jason, are you scared of drain clogging by washing off the beef. i'm scared it'll clog the drains since its never reccommended to pour fat down the drain right?
Hey Jason, are you at all worried about cross-contamination? I mean, you handled the raw steak and ground beef and then touched most of your supplement containers and other things.
How do you change the weight of the beef once it's cooked. In other words how much raw comes out in cooked weight. What has been your macro (protein) with that cooked weight for 90% beef (leanest I can get).
I didn't see chicken breast, how about those macros for cooked? I use 99% lean from sam's. Is there a reason you may skip chicken breast or was it jus not in the video? Also, I'm curious if your using different meal carb sources as of recent. I only use green vegetables and oatmeal, soon to be swedish oat starch to replace oatmeal. How did you end up with jasmine rice when I remember it being quite high on the glycemic index...
Don't u loose alot of nutrients by straining your ground beef through water?? Or are u not really concerned about nutrients and just total protein intake...
That's a really hard question to answer. If I had to guess I'm probably about 12-13% in the offseason. I think you can gain muscle fine as long as you stay over 10%ish.
oohh. yeah you don't do that, in fact you dont even put it back in the pan. thanks for clearing that up. i'll definitely give that a try. good luck with your show jason.
Thanks for breaking this down for me. For me, my diet is really difficult to get in shape. I think I am going to try these basic things out and build up as I learn more. I have a lot of fat to lose and making eating no-nonsense really can help me out!
awesome video jason, i'm a member at IM and have seen how helpful you've been to everyone, thank you.
i've found that you can also get the fat off by tipping the pan and pushing the meat to the top of the pan so that the fat slides to the lower side and then i just dab it up with paper towels. definitely does the trick.. just wanted to share lol
You mentioned the off season in the vid, so I assume that this is your diet for competition prep. In the off season do you just eat more quantities of the same things? Or is your diet completely different? Also, about how many calories per day does the diet in this video supply?
Those foods still make the staples of my offseason diet, but I go to restaurants quite a bit too. Right now I'm eating between 3100 and 3700 kcal a day, depending on whether it's a low or high carb day, respectively.
This is really helpful. It's nice to see how a national level guy goes about the all important task of food prep. I'm preparing for a local show myself that's 2 weeks out from the Nationals and really appreciate this video. I csn't get over the crazy conditioning you had at the Junior USAs on your site. Good luck this November!
I LOVE TrueProtein... Just made a 28 lb order with 4 lbs of BCAA's and tons of ZMA! Luscious Peach is the best flavor by far!!

I wash it down with a lot of hot water which I'm hoping will keep it in liquid form before it cools down again and solidifies.

I recently started some fish oils but in the past it's mostly been flaxseed and extra virgin olive oil

You're right - and because the weight changes after cooking I weigh my food after cooking.
This is the info I use:
96% Lean Ground Beef (Cooked) 3 Ounces 22pro 5fat 0carb 140cal
Flank steak (Cooked) 3 Ounces 22.4 10.6 0 192

There's really not much to lose in terms of nutrients by washing it off. The saturated fat liquifies because of the heat and it rinses off.

Jason, is that jasmine rice?

Yes

Finally a video! I'll be ordering next payday - cheers. When is the book due out?
Also what bodyfat % do you run at off season Jason? And what is a good % to gain muscle without holding too much blubber?
Thanks.

does the taco seasoning stay on if you wash the meat afterwards?

The taco seasoning goes on after you strain it and put it back in the pan.
