While all the greeks who stayed got killed to the last man by arrows.

Aristodemus and Eurytus where there names and Dilios of the movie is based on Aristodemus.
Eurytus turned back to help his comrades in battle and died with them. Aristodemus Returned to Sparta and was called a coward because he did not died with the others. This was for 1 year until the Battle of Plataea where he fought with much fury and redeemed himself (he died of his wounds).

@AmyTank00 The persians had about 300k sent to greece or the city states and the 300 spartans had all the citiys stats working together so that was about 7k to about 10k greeks the spartans saw the persians going through the hidding passage so they sent there allies away as they gave time for them to re-group.
Just type in Thermopylae. There is some excellent documentaries regarding the battle to include History Channel. I've seen several ratings that are hitting the nail on the head regarding the numbers on each side. There isn't enough space to comment to explain the numbers and reasons why. Just watch the documentaries.

I believe that the persian army numbers and are excadurated greatly, and so were the spartan ones. Why would spartans only send 300 soldiers plus their king to fight off 2.5 million persions?
The Spartan king took his body guard of 300 Spartans, the Spartans couldn't go to war, so the king seeing what would happen if he didn't go to war decided to go on a "walk" with his bodyguard. What 300 doesn't tell you is that there were Athenians and several other Greek City-States doing quite a bit of work too at Thermoplaye.
they had a festival at that time, and no doubt a council, like a senate would have objected to going against those religious festivals. the other greeks, some anyhow did send troops (tho they left early) but yeah, its a good question, why didnt the best army in Greece send ALL their men...that probably is the best answer tho, religion was big back then

Persian numbers have been exaggerated once you start reading the sources stating they had millions, no army that big could have been supported on the march, period.
They did however have many, many, many tens of thousands more.

So yes if they maked alliances they would be very more powerfull and even better then the Romans.
But Romans did not only copied there buildings, they also copied the army formations.
They tooked the Greek phalanx into there own style. 3 lines of soldiers first the Hastati then the Principes and then the Triarii.

And i dont live in Malta anymore we moved to Holland when i was young.
But when i went back there for couple of months by family the weather was great nice people and very good food :). And how is it in Norway my friend?

But during spring and summer it's really beautiful i must say :o Though that really depends on where you live. I have relatives all over the country so i have been to several nice places :) The further north you get, the better the nature becomes. I live in the capital though. Which is far south :P

Yes i play Rome Total War. Just started to play it online kinda late but it does not matter :P
Its a very good game and i love to play the Romans with Imperial Campaign just because you get senate missions and i like to do missions.

Yea Rome is really good :D But, I'm a bit tired of it temporaily. Played too much lol. Macedon and Greece are my favorite factions. No surprise i guess :) The Romans are awesome too, i just played with them too much. For the moment I am playing Medieval 2 Total War. Since i love medieval times it is MUCH fun! ;)

@AmyTank00 The persians had about 300k sent to greece or the city states and the 300 spartans had all the citiys stats working together so that was about 7k to about 10k greeks the spartans saw the persians going through the hidding passage so they sent there allies away as they gave time for them to re-group.

Just type in Thermopylae. There is some excellent documentaries regarding the battle to include History Channel. I've seen several ratings that are hitting the nail on the head regarding the numbers on each side. There isn't enough space to comment to explain the numbers and reasons why. Just watch the documentaries.

ive watchd it ds on discovery chanel, actualy d war wasnt jus on dt narow path, it was a land nd naval battle, sum captain hd 2 mke sure dt d spartans wudnt get flankd frm behind by ships so a naval batle took place + d spartans lost cuz d greeks defending the path d persians used 2 flank dem abandoned dem so d persians freely flankd spartans, d spartans stayd in order 4 d rest of d 3000men or sumthin so dt dey cud flee. dey warnt only 300 in d narow path der were around 3000+ greeks. :]

I believe that the persian army numbers and are excadurated greatly, and so were the spartan ones. Why would spartans only send 300 soldiers plus their king to fight off 2.5 million persions?

The Spartan king took his body guard of 300 Spartans, the Spartans couldn't go to war, so the king seeing what would happen if he didn't go to war decided to go on a "walk" with his bodyguard. What 300 doesn't tell you is that there were Athenians and several other Greek City-States doing quite a bit of work too at Thermoplaye.

they had a festival at that time, and no doubt a council, like a senate would have objected to going against those religious festivals. the other greeks, some anyhow did send troops (tho they left early) but yeah, its a good question, why didnt the best army in Greece send ALL their men...that probably is the best answer tho, religion was big back then

@ArmyTank00 Persian army was in the tens of thousands not, 2.5 mil and the spartans sent 300 or so because thats all they had until re enforcments arrived. Hence the reason then fought in the mountain pass. Bottled up the persian army so only smaller amounts of the army could reach them at a time.

Because their customs literally wouldn't let them send any more. That part of "300" wasn't all that off..... at all.
Persian numbers have been exaggerated once you start reading the sources stating they had millions, no army that big could have been supported on the march, period.
They did however have many, many, many tens of thousands more.
They also sucked. That part wasn't exaggerated either.
There was only 300 Spartans but other, arguably lesser Greek Nations participated as well.
