I was thinking about that too. Also, the song implies that the singer has a son. This being a case, the man playing jacks would be a great great grandfather! Wow!
Does anyone know who the singer of this song is? It sounds a little bit like Hank Willaims or Hank Williams Jr. But I would like to know for sure... Thanks! :-)
And in response to the "rumors" in your description, I can confirm at least one, even though it was one a tape that was later destroyed from repeated watching. In episode 1364 (aired in 1980; where C3PO and R2D2 land in Sesame Street), this song was there. It must have been a rerun I saw, because when I tried confirming this through muppet.wikia, nothing that I remember from that episode came up, except that I remembered the sponsors (J, Z, and 4) perfectly.
I was an AVID watcher of Sesame street in the '70s and I remember seeing it then ---when the vast number of Americans had not even HEARD OF C3PO and R2D2.
I don't think I've seen this since I was 5, which was 26 years ago! It brings back so many memories. My brain even cued the sound effects. Thanks a bunch for this.
Wow: His great grandad must be over 100 years old. Also, his uncle seems to have an interesting hobby -- he jumps logs and lands in mud.

Redneck as hell, lol.
Is it just me or does the singer's niece look older than his wife?
A jackal farm, now that's an idea.

The guy singing this looks like he'd be at least 40, surprising his great grandfather would still be around.

Is this singer J for Jim Henson?

@JGCooney : It doesn't sound like his voice, judging by his other performances on the show.

The singer is not Hank Williams because he died before Sesame Street started. I do not think it is Hank Jr. Either. I do not know who it is.
