit.
@frankylovesyall "Congress tells the Governer who tells the Mayor who tells the police chief who tells the cops to squash them. That's why they're called the "long arm of the law" because they're the fist. The fist doesn't have ears. Talk to the HEAD if you want to be heard." - Fantastic point, very well made. You have a gift for words sir.
@Hexake You must also understand the path of wisdom can only come from within. All I can share is knowledge. All true wisdom and your true path are things only you can find. As Morpheus once said "I can show you the door, but you are the one who must walk through it." Learn from others if you can, but remember that your path and your life are your own.
@Hexake But even if you take it to heart it is not enough. We live in a world of fears, and we often let our fears control us. To take something to heart lets you know it is there, but you will only truly understand it once you live it. Let others lead if you will, but no through fear. Let others lead for the experiance they hold.
@frankylovesyall SHOWNDOWNS WITH THE COPS...?WTF...HAVE YOU READ HISTORY ?ARE WATCHING THE MIDDLE EAST PROTESTS? EVERYWHERE THERE IS CHANGES THERE WILL BE BLOOD...THE POPO IS JUST THE LINE TO DIVIDE THEM THE RICH FROM THE REST...IF THERE WERE SOCIAL JUSTICE THERE WOULDNT HAVE NO RIOTS IN THE FIRST PLACE...THEY ARENT INTESRESTED IN LISTENING TO US...THEY WANT TO SHUT US UP...AND THATS THAT...ALL REVOLUTIONS HAVE VIOLENCE...BUT IS THIS NOTION...BRAIM«NWASHED BY THE MEDIA AND PPL THAT IT ISNT SO..
It is easy to say that you take responsibility for your decisions when, even when they are wrong, law-enforcement almost never has real consequences for bad decisions or inappropriate actions
@frankylovesyall It's phycology. People don't want to lead because they are afraid. What if I screw up? What if people hate me? What if... They don't want to lead because they don't realize the truth. They follow because they are afraid, and that is what I try waking people out of. The blindness of following blindly. I follow, but only until the leader makes a mistake. Then I take the lead and fix it if it can be fixed. We are afraid, and that is why we let the fearless lead us.
@cincinatus90 No, sadly by admiting that fact he's probable won over several people as student's to teach and shape as he see's fit. He's also what people want, someone to take resonsibility away from them.
What about all those countless cult leaders people end up following? You know, the one who do it for the money, sex and so on. I think this kind of refutes what he's saying.
@68dzintra Playing video games is simply a way for people to have fun, connect with each other over and relax. Maybe to you having fun and forming relationships over something so simple is a waste of time, but even if we disagree on that it doesn't mean you should be a dick people.
@68dzintra Where did I say I disagree with you on anything? You said people who play some random video game have no life just to piss someone off. That's the pathetic part and is what makes you a troll, moron.
@68dzintra I like how you got so mad and I didn't even offend you or anyting. And those caps locks really show that you're the one that has no life. Go outside and meet the Sun, son.
But you HAVE to be about yourself when whoever IS about you is focused on themselves or on someone other-than-you. Leading without a spouse is like trapeze-flying without a net ... oh! Annette! lol
@frankylovesyall although you're receiving many positive thumbs up, I think you are missing a very big core of being a leader. However this is only based on your one comment.
@frankylovesyall Well said! I've told people for years that leadership often happens for only one reason: someone decides to stop waiting for others to lead. And yes, real leaders take responsibility as well as authority.
This is, ironically, why I think leadership is overrated. Too often we hear of people wanting to be leaders so they can get recognition and prestige without caring about the actual endeavor.
There's certainly something to be said about being a good follower.
@MrEthereality there is a difference between a leader and those who lead. Important difference. A leader is someone you listen to because of an authority figure, being the boss, etc. Those who lead, inspire us. And the inspired followers will work tirelessly not just for a paycheck, but for the cause.
@frankylovesyall I think you mean the key to becoming a "good leader", there are plenty of blame game leaders out there. And the dude in this video I also think meant to say a leader SAYS they have a goal, plenty of leaders claim goals and never show goal effort.

Cults are more complicated than that.
Unless they are in the leader's closest inner circle, they are not aware that they are a member of a "cult".
There is a gradual deception, desensitization, and indoctrination, combined with the fact of all the "good" things the cult may be doing.
